How motivating and inspiring you are. Teaching other one-handed people is wonderful. I had a stroke 5 years ago and huge game changes. Your right, we learn how to cope beyond what our therapist teach. I started cooking and living o my own last year away from retirement homes after 3 years. My biggest loss is being able to drive. My powerchair gives me tons of mobility. I wish you the best and thank you for making this video.
I had a music teacher growing up and I never really questioned her arm. She always called it her "baby arm" and it was never a serious point of conjecture. But the fact that robotics and prosthetics are always growing makes me happy that you are able to experience things that everyone else take for granted.
Hi! My name is Andreas and I am from Sweden. I am also born with one and a half arm. I have been playing drums for well over 30 years on and off. I was so happy when I stumbled upon you on youtube ;) . Keep it up, and you can do way much more than you think on the drums. The only difference from 2-handed drummer we have to deal with is the balance and lack-of-joint compensation.
Thank you for creating this channel and doing what you do. I was born without my left forearm, and have struggled with self-confidence throughout my life. Seeing someone who mirrors my own experience - and overcome the challenges that materialise from having only five fingers - is very inspiring.
Hi Abbey, I discovered your channel after watching your guest appearance on Stump Kitchen; which was funny and fantastic. Thanks for making all of your videos; I'm sure many people are learning lots of different things from hearing your answers. By the way if you didn't already know about; Rick Allen, the drummer of Def Leppard also drums with one arm. He has modified and augmented his drum kit to allow his left foot do all the drumming that his left arm used to do and he is Vegan too. Please keep up your great work, it is inspiring to Us all. Thanks.
For some reason, as a parent, this video translated for me... like big time. It just gave me a lot of perspective on how to raise my kids even though none of them are limb-different (so far - who knows we may have one later). This advice is just straight up applicable to life. “You’re not your limb difference,” and not your limbs if you have them either, that really got me. As a Catholic I’m trained to meditate on memento mori, the moment of my death, at which point 1, 2, 7 limbs won’t really account for much, will it? Ok maybe that was too deep, but I guess I just was really moved by the simple wisdom of this video.
Hi there, your story is almost identical to mine, though I am older and started off with a hook at about 4 months old before being one of the first to use a myoelectric arm (this was about 1984-85). I fully stopped using any prosthetics at about 13 (the myo was the last straw, just too heavy, too bulky and the battery was good for half a day at best) and have never looked back. One thing I am bummed about though is I wish you were missing your left hand so we could be glove buddies. Aside from that, I fully agree with your message on living your best life and not worrying about anyone else. I am a little surprised you seem to cover yours up so much with your sleeve, to me it just makes it harder to utilize the end of your arm when it's covered. But that is 100% personal preference. Anyway, glad you made the channel and put up the videos. I hope this gives kids with any limb differences more hope to just get out of their own heads on what anyone else thinks/sees and just live their lives.
Hi, I just came across your channel last night by a random recommendation by the algorithm to watch your prosthetic unboxing (because I was looking up 3d model design techniques, i guess there is KIND of a link there). I must say that it has chosen well as you are well spoken, positive and forward looking individual and I have watched a few of your videos and enjoyed them, and especially enjoyed how you speak in a way to connect to individuals, especially the younger ones whom might have similar challenges to yourself. Have you ever considered doing motivational speaking? I can well imagine that you would do quite well in that field.
I've recently watched Finding Nemo with my daughters and my heart broke when I heard you say "Lucky Fin Project" after just seeing you as a little girl on those family videos.. my brain suddenly made an instant connection with the emotional ride that is Finding Nemo and combined it with the 'awwwww' (more because of 'cute', less because of 'pity') I felt for your story. I suddenly got a glimpse of how it must have felt for your parents to have a beautiful baby girl with this undeniable alternate body configuration with it's unique challenges and it hit me hard, also because it reminded me of one of my BFF's. He also has a 'differently configured body' as he had to give up his left leg as a kid (Ewing sarcoma) and I'm still in awe about how he manifests his personal identity the way he has, with his missing leg only being a tiny aspect of who he is and how others see him. You remind me of him, and he's awesome; you'd probably like him :) PS: I know that watching your videos give me the false sense of knowing you, but please forgive me; I can't help myself.. it comes from a place of kindness
Hi, method for using a camera: Put a small piece of velcro on the side of the camera closest to your "paw" side. Take a velcro cable tie and wrap around paw. It doesn't have to be very tight. just tight enough that there is no movement. Use 2 together if one won't go around said paw. Attach arm with strap to velcro on camera to steady the camera! (Velcro is the best thing that ever came out of WWII and the space program.))) Peace.
I quite using mine in the second grade. It got too small and never had the opportunity to get another one. We have had similar experience Its crazy to hear that another person had them. I always assumed I was the only one in my world. I also didn't the family support to help me neither. Thanks for your video.
I am so pissed at the 2 ppk who gave a 👎wut a shame.....shame on u 2 prayers that ur eyes b opened and the scales b removed from ur eyes this girl is an inspiration and so amazing and didnt let life hold her down and "made lemonade outta lemoms that she had" shame on u 2 God bless u girl ROCK ON
That's incredible motivating. Personally I'm going through a kind of a tough time right now. I just finished school trying to actually find what I like. And although I might not be your target audience I'm still very happy I found your video
Hi Abby! My brother somehow found you and your videos and shared them with me. Like you, I was born with only one arm. I love the inspiring, uplifting videos you're sharing. I'm a writer, and the book I'm currently writing is all about differences. I'm interviewing people with all kinds of differences (physical, learning, sexual, etc.) to hear their stories of overcoming challenges. I'd love to interview you for my book. If you are interested in learning more, please let me know. Thanks! Shawn :)
Tiny you was incredibly cute! (Not that full size you isn't cute too!). So glad you're able to make such a positive difference among those with different limbs!
I really enjoyed your videos, stay positive. I'm curious to know, are you able to write with your left hand? Did you have to learn? I hope my question makes sense. Thanks.
Beautiful an smart young lady. God make no mistakes. In the end adversity plays in shaping ones character and you young lady are well on the right track. God bless
This was a really great video! You're a very inspiring person. You've got a lot more persistence than I do for sure. Lol. I have a question: have you ever gone fishing? If so, did you have to do anything different from a fisher without a limb difference?
Thank you!! Yes, I've been fishing many times.. I actually have my own pole. I hold the handle with my hand and use the reel with my paw. It works better than you'd think!
Every try playing tennis? Obviously serves would be difficult but I'd think that would be great. I don't have a missing limb, and many times my other arm just gets in the way on backhands. Squash (basically tennis in a racquetball court) would be simpler for serves, far better cardio workout, but playing both would be cool.
How have i never came across you.. we need to connect... chat about how we game 1 hand and stream and stuff... ive been gaming for long time but just now getting into stream part

Seriously I have two and I’m bad at it your camera work is so good
Baha! Camera work compliments make my heart full...
Ikr its crazy but cool all at once?! 😎😎😀😀
You have two cameras or arms?

Very inspiring video and somehow oddly relatable even from a non-limbdifferent standpoint. Love your channel, keep doing what you do!
