    This is spectacular! A friend told me about this but I was afraid of explosion. I found a larger LP bottle/tank at a garage sale for like $5. My air compressor tank died and I was going to throw it all out. Now I can just convert the LP tank to the compressor. It will be better that ever. Thanks

    This is awesome and I am making myself one using your shopping list! I am adding a drain valve at the bottom (drilling a hole and tapping a 1/4 npt thread) so that you can release the remaining air and drain the condensate so this tank doesn't rot out from the inside out as fast.

    Yes these are also good for aerating your compost pile if you make yourself a 4 ft long 1/8" pipe you can shove it into a compost pile and oxygenate it and it will make compost with less smell and faster. You can also use it in a rocket stove to increase the temperature for faster cooking.

    I have made one tank like this, but i used a 30lb tank which for me is still not too heavy and i can fill up my truck tires with the big one. I do not have a compressor so i fill it at shops. I love your gauge, i only added a simple tire inflator to mine so in future maybe i will upgrade.

    If your hose and tire gauge are rated for 250 psi, why would you even think of pressurizing the tank to 300 psi???

    • @hitop2365
      @hitop2365 Рік тому +1

      Because he’s a clueless lunatic. If you stop and think of 300lbs being applied to a square inch of your body you’re going to be damaged. Commercial compressors run to a max of 175psi, they have safety valves built in. When your blowing up tyres to high double digit or higher pressures there should be 6’ of hose between the Schrader valve and the gauge / inflator lever too keep the operator out of harms way, if the tyre-wheel is off the vehicle it should be contained in case the tyre casing fails. In the U.K. insurance companies send out specialist engineers to inspect compressors & air receivers on an annual basis, these are compulsory inspections. More worryingly he’s talking about building a compressor 😬

    Just the UA-cam clip I was looking for... I recently did some DIY repairs to a damaged car door and a bumper on my car. Though the outcome was successful I did go through a number of aerosol cans that never quite produce the results a good spray gun would. Not wanting to buy a compressor, I'm thinking this would be perfect solution for future repairs. From what I've read, you need between 25-30 psi (approx 2 bar) for spraying 2K clear. So with up to 300psi on tap I'm thinking this would provide the 25-30 pressure for a decent amount of time... Thanks for posting...now I'm off to build one! Cheers!

    to clean out these tanks just take the valve out the tank. it real is not as hard as you might think. especially if the tank has handles like this one. you a big spanner that fit on the vale. poke a long metal pipe through the handles and put a pipe over the spanner then a good hard push and hey presto valve moves.... fill it with water and leave a running hose in it for about 1/2 hour... then tune it upside down and let it stay upside down for a day.. now you have a completely dry tank.. i would not bother paining inside as compressor tanks are not painted inside so why bother with the small tank ? if you do want to paint it then you need to check in some glass beads and roll the tank along the ground for like 20 minutes minimum to clean the side walls so the paint will adhere to it... empty out the glass beadsand now rinse again with water to make sure all out and let dry with it upside down over night. next day you can pour in your paint and then plug the tank with something and swish it around slowly all directions then hang upside down to let all the excess drip out........ when you think its all out then put a bit of rag on your finger , poke in the hole and wipe around. now keeping it upside down leave it at least 48 hours to dry..... once completely dry get a blow lamp and slightly heat the tank on the outside still with valve out. now let cool and you know your paint is dry. time to paint the outside while the valve is still out... paint that area first youl see why in a minute.. paint from the top , all the handles etc and work you way down while its on a table. when almost at the biottom get the valve back in.... valve is only in to be used to hold the tank up in the air so you can paint the bottom and have something to hang the tank by while its drying/ leave till next day now take valve out put on some teflon and put valve in and tighten it down...... now you play with fittings of your choice. BUT NEVER PUT OVER 150 PSI IN THE TANK. IF the tank gets left out in sunlight the pressure will massively rise

    I'm planning to make an air tank like this, but want to coat the inside of the tank with rust paint. I've seen other videos where they do this by removing the top valve entirely, pouring in the paint, swishing it around, then dumping out the excess. I would prefer to just disassemble the valve like you did in this video. Do you think it would be possible to pour in paint through the disassembled valve? Or would the paint end up getting all over the valve's mechanisms when pouring it out, making it unusable?

    • @JollyPeanut
      @JollyPeanut  3 роки тому +2

      Takes ages for water to get through that valve so paint no way, you will need to remove the whole valve you will need a long heavy pipe for a good lever they are in tight but easy enough if you rachet strap the bottle to something that won"t move like a tree. Good Luck
