I did see the original video. I’m amazed how it looks now. I’ve said it before but your knowledge of plants is very impressive. Thanks for the videos of your vacation in the Alps. ❤ brother.

Yes! I love the vibrant yellow of the spanish stonecrop but it def gets pushed around by the others until it has a thick enough patch to battle with@@plantvibrations

Something I noticed from growing lots of stonecrops together: Plants in the genus Petrosedum and Phedimus tend to be quite big and thuggish as seen in this video. A smaller sedum called Sedum Acre is also crazy thuggish despite its size.
Some of my favorites: Sedum oreganum and Sedum spathulifolium are losing the battle against these thugs. I am going to set them up their own pot because they're beautiful but just can't compete with the others.
Another thing to add is that sedums tend to look so much more beautiful when they're stressed. The sedum album you have in your bed is very green but if it's stressed it turns a beautiful red/orange. If you grow sedums on gravel instead of soil many of them will change color and will look amazing.

Hello! I'm a new subscriber- you popped up in my feed because I watch lots of gardening videos. I'm a first year gardener and am now a complete plant nerd...hahaa! I love the science of growing and taking care of plants! Thank you for this video because I've been trying to find a nice ground cover that won't die quickly. I live in VA in zone 8a. My front yard gets sunlight all day and every type of ground cover plant I've tried to plant there has completely burned up! I tried my best to take very good care of them all, but it seems the heat was too much for them. I also tried planting Celosias out there, which usually like full sun- nope! They were all getting burned up, so I transplanted them into pots and put them in my backyard where they did a lot better. They were getting mottled sunlight back there...partial shade. I seriously think climate change is affecting everything. Even my Canna Lily hated the front yard! And I made sure she got proper amounts of water. She too did better in the backyard. It's almost like the hardiness zones are changing because of climate change. It just gets so hot! My Petunias absolutely HATED the heat so I put them in our greenhouse, which is partially shaded for a few hours a day due to our neighbor's tree. It also has a UV filter in the skin and now they are flourishing. I'm curious what you think about this. Have you noticed your plants reacting this way?

I have not noticed what you speak of, but I do think this Sedum could be the solution to your front yard!

They look amazing! How do you keep the soil from washing out from between the rocks in your bed ? I just made one and I don’t know what to use to plug the spaces between some of the rocks . I’ve noticed some soil has washed out . I want to put more soil in . But I don’t want it all washing out . Thank you 😊

Perhaps mix some soil with sphagnum moss and stick that in

Hi, new subscriber here, I have to agree with what you said. I also bought a tray of sedum and one variety definitely took over out of all the varieties in the tray. 😂

Do your hens and chicks overwinter in your zone 6B garden? I too live in zone 6B, Lansdale, PA and am concerned that the hens and chicks, that I planted this past spring will survive overwinter this coming year.

Yes they do! With ease assuming they’re not in areas that retain moisture

I actually ordered some sedum from you on QVC a few years ago and planted it around my Koi pond with several stones and it looks awesome. I have never been disappointed with anything I have ordered. Your yard looks great Devin. 👍😉❤️
