Brett Sir...thank you for you continuous input and all the good talks that we had since you joined the channel. Its nice to have a fellow M3 G80 manual owner to check a second point of view.
Seems like the ASD doesn't completely turn off even after coding off. It's only a bit quieter. To completely turn it off, I think the ASD module needs to be disconnected.
Yes, it's gone in efficient and 95% gone in sport but still present on hard downshifts on sport +. The last update also has done some curios changes to the exhaust sound.
If you switch between two parts of the video with it ON and OFF there's literally no difference in sound. edit: What I found on the forums: If you use the latest released version of BimmerCode, it doesn't entirely turn off ASD. They're still working on a new update for the app to address this. However, you can send them a support request and they will send you a link to get the unreleased test version where you can totally turn off ASD. This method has completely turned my ASD off... I still can not believe how much was coming through the speakers. And the fake pops and burbles through the speakers were unbelievable. If someone is on a stock exhaust and does not know if coding the ASD off worked or not then it didn't work. It is so obvious when it gets turned off you will not question it when bimmercode actually worked.
Yes, what you explained is correct. It took me a while to get it. As I have sold the M3 I have no longer searched for a solution. Will never get it why BMW believes that the M3 with an i6 need ASD.
Active sound design has zero influence on the outside noise or the exhaust valves. The M Sound Control button is controlling the valves. Active Sound is sound that is only pumped via the speakers in the cabin to enhance driving experience.
is it also possible with this device to raise the speed limit from 250 to 290km/h? I know this is an option but maybe cheaper this way than actually paying it right away when buying the car?
We have to do a comparison between my E38 730iL V8 of the sound. I dunno, with closed windows car is pretty mute. With the window down in a tunnel ore beside a car or a wall the echo is fantastic. We have to compare the 25 or let’s say over 25 years evolution of the BMW 3 liter engines 🤌🏻
In an extreme scenario yes...but 99% it will not affect the warranty because in the end I only set a feature that came from the factory from ON to OFF. I did not "code" a new functionality neither did I remap the ECU with a custom code.
Sadly I have to confirm...on sport+ you can still hear the ASD. Thats why I drive the car on sport most of the time where the ASD is almost not present.
I am so glad I found this comment thread!!! I have been over here going nuts with this thing. I was just in my car questioning my own sanity because I felt like I was still hearing fake noise when in Sport +. And I’ve felt that way for almost a week of driving. Yet everyone that codes the ASD off swears the coding works. I will try the car in Sport instead of Sport +, but I’m glad I’m not the only questioning the coding outcome.
@@jortepap yeah, that’s @G80_Soom… he’s running the single version from Active Autowerke. I’m getting their X-Pipe installed next week. The G80s come with equal length setups, unlike the F80s. But if you listen to his car in the opening, it has that same tone when accelerating as Cosmin and myself in sport +. However, as Cosmin stated in this thread “sport” mode has the benefit of no ASD with valves open. That will work until I add the Dahler flap controllers in my car.
I turned my ASD off after one day of driving 2 hrs home and a few local kids dropoffs. The noise it makes just gives me headache! I have to turn up volume a whole lot to listen to music and it only made the cabin even more noisy. This car is better off without it anyway
I tested m3 today, and engine sound on speaker is not berable. It is so fake and so bad and sooo loud than I am now cosidering RS5 Sportback. I am acoustic engineer and I cannot understand who had idea to make this sound, probably someone without knowledge.
Well done my friend ;-)
This car don’t need fake sound.
I will get mine done once i get the adapter.

@@cosmindrives7039 you need to deactivate activation code to FULLY disable ASD., ensure you back up FSC code before deactivating.
Could you please provide either a link, or the model number for that specific adapter? Thank you. Great video!!
Thanks for your feedback. You can find the model/name of the OBD adapter + amazon link in the video description

Would you be able to forward me the link? I’ve reached out to BimmerCode support via email and never got a reply. Thanks
Salut, Cosmin !

Nice video and sick mod for when I get my g80 m3
Thank you...glad that you liked it !
With or withoit the active sound design, will it change the exhaust valves?
Active sound design has zero influence on the outside noise or the exhaust valves. The M Sound Control button is controlling the valves. Active Sound is sound that is only pumped via the speakers in the cabin to enhance driving experience.

From what I have seen in the option it's not possible. Will make a video dedicated to what is possible with this device.

Hi Tudy, we will do this comparison with the 3D mic ... and the results could be interesting.
Will this affect your warranty?
In an extreme scenario yes...but 99% it will not affect the warranty because in the end I only set a feature that came from the factory from ON to OFF. I did not "code" a new functionality neither did I remap the ECU with a custom code.
No. Unless decoding that feature somehow results in a failure of a part, there's no reason that should really void your warranty.
eh sir.... its still ON😂
if you ever heard a BMW M model with ASD really OFF you will know for sure its still on here. Still sounds sooo fake.
Sadly I have to confirm...on sport+ you can still hear the ASD. Thats why I drive the car on sport most of the time where the ASD is almost not present.

yeah.. even in a 2012 M5 ADS off makes a crazy difference. So if it still sounds fake, its probably still on😆
this guy turned the ADS off in the G80: ua-cam.com/video/HAgG3jfKrmc/v-deo.html it has a crazy equal length exhaust too. listen at 3:57.

Can only agree...ASD should never have been turned on in the M3.

I will never understand why Bmw came to the conclusion that an i6 needs fake sound...it is what it is :)
