This was the most wholesome top gear episode ever, they were all actually really supportive of each other
Even the chat with the other drivers before they started was wholesome. Love to see it.

That's very true. It's actually quite logical; when you're trying to prove rallycross is better and cheaper than golf, you're not going about making fun of each other.
They also did that 24 hour race where they were nice to each other for over 24 hours.
pkshd I guess that was also because of medical, physical and mental constraints; if you're going to concentrate for that long, you'll have to save your energy.

A lesson every Mr2 owner learns at least it’s wasn’t on a public road going hard around a corner - for a mid engined car they’re about as bad as a rear engine 911
this is one of Top Gear's episodes that makes me think about how they genuinely love doing this and aren't just doing it to entertain people

Rally crossing is cheaper and more exciting than golfing which is true.

Bag of used clubs, £200. Green fees at my local, £5. I could play once a week for the whole year for £500.
If you don't hit enough powerful, some clubs will be not necessary - another money saving :D
In all honesty golf is cheaper. But rallycross is more fun.

how are used cars so damn cheap in england? £400 for a MR2 that would cost $5000+ in the states..

Because you can not sell a British (left hand drive) car to a poor (ex Romania, Hungary, Russia) country like you can sell a German car and selling it for 500£ is better for you than trashing it for 100£
+warmfreeze has a lot to do with the market being inflated. if everyone thinks a honda CRZ is worth $5000 then that will become the new standard. It's one thing I hate about the US is the fact that everyone over values there car. and no im not joking go and look. you will find CRX's going for $5000 for no good reason other then "its a cool tuner car"

I always enjoy it when these three compete in professional races, especially when they achieve some measure of success.
It shows that you don't need to be the best of the best in order to do well in these things.

Like Hammond said at the end, how can anyone feel BETTER than when you drive off the circuit (in one piece or thereabouts) after a rally cross round. I raced in the then 1300 class with a Mk1 Escort for several years, and almost nothing matches it for the pure adrenalin rush you get from taking part in the sport. High speed tarmac and usually even higher speed off road speeds make for a fantastic challenge to anyones driving skills.
fantastic episode this! My hairs were standing on end watching this even when I have seen it before. Makes me reeaaally want to try rally cross.
Also fun to see Slash playing the outro song there at the end ;)

I wish they had this where I live in the U.S.
They do, all over the US there are rally circuits and straights that race all kinds of classes every couple of weeks. Take a look at your local area and see what's free for you. Buy a VW or a Honda Fit, hook a rollcage and some safety stuff in it and run the stock classes for fun
I would like to see more of these type of shows with the budget racing. Actual good selection of cheap cars.
