Jacob, I spent my young life on the Gulf of Mexico. Now I'm a grandmother. Found your channel 8 weeks ago. My 32 year old twins have been watching you for years. I told them about you 🤣. Oh yeah Mom, we love him. I'm so behind. Absolutely love what you do. Such fun for me. Good job!!!
I’m a woman and enjoy reading a book while others fish here in Idaho. But for some reason I love watching your channel Jacob. Been watching for about a month now and I’m intrigued by all the weird looking fish, and how knowledgeable you are about each one. Thank you for this channel, I found something I didn’t know I enjoyed 😂 Prayers to you for an abundance of Lobsters for the rest of the season🙏
So, this will be a little lengthy, as I'm a 60+ year old woman who has three adult children. I can only speak for myself, but, I'm a very southern Hoosier, & only live about 3-4 miles from Louisville, KY. Our world, in general, has changed very much in the last three years. I stopped watching 'news' about two years ago. Seems that 90% was ONLY horrible, negative stuff. I've been following y'all about a year now. Absolutely LOVE ❤ this particular video. You probably never think about how a person's overall health & psyche can change very quickly.... BUT, I feel much more relaxed, calm, ..... and, believe it or not, my heart rate is much lower after watching this. I've always loved learning about anything that is new to me, & my normal lifestyle, environment, etc. Every time you explain (teach) about all of what y'all do, & anything about the Atlantic Ocean, I feel just a little more intelligent about our USA, & areas I've never had the opportunity to visit, see, etc. For me, that is a very good thing. You are all very hard workers, & definitely represent the good, 🇺🇲 American male, that are good guys. 👍🏻 I'm always wondering since you all must wear those waterproof jackets, coats, etc., well .... don't y'all get super HOT?! And, that's not even talking about all that FOG, 💧 water in the air! I basically just wanted you to know that YOUR personality with your videos certainly mean a lot more than most people will ever take the time to express it. Thank you for making my day calmer, & a little happier. Have a blessed, happy, healthy weekend. 🇺🇲
I grew up in Maine and your videos bring me back home. Your enthusiasm, hard work, and kindness reminds me of where I came from and the Mainers I grew up with. Thanks so much for your content and I wish you more and more success to bring Maine and the art of lobster fishing to the rest of the world!
I would do the crabs. You showed up in my feed after Leon, the rescue 🦞. I don't miss any posts from either channel. Why I love your posts is the charming humor, family, teamwork, ethics, adventure, ocean views and business details. I am Montana farm and ranch heritage. Always wondered about this harvesting as it is vastly different. Thanks for this perspective. ~Montana Fan
Amazing how much you throw back. Love your kindness, snacks and respect for the various creatures you find, I've learned so much. Cheers and thanks to your crew and videos, that I enjoy from Hawaii!
After discovering your channel, which I *thought* would be one viewing out of curiosity… giving ‘snacks’ to eggers, showing us interesting fish, and your sense of humor keeps me coming back! Thanks
Jacob , are these the same stone crabs that are caught down here in Florida? They just break off the claws here and throw them back so they can grow new claws . Your right they are great eating ! Thanks for the great job of explaining everything, we enjoy all your videos! Stay safe !
The wide angle lens and the rocking of the boat makes it seem even faster too 😂, definitely some quick skilled workers there. Edit: kinda makes their arms and feet look like they are moving very fast haha
@@Blackswan19874not the same crab and we can the claws off and throw them back. but there is very little market for them nobody wants to pick them and gov has made it next to impossible for somebody to do it out of their house to sell to public.
I have so many different types of emotions - all good - watching this channel. I never thought watching men catch lobster would be entertaining but the educational value is priceless. Judging by the comments, it’s also reassuring to see that people are still interested in learning about where their food comes from, the work involved, and sometimes, the dangers involved. Have to admit too - as someone who’s deftly afraid of the open ocean - the fog gave me anxiety as I was concerned about other boats crashing into y’all. Anyway, thanks for the videos and stay safe! Hoping the fog will let up before the summer ends.
I could listen to your lessons all day long. ❤ I find myself watching for comfort. Something about your nature is comforting to my ❤ whenever I feel sad. Thank you for being so kind.
Born up here in Nova Scotia I grew up loving the Atlantic and it's East Coast treasures, and now at 57 I have found yet another... a fisherman named Jacob! Been trying to binge watch start to finish and realize I may not be an old dog yet because of all you are teaching me. Now I need to book a fishing charter to get out with a couple friends for the day and feel mother nature in all her beauty (not fury!). Love fishing, swimming, cliff diving and now watching a good old boy proudly following in his great grandfather's footsteps! THAT IN ITSELF SPEAKS OF THE EAST COAST PRIDE WE POSESS. KEEP 'ER UPRIGHT, WATER TIGHT AND IN SIGHT!
Man, Lobster fishing seems like it has a lot less drama than the Alaska Crab Fisheries :). Looks like mostly peaceful fishing (I am sure storms pop up every once in a while that makes this more interesting).
Love seeing a first-person perspective of what lobstering off Winter Harbor's like! I couldn't be happier to have found your channel and see my hometown again after being away on the other side of the world for almost a year now. Your videos make me really miss the co-op and the early mornings waiting in the fog for the first run out of WH on the Bar Harbor ferry when I was working it last summer
I love the respect you give all the animals of the sea…..especially when you give them a snack before throwing them back as a thank you. Keep telling us about the sea creatures.
Keep em coming... luv watching your vids. I grew up on cape cod and worked everything from traps to trawlers when I was younger and make me miss it and want to go back out!! You make it look easy but for those that know... it ain't lol.. wishing you guys the best and be safe out there! ✌️💚
Fun fact, the lumpfish is on the national currency for Iceland. Many countries consider it a delicacy, and in countries that don't have sturgeon they eat the female's eggs (roe) as caviar.
Gorgeous video and I learn so much. The lobsters are amazing animals - so ancient and know how to survive. I can see your love and respect for the sea life
Just moved to my dream seaside village in Australia so the algorithm sent me you, Jacob.I appreciate that you throw back your unwanted fish alive, having just watched a horrific doco by Gordon Ramsay on shark fin fishing in Asia and the huge amount of dying and dead unwanted fish they dump, just so they can cut the fins off the sharks, relegating them to a dreadful death.Maine was the first state I learned about as a teenager decades ago, its always been a place I would love to visit. You guys work so hard, I am in awe. Btw, its whale season here, we are enjoying their frolics.
That fog is crazy. We get occasional fog in Florida, but it's nothing like that, and it burns off by 10 am. I've seen such fog in movies, but I thought it was Hollywood exaggerating.
I live on Nantucket and its been foggy like this most mornings for a few weeks straight now, i grew up in NY and had only seen fog like this a few times, now its normal
I live in the middle of the UK & can remember driving at night in fog so thick I couldn't see the road. I had to open my door so I could see the white line in the middle of the road & follow it. This was the only way I could stay on the road & not in a hedge! Scary shit!
Love these videos Jacob! Does it take about a week to check all the traps, and then start the cycle all over again? How long do you generally let them soak?
I love it when YOU’re surprised & delighted by the treasures of the ocean! ❤️ (I seem to better see the colors & markings of your critters, when you are outside the wheelhouse.)
Wonderful watermen videos. I had two great uncles who lived on Monhegan for decades. They operated the general store there and fished lobsters during the winter. Couple of tough old coots. Best to you and crew.
Keep the videos coming. Let's hope that people understand why the prices are what they are. Keep the fishing videos coming You have earned some time off.
You guys work like a well oiled machine. You had better keep that crew happy! How long would it take to train another guy? I grew up in Destin Florida. My family ran commercial and tourist boats. Ten hours on the water and two hours prep and two to three hours cleaning fish! I used to cry when I could hear the sea bouie in the morning from my bed. Rock and roll! There were many times when we would need to reach up to put a fish onboard, ratchet seas! Those days are gone. I am 63 and most of the people Daddy's age that I grew up fishing beside are gone. As a girl and young woman I loved most every moment. Went off to college then came back to work the galley and commercial fish on the side. Wonderful memories.
I just found your channel and I love what you do it's very entertaining you don't see many channels about sea fishing or catching lobsters and for you to explain what you do and show us different things you catch is always fun keep the camera rowing I never really subscribe to channels but you got me lol keep filming the great content it's rare to see what goes out on the ocean and sea floor !!❤❤❤

Would love to hear more about lobstering and the dangers of it. Just read about the young man who is currently missing and how it’s possible to get tangled in the ropes. I think people have a glamorous image of lobstermen and women in their heads and don’t realize how treacherous it can be

Enjoy your videos. ✌️
I see all of those lobsters in the crates waiting to be sold and I think of Leon...😮
