How to Build a Portable Air Tank From an Old Propane Tank

- Propane tanks are perfect for building a portable air tank. They are rate for pressures way beyond what your typical air compressor can produce. Since they are made with thick steel it would take nearly forever for them to rot out on you.
Here I build one from parts I had lying around and another one that only cost me $25 in fittings, a pressure gauge and some air hose.

Thanks! Just take the valve out and blow it out with air at least. If you want more peace of mind fill it with water and then dump it out.

Instead of blowing it out with air, you could fill the tank with water. Then you know 100% of propane is gone.

How much psi is safe for the smaller brown tank??
I try not to go over 130 on mine
Propane tanks are rated for a lot more PSI than your air compressor is going to dish out. No need to worry about it just for air.
