I've used these sedum tiles extensively in my lawnless yard. Every year I buy another 2 or 3 tiles to add. They root within a week and spread beautifully in no time at all. Very easy care, repress weeds and drought tolerant once established.

I am so excited, I have the ones that look like green rice on a vine, that have been passed down from my grandmother to my mother to me....
They both had a green thumb so it has looked beautiful for 40+years (in the same pot).as for me not so much..

excellent video! I've been using sedum angelina- absolutely love it. It took about 2 years, but it has slowly filled in an entire bed. Super winter hardy (I'm in zone 6a), very easy to keep controlled, and best of all---extremely easy to propagate. Like you, I want to start minimizing the amount of mulch I use, and this has already allowed me to do that. I'm gradually spreading it around my gardens. Plus, it's really beautiful- throughout each season. Deer leave it alone... rabbits will usually only go after it during the winter.

Interesting.. Never seen this CoCo Fiber mat. What a Great idea. How would ajuga as a ground cover (especially the dark bronze leaved variety.) work in your climate ?
The coco fiber mat is actually pretty amazing! i really like them. and yes i have friends with Ajuga, personally i loathe bugleweed, especially the dark black leaf ones, too much darkness for me
I use the yellow bouquet variety around my maple tree. I dug a circle around the tree. Sprayed a little Wisdom TC to prevent termites. Filled it in with topsoil. Put my sedum in between the roots. Then used clay buster fine mulch. A neighbor down the street did this to his tree and it looked nice, so I copied him. His sedum is a darker green variety. I like the yellow. It's something different.

I would add that it's good to spend a few years building up your soil with deep mulch *before* planting ground cover, because it's hard to add organic matter to the soil once ground cover is established. But once you've got rich soil, ground cover is an ideal living mulch.

Do you break up the root clusters? Trying to decide on whether or not i should separate mine, before transplanting. I feel like perhaps they would spread better... Thoughts?
I do not break up the roots, cutting seems to be enough

Hi! Would this type of sedum harm other plants? I have this variety and would like to add it to a garden bed as ground cover that has alliums, peony’s, and other flowers.

I am near Annapolis, and I have a very tall persimmon tree with no lower branches, I removed all the grass on my tiny 18 x 12 front yard. It is too sunny for vinca minor and woodruff, on the street side, I am hoping that my new flat of mixed sedum will do well in the sun. I was worried about how to divide the mat. (I hate grass lawns) I am moving the woodruff to the shady rear part of the yard near the house.
I found just ripping it with my hands was the best

Hi, I'm in CT zone 6a mid-August, and I'm planting sedum plugs into the mulch. How often do we need to water them to get established?
I’d definitely water them at least once a week depending on rainfall and avg daytime temps!

I have Spanish stonecrop in my front yard. It is not growing evenly - one side is more full and tall than the other, so I was wondering whether I can shape it? As in cut the height of it so it appears more even? Couldn’t find any info on Google, would appreciate advise from the community.
Yeah you can absolutely trim back the side that is growing faster. However it may end up making it grow back even thicker

Can you plant sedum on flat rock that is large and under ground so what you see is a flat layer of rock. So could I plant sedum on top of it to hide the ugliness of multiple rock in ground

This is what ima working on could we leave lil wholes inbetween the rocks and put the sedum in where the roots touch soil but it can grow on top of the rocks or thru cracks ???

I’ve never experienced it ‘choking’ out other plants, it’s vigorous but not invasive. It will cover any open soil it finds
