Sundays are always great days because we get to go to the beach 🏖️ Today is also a very special day because I am watching with my new kitten 🐱 I am so blessed and lucky to have her in my life ! Thank you for another wonderful time at the beach ! 😎🐚🏖️
I was at Kice Island for my very first shelling experience with a shelling tour company 3 weeks ago. It was an 3 hr tour. We went to Dickman's Point (?) also. It was amazing. I collected over 50 Florida fighting conchs and a bunch of other shells at low tide. I could have spent all day there. It was overwhelming and amazing too. No Junonia shells but I did find a worn out alphabet cone and part of a broken one. I am addicted...Love it. Can't wait to go back. I will have to settle for Fernandina Beach which is closer to home.
Good for you for no longer waiting for life to happen!😁😁 I've been watching your videos for a month now and I absolutely love them! Wishing you the best of luck in making happiness happen in your life😁🐚
I've never seen any footage of that far end of Kice before; it was so beautiful & different, without the dead trees, & with such a sandy beach. Lovely! You found a fantastic variety of beautiful shells today. Really outstanding! And thank you for the thoughtful quote at the start; that resonates. 🕉
I enjoyed watching the periwinkles when I was on Kice. I was kinda hiding in some small shade that I had found to give my fair skin a break from the sun, digging through a shell pile and watching periwinkles doodle around. They were so cute with their little antennas. ❤
Kice Kice baby. Still an awesome place where Jurassic park meets tropical island. Love Kice, never fails to deliver great shells. Hugs and stay safe xx

Glad you were able to get out there and find some nice shells it was soooo fun on that side of kice. That gorgeous rose made it worth the trip I’d say!
That gorgeous rose totally made the trip! The pitted murex wasn't a bad prize either. I was totally psyched to be able too see the south end of that island again!

A couple of weeks ago, I found a box of very large, very beautiful shells for 25.00. I snapped it right up. I think some of them are scotch bonnets, but I might be wrong. I have google lens, so will see what google knows. Lol. Thanks so much!!!!@

Hi Sharmon. Thank you for that comment (quote) at the beginning of the video. I needed that today. It's been another tough week. But I thoroughly enjoyed the shelling video on Kice you shared with us today. Among your treasures, I especially loved that first Florida cone you found, the rose murex, the incredible hinged spiny jewel box with all the glorious purple inside. (Wish that hinge would last forever.... what a necklace that would make.) I loved the unique coloring on the beach bowl -reminded me of butterscotch morsels. The first Florida fighting conch you found was incredible too. All of it was incredible and it warmed my soul. Have a blessed week, my friend!
I loved this trip to Kice, and the I like the different way you're shelling. So many times in past videos, I've thought to myself, "That could go on a frame for a mirror or a photo. Even if it's broken, that part could be covered by another shell." The only shell you showed today that you didn't keep that I would've kept was the shark eye, with all the cracks. Yes, it was beaten up, but that's why I liked it. Thank you for an island trip this week.
I know the shell you mean! I could have snagged that one, but I would have wanted to paint it white for a white shell project. I have a whole bunch of "craft" shells that I don't think I'll be using, so I'm going to try to sell those to make room for better broken shells 🤣
I survived Kice Island! Found the biggest haul ever! Went out with Treasure Seekers, and had a wonderful yet scary at the same time! The tide came in 2 ‘ deeper than expected! I didn’t think we would make it to the boat! Love your UA-cam videos! I’ll be in Sanibel in September. Can’t wait!

Could've swore I saw at least two Kitten Paws in that pile you were staring at, and was thinking you were gonna pick one up. I was getting excited there for a minute, lol. I was like; "Sharman, Sharman, Kitten Paw, Kitten Paw"! 😂🤣🤣
Kitten paws, jingles and bubbles are those shells that seem to always be around, but I still collect them from time to time. Sorry to have psyched you out with that pile!!!
@@SWFBeachLife that's great to know. I think my cousin and I maybe coming to Florida soon to look at houses, etc.. I can not wait to get on the beach. Been tooooo many years.
Wow, what a beautiful place and beautiful shells. You are right, there is no better place to be right now than shelling with you on Kice Island - right now. I am doing it virtually all the way from Germany. 😅 Thank you for another fantastic video, you really bring us so much joy. Big hugs 🤗👏💕🐚🌊☀️🌴
when I visited Kice island, I found the spikest Rose Murex and a golden olive. One of my favorite beaches to shell. i have never seen a Dusky cone so colorful, what a great find! I would love to tour the south end of Kice too!
When we were on Kice & went in the water it was very anaerobic & stinky! Stayed up on the beach after a couple of forays into the water. Great finds though!
Thanks Sharmon, lovely walk on Kice Island. I love the Rose Murex and the pitted Murex (both make me a bit envious). I always love cones and you found very pretty ones on Kice. When you said you were going to shell a bit differently, I thought of your mirror and understood exactly. If I was still crafting with shells, I would be picking up things that were broken in the back or on one side too!
I need to start making more things with shells!! Yes, you were 100% spot on - after doing that mirror I'm looking at shells a little differently again. I have a Dremel so I'm going to mess around with that too but maybe I can get onto a schedule of making 1 thing a week along with my Sunday video 🤔 A girl can wish!!!
Awesome finds! We’re coming down to Sanibel next week. I hope to find lots of treasures. I ordered the Sea Anchored Mist for no see Ums. Hope it works. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Ok, the quote explains a few things from earlier!😁 It's great to always live in the moment. And that rose m is really a nice specimen! I actually have 3 albinistic great A cockles. Don't look like your shell though - they're almost all white but have a hint of yellow all over. If I remember, I'll send a pic. Was the egg cockle albino? It was so white on the inside, it looked like it to me. That jasper cone was beautiful and big. Great seeing the south end of Live! Thanks Sharmon! xxoo
I don't think the egg cockle was albino. I should have shown everyone - there was a sunray venus clam shell that was bleached white but still very shiny. It's funny how that happens too sometimes with these shells. I am almost done with my printer tray table! I am going to put some of these neat shells in my "special box" but some of these others will go in my table so I can look at them all day long 😃
I need that Island on my bucket list. Love the Rose murex. Beautiful. And those horse conchs. love them. Love those Telons. And the Bay scallops. gorgeous. Ali is awesome. Love her. Do you have a special place to look up to ID shells? I have some from Ft. Lauderdale, St. Thomas, San Juan that I would like to try to ID. Nothing major but just my curiosity. lol. Thank you for sharing Sharm.
I use The Sanibel Shell Museum website, my Florida Living Beach book, my Bivalve shells book and a few other sources to ID shells. I wish there was one good resource, but it seems that like shells, it's easier to ID them when you know what region they are from.
Someone's I'll check the higher wrack lines and the tree area, but I don't spend a whole lot of time up there. I'm glad you got to experience this island with Ali!!
In the summer you can book the tours once you are here and kind of have your plans figured out. In the winter or during stormy times, you'll want to book ahead to save your spot!
I am going on a cruise the end of March 2025. We are coming a few days early and I want to visit beach. I love collecting shells and promise only empty shells. Could you tell me the best beaches in Fort Lauderdale for shelling? is where we are staying until cruise day.
I am not very familiar with the beaches in the Ft. Lauderdale area, but I did shell over at Dania beach and found a few different shells. I like Juno Beach and John Pennekamp better if you can get to those beaches!
No, I only bleach the shells that need it. Ones with crusty or green stuff. Most shells are pretty good just as they are and they just need a good rinse.
We were just recently on kice as well. Took a tour with swfl. Wish we had run into you. I have a question on how you clean your sand dollars? I know you use hydrogen peroxide but what ratio do you use and how long do you leave them in there?
I use 100% straight hydrogen peroxide and I tend to do it in batches. What I do is get all my sand dollars together and completely cover them with the HP in a rubbermaid container. I put a lid on the container and leave the whole container in my garage (it's darkest spot I can find). The HP will break down with light (that's why they sell it in a brown bottle) so I try to help it along and have the sand dollars soak in the dark. I check on them about a week layer and rinse them real well. Sometimes there will be stubborn ones that won't go while. Those I put to the side to paint 😃
90% of what I find down here in SWFL are calico scallops. They are normally purple or pink, but can be white too. Bay scallops have coloring a little different, browns, yellows and they can get bigger than the calicos. Rough scallops have really cool wings (anterior wings) on the bottom of their shell. The wings on the calicos are square and the ones on the rough scallop are more tapered. I don’t always get them right either - don’t feel bad!!! 😃
Wow! Thank you so much for responding. I have nice little pile of scallops that need to be sorted. Your channel has been so helpful and fun to watch. Little by little I am getting my shelling addiction organized. 😁
We are coming back to sanibel in February. I want to go to Kice island. We did a tour in March with sand dollar shell tours and I don’t think they go to Kice. Who would you recommend that would t break the bank?
All the tours are a little pricey, but I always tour with Ali with SWFL Shell Guide - I feel she tries the hardest to get people to the shells! www.swflshellguide.com
I was just there taking shelling tours for over a month and found Ali’s tour to be the most fun and competitively priced. Every time I went out with her on both the guided and unguided tours I came back with great shells and goodies! She knows the area and has been shelling these islands for a long time. She is also a really cool! SWFL Shell Guide highly recommend!
Florida is awesome because just about anything and everything grows here. What happens on some of these islands are trees that can't tolerate salt water are killed by high tides and drought, leaving this "ghost forest" behind. It won't recover, but the trees may in time be replaced by mangroves and other trees and bushes that can tolerate the harsh, island conditions.

It was a tough call since the tides were wacky and we had had so much rain. I have never left Kice disappointed. I love that little slice of heaven!!
Thanks for sharing!
Great trip a good time was had by all🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩💖💖💖💖wonderful shells
💜 Indeed!!! 🐚
We go to Marco Island a couple of times a year and always go shelling, Kice is my favorite, found my first wendletrap there earlier this year!
Nice! I found a HUGE wentletrap by those condos on the very south tip of Marco Island!
Good morning Sharmon it's Tuesday and I went to Kice 😅Island with you and you found a lot of beautiful shells. Thank You so much. I appreciate you so much for taking the time to Go To The Beach ❤😊 take care
It makes me so happy you know the names of all the beautiful shells you find!❤
Oh yassssss! That rose murex is beautiful! Yay for you!
Thank you!!!
What a beautiful day and I will pray for sun😊
Wow, what a beautiful place and beautiful shells. You are right, there is no better place to be right now than shelling with you on Kice Island - right now.
I am doing it virtually all the way from Germany. 😅
Thank you for another fantastic video, you really bring us so much joy. Big hugs 🤗👏💕🐚🌊☀️🌴
Thanks for watching all the way from Germany!!! 🙏🏼
You are hitting the jackpot today, girl!❤
Beautiful Kice! ❤😊
when I visited Kice island, I found the spikest Rose Murex and a golden olive. One of my favorite beaches to shell. i have never seen a Dusky cone so colorful, what a great find! I would love to tour the south end of Kice too!
I found a golden olive on Kice too! There is something so amazing about that place!
can't wait to come back to SW Florida
Love it all, thanks ❤️🐚❤️🐚
I am loving your channel!
Thank you SO much!!!
Wow! Beautiful shells! We are headed to Marco later this week, can't wait!
You... you walk in the water with sneakers ok. Who does this? WHO DOES THIS?! 😂
I always wear shoes in the water. It’s not unusual.
Kice is no joke - I always wear good closed toe shoes on that island. My toes thank me!!
Thank you again
@@SWFBeachLife I look forward to seeing what you make as well as the next beach walk. Thanks Sharmon.
ROFL, those Spiny Jewel Boxes in profile, kind of remind me of a Pacman with an attitude!
OMG - Pac Man with a wildest hairdo ever 🤣🤣🤣
Awesome finds! We’re coming down to Sanibel next week. I hope to find lots of treasures. I ordered the Sea Anchored Mist for no see Ums. Hope it works. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
The bugs are terrible! If it's really bad, just cover up. The bugs can't get through clothes!
Nice shells
So exciting to see my name as a Patreon! #kicewasVERYnice
Thank YOU!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I am going to put some of these neat shells in my "special box" but some of these others will go in my table so I can look at them all day long 😃
Awesome video
Thank you!
I got to shell with Ali on Kice Island! Do you ever go into the tree area that’s there? Great shell day!
Someone's I'll check the higher wrack lines and the tree area, but I don't spend a whole lot of time up there. I'm glad you got to experience this island with Ali!!
Lovely tour!
Do you ever find snakes on these far off beaches?
I saw a rat snake once while I was on the beach. It was actually really beautiful: ua-cam.com/video/u5FqjeWS0Ps/v-deo.htmlsi=B1RA82SrFzZ4OAzn&t=882
I think I have an albino ribbed canthris in my stash! Lol
I loved this video! I do have a question. Can we book shell tours when we arrive or would it be better to book ahead? Thanks for all you do!
In the summer you can book the tours once you are here and kind of have your plans figured out. In the winter or during stormy times, you'll want to book ahead to save your spot!
Isn’t Kice where you found those amazing seahorses a while back?
I found 7 seahorses on Sanibel and then a few weeks later I found one on Cayo Costa 🥰
What kind of container do you bring with you to bring them back with you without breaking them? Im new to this.
I have a shell bag with a small, hard container, like a Chinese food container, in my shell bag. This protects the delicate things and sand dollars.
What shelling tour did you use to get to Kice?
I always tour with SWFL Shell Guide: www.swflshellguide.com
😊
Coming down to SW Florida from St. Louis in October and would love to tour Kice. Could you recommend a tour company?
When I tour Kice I always go with Ali with SWFL Shell Guide: www.swflshellguide.com
Tyvm , maybe we'll see you on the beach some day.
❤
Do you bleach all of your shells, with the exception of the sand dollar shells? How long do you soak them in bleach?
How do you tell the difference between a bay scallop, calico scallop, and a rough scallop? I am struggling! 😕
at 9:36 just to the left of your hand is that a flat scallop?
above your hand
I think you're looking at the piece of sunray venus clam. Good eye though!
I've wanted to leave this question for a while. What happen to all the trees? Did they die because they got buried in sand?
The trees will just continue to deteriorate. They are not salt tolerant, so they've been dead a while.

What happened to the trees. No green. Is this a result of past hurricane. How long till it recovers.
