Lolita, the pedo book and Lolita, the Japanese fashion style have nothing to do with each other. Lolita fashion was created to take inspiration from Victorian and rococo fashion and is not meant to be sexualized or seen as erotic in any way unless you are dressing in ero-Lolita (a substyle that uses corsets, garters, sheer fabrics, etc to enhance typical lolita style). Pastel and frilly clothing doesn’t have to be made out as infantile or wrong!
The Lolita fashion is even considered a feminist movement in a way because many started the style so that they won’t be sexualized by wearing clothes modestly, sadly anything can be sexualized

people tend to be biased when it comes to idols showing off skin or dancing in a “sexy” way. another example, showing off skin. If a female idol wears a crop top or something sexy, there’s a tendency that many will say stuff like “she’s a slut”, “that’s too much skin” or “her body doesnt even look good” . But, if a male idol shows his abs or literally performs topless, they wouldn’t really mind.

Coming in to comment on the lolita section. I do not want to come off as rude, but you have the concept of lolita completely wrong. It does NOT depict "short skirts" and underage girls. It is a fashion based off of renaissance, and mostly rococo style. It is actually a more modest style, always wanting the skirt/dress to be longer, and covering the chest and shoulders (with some exceptions). There are many facebook groups and even youtubers you can watch to learn more. I suggest LovelyLor and scarfingscarves. Please correct this, this is furthering the bad name that the lolita community is trying to fix.
Come on Hyuna's fit was perfect neither was it short, nor was the dance too inappropriate. We've seen so many dance moves similar to those like in Short Hair by AOA. Clearly the public just wanted a reason to hate her. Alexa- play "Roll deep" by Hyuna lol
i mean, the shorts was definitely shorter than i expected and some of the moves are “quite” inappropriate. but that's coming from hyuna who also specializes in her confidence lmao
Please correct your misinformation. Lolita, is a kawaii Japanese sub-fashion style. It is not meant to portray young girls in innapropriate ways. The definition you are giving stems from a book called "Lolita", and "Lolita" is a character nickname in the book, which is also a common nickname. that just happened to be the same. The book has nothing to do with the original "Lolita" sub-fashion style, so please correct yourself. Jennie's outfit was down to her knees, how could you have gotten that wrong when you showed a picture of the outfit zoomed out?
In my opinion, the Jihyo and Momoland ones are undoubtedly the most controversial, as they’re literal cultural appropriation. The other ones all just reflect women showing too much skin for the comfort level of men (ultimately), and Japanese people upset over being reminded of history.
I didn’t see a problem with Jennie, all I know is that she was really upset when her part was removed, she said she really liked doing 2 parts, and it was her fav scene in the M/V
lolita fashion has nothing to do with the book/movie of the same name and has nothing to do with terms like "nymphet"... lolita fashion is supposed to be cute and modest and was created as a way for young people to escape strict gender roles and even stemmed from the kawaii boom in japan in the 70s-80s where lots of girls and women made everything about themselves "disgustingly cute", many of which did so to avoid unwanted attention from men. please do some research before calling something such as lolita fshion "problematic" when it is so far from that...
The reasons for these are ridiculous. Especially the Jennie one, it's knee length and the lyrics "no doctor can help when I'm love sick" matches the scene.
im pretty sure the oh my girl windy day outfits were supposed to be shorts and a long top, not skirts. if they were skirts they would absolutely be too short, but i think the shorts underneath were real shorts and not safety shorts
@KOOKIELIT The term you were looking for is Nymphet NOT Lolita. Lolita fashion is a Japanese fashion based on Edwardian, Rocco and Victorian stylings (it's very modest with strict guidelines like skirts being BELOW the knee). Nymphet however is based on Nabokov's novel Lolita and the style of the character Dolores' (nicknamed Lolita) specifically her movie adaptions fashion.
Jessi is comfortable with it and she can show skin or wear anything it's not like she is under obligation to wear and others think is good for her she is a grown women people And if she wasn't confortable she probably wouldn't wear it cuz u know how queen Jessi is
Just wanted to say as opposed to many people's views Lolita fashion is completely separate from the book Lolita which you know is super inappropriate. It is basically a cute Japanese street fashion with imfluence from victorian and edwardian fashion. Many people who wear the fashion do not intend to be juvenile or sexual. In fact true lolita fashion is actually very Conservative cute and covers much of the body and has no secure undertones. Lolita just happens to share a name with a book. If that was intentional choice I don't know but what I do know is that Lolitas (Avid lolita fashion wearers) do not intend to make themselves into raunchy children. Lolis just like a very adorable type of dressing and like to express themselves.
These poor idols just wanted to make a statement! But some of the clothes were just too controversial, I feel so bad for them for getting hate tho... They never mean any ill intentions.
“And the blame should be on the stylist” doesn’t make it right that they still did it. And the idols aren’t getting “cancelled” no one is cancelling them it’s impossible.

If a female idol wears a crop top or something sexy, there’s a tendency that many will say stuff like “she’s a slut”, “that’s too much skin” or “her body doesnt even look good” . But, if a male idol shows his abs or literally performs topless, they wouldn’t really mind.
yah the people who always make these type of comments about what a girl idol is wearing are probably the one hoping that their 'oppas' would show their abs. Personally i am more of a Boy group stan but its still disgusting. I just feel they should have the same attitude towards women.
@@viditasrivastava6851 me too I am also personally a boy group stan .But Double standards in kpop specially for female idols are fucking ridiculous.....Jimin literally took off his shirt on stage and got no comments about it whatsoever, Hwasa got a bunch of hate for “showing too much skin”. 😬
personally, I don't see this as a double standar situation, is the sexualization of male idols, that we normalized.

I would do more research into Lolita fashion before making blanket statements against it. Short skirts are not even a part of Lolita fashion and it’s origin was as a protest against the sexualisation of girls and women.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that felt uncomfortable about this. I hope they do research next time they discuss a style or community they are not familiar with, since this can be very harmful
the confusion might be lolita fashion, the jfashion, and the different style of a sadly similar name which aims to emulate the look of Lolita, from the book of the same name. the issue being that the first is harmless and the seconds super fucking gross. no idea which they meant here, but i assumed it was a mixing up of these two things ;A;

Please correct this, this is furthering the bad name that the lolita community is trying to fix.
true. i actually see lolita fashion as a typical porcelain doll fashion due to the ribbons, colors and the dress styles
@@markleeswatermelon9263 That would be a lot closer to the fashion. But that is simply because those dolls are inspired by the same fashion as lolita
Lol I just commented about this as well. I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed this mistake.
Ikr.. A LOT of lolita is long dress and many laces and ruffles. "Short skirt" is definitely not a staple of lolita, instead it was the opposite
Hyuna has so many haters in Korea, that's why...
Jennie's outfit annoys me the most because it is way more covering and respectful than most halloween costumes.
honestly the only thing i would get banned from stage are high heels. i really dont want those ladies to break their ankle

We love Queens who clap back.
Jessi,Sunmi and Hyuna.
In my opinion, the Jihyo and Momoland ones are undoubtedly the most controversial, as they’re literal cultural appropriation. The other ones all just reflect women showing too much skin for the comfort level of men (ultimately), and Japanese people upset over being reminded of history.
“super short white dress” it’s literally sitting above her knees nothings short about that dress 😭
It’s the management companies that are to blame trying to push these idols to be more provocative for attention and free press 🧐🤨
Marketing 101- Sex sells....
True.... and it's really disgusting and disturbing when they do with their under age artists
3:20 "super short white dress"
The dress: down to her knees
I KNOW RIGHTTTTT
Especially the Jennie one, it's knee length and the lyrics "no doctor can help when I'm love sick" matches the scene.
it is not the music artists fault. it was mostly the stylists. Netizens need to chill out
Seriously jennie outfit is not problematic o dont know why people always hate on her plz leave the girl alone
im pretty sure the oh my girl windy day outfits were supposed to be shorts and a long top, not skirts. if they were skirts they would absolutely be too short, but i think the shorts underneath were real shorts and not safety shorts
@KOOKIELIT
The term you were looking for is Nymphet NOT Lolita.
Jessi is comfortable with it and she can show skin or wear anything it's not like she is under obligation to wear and others think is good for her she is a grown women people
And if she wasn't confortable she probably wouldn't wear it cuz u know how queen Jessi is
idols being in these controversies for the past years should be aware now, fans need to stop the oh they don't know line
Absolutely.
“And the blame should be on the stylist” doesn’t make it right that they still did it. And the idols aren’t getting “cancelled” no one is cancelling them it’s impossible.
Ngl I don't understand because some of the outfits these girls are wearing are very similar to stuff people wear now days
Ateez san is covid positive he have the virus but does not have symptoms plz pray for him 😭
Some times some idols want to wear things that show a bit of skin so....Make sure that you know the facts before saying that they are uncomfortable
u can see if someone is comfortable or not
People need to know that the idols don’t choose their outfits but the stylists do
If these people have issues with these idols outfits, they should see some of the ones American celebrities wear. No hate to them of course.
Tbh I dont understand why they found Jennie’s outfit controversial?! Stereotyping nurses and working women? Isn’t this everywhere in movies 🙄
6:02 As a Mexican, I (personally) don't feel offended... I feel that it would be hypocrite since you can see in soccer matches and September 16th (Mexico's independence day) that type of stereotypical clothes... of course we don't use that everyday and as long as they know that I don't have a problem with it.
It was more disappointing than anything, the fact that they didn't even bother to do any research on mexican fashion.
I've said it before and I'll say it again:
*THERE WAS LITERALLY NOTHING WRONG WITH JENNIE'S DRESS*
Nurses in Korea spoke out about it and felt offended/disrespected or whatever AS THEY SHOULD.
Nurses do a important job and costumes like this are disrespectful, if yall wanna be a nurse for halloween or whatever do it by wearing things that represent what they actually wear.
@@Sweetener044 they claim that the outfit was sexualizing nurses. the outfit literally took inspiration to the 1960's where nurses's uniforms are long and the theme of the hospital that jennie was in is inspired by the 1960's also. there was no any sexual references shown or done and that's the reason why everyone is saying that there's nothing wrong with the outfit. it doesn't mean that someone is offended we all need to accept it.

As a Hindu I can say that it does not in anyway look like our Swastika, it never did. I wish people stopped calling it the "Nazi's symbol", it has been in my religion and culture for several thousands of years. It has been deemed inappropriate to such an extent that many Hindus can't even have tattoos of our swastika on our bodies, or many Hindus residing in the West can't even draw a Swatika outside their houses on religious occasions such as Durga puja, Diwali, Navratri, etc. without getting called as Nazi supporters.
