Chris, can you comment on your association with Collecting Cars the huge piston heads thread and how someone nearly got caught out and ripped off to £130,000 on a destroyed GT3?
Im a guy with both an M4 and a Tesla so I'm basically better placed than any person to comment, it's all about preference. As a daily driver, don't have to hear the engine drown on in traffic, instant torque is more helpful is always the faster car in and around town driving, autopilot in the traffic leaves you far less tired, in that respect the Tesla is a far better car than my M4. As a car I want to have fun in, rip around bends, rev to 7500rpm for the heck of it, take it out occasionally on a cruise, the M4 is a far better car. So what's my point? It depends what you are looking for. A daily driver or a car for the weekends and fun. Or better yet, get both like me haha

I'd rather has a Tesla !
@@WeylandLabs that's sad

BMW has absolutely ruined everything that they used to stand for since about 2013. Horrible.

An actual car review and not a comedy show. Love you Chris Harris
I for one love the new M3. It's given me a fantastic new profile pic.
😂😂😂
Lmao
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Still a huge mistake with the styling of the new range. I think the M2 was the best looking BMW I've seen to date.
That’s why I paid the balloon on mine and keeping it :)
E46 better
Meh e90 series was the better looking imo
The front end reminds me of a 2004 Pontiac GTO but somehow worse 😅
like a techy version of it therefore worse somehow
Every old m3 owner of every generation: "the old one is better"
This thing is hideous, doesn’t matter what car you used to own
This one is an exception. Because for sure the next one will be better than this one. Lol
hahaha soooo true!
i swear every one who is not even a BMW fan says "the ________ model was better bcuz this and that, the newer ones just aren't as good as they used to be" and don't give a single reason to say so
You drive the new one to say that? Design is different but lovely in my opinion. I think drive this thing is awesome

Love Chris for giving a straight review; BY FAR the best at what he does.
PLEASE test drive the manual version! Apparently they improved the shift feel
^
No manual in the UK though, he’d have to drive a foreign market car
In my view, why would you get a manual when power is at these levels? If you want a fun manual, buy a regular 911 manual
@@teamracing07 Why would you NOT want a manual? The GT3 already proved high power manuals are effective. Plus the bigger reason is the 8 speed torque converter auto. It's not as good of a transmission as the DCT and too smooth and a bit slower. The manual seems better engineered for the car here since it's been reworked apparently and the manual car weighs less and has less hp.
Plus the manual is always more fun and rewarding to drive.
@@CarToneHK Top Gear can make that work. Manual is sold in the US

Me too! Really close to buying one and I don’t get the fuss of the looks. Probably from people who don’t own one nor plan on buying one. My personal opinion.
I agree…I’ve had M3/M4’s since 2001. Most people commenting on how horrible it looks don’t have any intention or means of buying one.

BMW: G80 grille
I always liked Bangle. I miss the big brutal German sedans of old. But still...
Bangle made hideous back ends, his cars weren't bad from the front.
Just ordered a base model in white with black trim, black wheels, red calipers. Gonna be a looooong 3 months.

They only like it because it's BMW.
I don't know why everybody is hating on the new M-grille. It's perfect
I don't think it's brilliant, but I can instantly think of worse looking cars: fiat multipla, Land Rover discovery, Mini Paceman, Every peugeot from 2000 to 2015. We'll get used to it and to be fair in that bright green that they used for the M4 launch car does actually look really good.
It's trash, look at the shit, even Audi looks much better
Then go buy an Audi and you can tell everyone how good it looks and how boring it is to drive.
Three successive generations I've owned M3s. My F80 was my last, unfortunately. The new car is hideous, has confused lines (profile and rear) the interior is dreary and ultimately, it has lost what makes an M3 great. No more soul.
I think it will grow on you, people use to say the same of the F80 when it came out, I will be buying an F80 myself within the next year too.
@@SavageBunny1 that’s what I hate people said the same thing about the F80 now look stfu you’re gonna buy one as soon as you see someone slam it with some HRE CF lip and an exhaust
Agreed mate
@@SavageBunny1 eh, I always liked the F80. The first day it came I genuinely thought "Man that is one good-looking thing, F82 is even better". The new one... the G80 is kind of growing on me in terms of look but the G82 is still lacking cohesiveness in its design.
What BMW wanted was to NOT play it safe. Make it polarising. Some will hate it, like yourself, some will love it, like myself. That's what they wanted.
They didn't want a boring Audi that tries to offend no one and ultimately looks boring
Chris: great car amazing
Also Chris: the looks aren’t there and the engine isn’t special, I could pass on the interior layout is meh
Sum of it's parts can still work.

Chris, can you comment on your association with Collecting Cars the huge piston heads thread and how someone nearly got caught out and ripped off to £130,000 on a destroyed GT3?
9:15 there you go, the man himself said it.
Tesla fanboys gonna feast on that. Kek
@@supaahflyy 2 very nice cars sir, what he's saying though is he doesn't want to be forced to just drive electric. That will probably be the future. You yourself, as an M4 owner must be disappointed with that option, as you have it now?? Enjoy.
@@tim3437 Ahh yeh the UK regulations and all. Im in Australia and lets just say we have dinosaurs in Government. They dont even have any incentives to buy electric infact here in Victoria, its going to be first state in the world taxing electric cars haha. So that paints a picture of how slowly our 'transition' away from petrol cars to electric cars is going. Unfortunately the UK government for you guys is much faster and only has 9 years of selling new petrol cars. I think it would be awesome/wise to keep a hold of your favourite petrol cars after 2030. Can only imagine they appreciate in value too
@@tim3437 that is the MAIN problem with electric cars, politics force people to drive them. If we would just keep several drivetrains, no one would hate on electric cars, trust me. All i know is autonomous cars are coming fast, and that will be a problem for a lot of people.
It's a love hate for that front end with me
Reminds me of the pig mutants from Duke Nukem.
It's just a hate hate relationship with me
It's reminiscent of old BMW models, but I think the rest of the car doesn't fit well with the front end.

Thank you for the honest review, Chris. I hope the guy at BMW who approved this design gets canned.
Suspect he was half canned when he designed it .
His name is Domagoj Dukec and has been lead design since 2019, he's still employed unfortunately. Yet another person who comes into a new job and thinks they need to change things (often for the worse) just to justify being there.
BMW used to have the best styling. First Bangle, now this, just go back to your roots. Why do manufactures think they need change?

It's kinda like if you ticked every option of a Porsche, it can get stupid priced really quickly but in reality no one clicks every option because they aren't adding anything to them. For example the carbon seats and carbon ceramics being unticked will save you probably over 10k and for 99% of people who won't track the car, they aren't adding anything to their experience

Think you have that spot on Chris. Another class review. Just can’t see how that design works, never once made me think that looks impressive. The previous version has so much more presence.
I hated the look until I saw one in person looks good to me now.
It looks like a sub-Bangle mess. So many lines, stuffed in everywhere. Glad to see it goes well. Maybe they'll clean it all up for the eastate.
I thought the busy-ness makes the grill fit better. Not to my taste, but that hardly matters: the kind of people who actually buy them will love it.
they won't.
Car has grown on me from the back its epic .100k specced? I remember when 55k would buy u all the M you could ever want...
Absolutely love Harris’s work, but this irritates me. How can he suggest get over the way this looks because it’s a great drivers car but absolutely roast and then condemn the civic type R purely on looks despite saying it’s also a great drivers car?
Love watching Chris he sure knows how to ping a motor around
The front end would look amazing, without atrocious overwhelming grill taking up so much real estate. Think I've seen a photoshopped version somewhere with a 'normal' grill, and it looks fantastic. Shame
