  • Hey Guys! Welcome back to Jackie’s Southern Soul. In today’s video I’ll show you how I make Easy Crock Pot Cube Steak. I’ve seen different versions of this recipe all over social media for about the last 6 months. It was way overdue for me to give it a try. This is the best crock pot recipe that I have ever tasted. The meat is fork tender and not chewy at all. This is the very first time that I have ever made cube steak in a crock pot but I can tell you that it definitely won’t be the last. The only thing that I’d do differently is double the batch the next time.
    Easy Crock Pot Cube Steak:
    6 Pieces Fresh Cube Steak, nicely marbled
    1 Can of Cream of Chicken Soup
    1 Can of Cream of Celery Soup
    2 Envelopes of Lipton’s Onion Soup Mix
    1/2 Large Onion, sliced
    Place 3 pieces of the cube steak in the crock pot. Sprinkle with 1 envelope of the soup mix.
    Layer the last three pieces of cube steak on top. Sprinkle the remaining envelope of soup mix on top. Cover the meat with the cans of soup one at a time. Cover the soup with the sliced onions. That’s it. Cover with the lid and turn the crock pot on high heat. Cook for 6 hours.
    If you need to let the cube steak cook longer, cook it for 8 hours on low. Any longer and the steak will fall apart and it might be chewy. Once done the gravy will be thick and ready to eat.
    This method is a whole lot less fattening than cooking it on the stovetop.
    I hope that everyone will give this recipe a try. Enjoy!

    Good morning. I have tried the recipe before. I did season the meat the night before for more intense flavor. Still crockpot cooking is the way to go. Keep cooking.

      The only thing I’d change is doubling the batch. The flavor, the richness of the gravy and the tenderness of the meat was perfect.

      Oh Amanda I’m so sorry for your loss. I pray that God gives you the strength that you are going to need in the coming months. I still have my Mother and I cherish her so much. She is a staple in our family.
      Hold on to every memory that she blessed you with and know that she is with the Lord.
      God bless!

      Hey Vicky! This crockpot method is easy breezy and I hate that I slept on it for so many years. I don’t really like the texture of meat cooked in a crockpot that’s why I was always hesitant to try it, but now I know! Maybe I’ve been overcooking my meats so now it’s time for some adjustments. My next kitchen purchase will be a programmable crockpot. That’ll help with overcooking. Look for more great recipes coming your way.
      Thank you for watching and God bless!

    Hi Jackie!!
    So nice to visit with you again!! I will definitely be trying this recipe. I know my husband would love this recipe. Yummy!! I love that you did both potatoes and rice and green beans😊. I tend to do that as well now. I hate to choose when I don’t have to lol. We love both rice and potatoes. Also I am falling in love with my crockpot again. I have been doing all kinds of soups and stews and chicken or pork or beef recipes
    Thanks for sharing Jackie

      Hey Loretta! I love my crockpot especially when I’m working third shift. I’m used to eating a good Sunday dinner so when I get off work on Sunday mornings I’m looking for something to throw in the crockpot. Those are some easy meals and very tasty because you don’t loose any flavor.
      The next time I make this dish I’m going to make mashed potatoes. The gravy will be a perfect match for mashed potatoes.
      Thank you for watching and God bless!

    I will definitely be giving this a try. I normally cook mine on top of the stove and make the gravy like you were saying. I’m gonna check this out though.

    Looks so good Jackie. Thank you. One question, I noticed you didn't brown them before. Is it necessary?

    • @JackiesSouthernSoul
      @JackiesSouthernSoul  9 місяців тому

      Not at all! It’s totally up to you though. When I was young my Mother taught us how to cook a beef roast in the oven. She taught us to brown it first on the stovetop in butter. Now whenever I’m using a crockpot I never brown my meats. You will not be able to taste the difference once it’s done. When I cook oxtails I don’t brown them either because the end product is delicious and browning wastes time.

    You don't have to brown the meat

    • @JackiesSouthernSoul

      Not unless you want to. I don’t brown any of the meats that I cook in a crockpot anymore especially when I’m in a pinch for time.

    This is an excellent "dump and go" recipe and has become one of my favorites. Only recommendation is that since crockpots cook differently, it's probably best to begin checking temp at 3-hour mark to prevent over cooking. For me, the 5-6 hours resulted in a slightly dry cube steak. The done temp should be around 145 degrees so since this is a very thin piece of meat, it only makes sense that it will cook faster. Otherwise, my wife and I love it.

    So you can use the cream of mushroom instead of the cream of celery?

    • @JackiesSouthernSoul
      @JackiesSouthernSoul  10 місяців тому

      Yes I love the cream of mushroom because it adds another layer of flavor. I use sautéed celery and onions.
