This is hurricane season in florida. Floridians know what to do.

They do, no doubt. This one is a little different though. The storm that is to the east of the hurricane is currently feeding the main storm. It’s going to latch its way across Florida and turn into a respectable storm in its own right. Typically these storms feed more northerly storms, but this one is going to continue feeding the main storm. Tons and tons of water vapor getting pulled up from the equator along with particulates creating a lot of rain even before the main system arrives.
This storm is quite a bit different from an isolated hurricane as it’s going to hit with the rain of two storms, then the wind hits as everything is nice and soaked. Hope they’re already getting supplies in place for this because you know FEMA isn’t gunna lift a finger for them.

Lived in St Pete for 26 years and people talked about how lucky they've been with hurricanes. And watching hurricane reports and being a resident it seems to be kinda true. Charlie comes to the top of my mind.
I live in the center of Florida now. If this hits the Tampa Bay area it's gonna hit me here too.
To all my friends, and all the people in the Bay area....luck seems to have run out! PREPARE NOW! All those practice runs we've gone through will make prepping easy. But DO NOT delay!
If you need to leave then leave soon. Gather supplies if staying and do the things to protect you homes. Also remember to move trash cans and lawn furniture to places where they won't be picked up and fly around.

I got lucky with Helene. I only lost one tree. My neighbors lost lots of trees, and their electric. Milton looks to be headed straight at me. People I've never known to evacuate are making plans to evacuate. After Helene, people are taking this storm serious.
Wildlife lost. They always loose. Food sources, their nests and homes. Is not just a tree. Is a living organism that provides life to dozens of species.

Other people will hear warnings and RIDE IT OUT, putting first responders in harms way because they have to be rescued for not listening - at least those that have the means and resources to move elsewhere.

Even a cursory Google search will show you that the "west to east" travel pattern in the Gulf is NORMAL. It is actually Northeast and it is the most common path because of steering currents.

I came to say this. It does happen after it take a northern curve in the open Atlantic but I've never seen it in the Gulf.
