No one does it like Mr. Larry Chen.
Video, audio, photography, still shot,
action shot, doesn't interrupt builder,
gets down to the nitty gritty without rushing & best editing ever. This is why
builders are willing to do interviews & this is why Larry's fan base keeps growing. Wrench, burning the midnight oil, build, destroy, repeat !!!
👌👌👌👌👌🤘🤘🤘🤘🇨🇦
Love this dudes energy, he's killed it for a first build
I remember my dad having a mini truck when I was growing up. I hope to one day build one in his memory. Great video Larry!
I love cruising in my 93 pickup!
We had a white '89 doublecab Hilux as our family car. My dad bought it new the year I was born and kept it til 2006. The engine went through a couple of rebuilds but it had something like 350,000km on the clock by the time he sold it. It came with bench seats front and back and a badge on the tailgate that said proudly, '5 SPEED'. My dad had the front bench swapped for buckets, power steering installed and the front drums changed to discs. Eventually it got too expensive to maintain and he sold it off, which I now regret. It was just so clean. I'm sure it's still driving around somewhere in Pakistan today. There's an absolute abundance there of used, smuggled and stolen car parts, and labour is dirt cheap so you can basically keep cars running forever.
This is way way way more enjoyable than F1
Cool build! It definitely has the capability of achieving that single digit time he's hoping for.
Just needs a bed cover
This thing is so sweet, stupid clean and has a great story with history. Love it.
Love larrys minecraft villager “huh” after they answer his questions its nearly in every video
Love the story behind the truck. My Dad also bought a white 92 pickup brand new as a self employed carpenter at 16 i was gifted the truck. Learned how to give a 5 speed with it. Hopefully i will teach my son to drive it when he is old enough
Such an amazing truck! Thank you Larry for having amazing taste👌🤘🤘🤘🇨🇦
Looking at my ‘86 pickup in the garage…
900 to the wheels, that thing should run low 9's
love seeing all the mini truck love lately glad i got mine before the prices sky rocketed
this is nice to see, i have the same truck and been looking forward to building it one day
can confirm these trucks hook up like no one would ever guess. stock ls1/t56 in mine ran 12.8 quarter mile on cheap all seasons stock leaf springs. built the motor to roughly 500hp and so far ran a 12.1 on drag radials but was spinning 1st and 2nd. caltrax should fix that this year
Inspiring. I'm on my way. LQ9 swapped 94. I'm dreaming big
I remember that truck at the OC yota nights
Absolutely rad truck! Well done on the iterview as well!
Building the first SE Asian version of this next year. Would sure love to get more details on the swap. As far as pan and exhaust when it was N/A etc.
Theres a 91' longbed I see everyday in the mountains east of Fresno cali. Ive been thinking about a toyota build like this for awhile. I think id like to build a single cab 96 tacoma they are such good looking little useable trucks. Ive owned 4 toyotas. A 1985 4runner a 1984 4runner, a 1996 Tacoma and currently my Daily driver work truck a 2003 Tacoma thats supercharged with a 2'' pulley making 300 whp 310 tq which has got to be around 400 crank hp with all the loss being a 4wd and the spilt rear driveline.. Its zippy and quick and so much fun on mountain roads but still slow compared to what it could be. but I know the 5vz can handle so much more power! I'm just under 300k miles and know a guy that did over 480k before head gasket issues. I think he has 640 k on his supercharged 97 tacoma now. he raced a trx for fun last year I'll link the vid in the next comment,* he now has it on a haltec ecu making an additional 60 hp through the whole hp/TQ curve
heres that video of John's supercharged Taco ua-cam.com/video/rXqbvtBmtAE/v-deo.html
wild i live in fresno too which set of mountains up near sierra or kings canyon? i drive an 89 long bed and love seeing all the yota mini trucks around here
@@lildad559 up near shaver
Awesome job big toyota pickup fan
That’s a super clean build! Love that thing.
Build is great my neighbor had one of these
(but forreal though what's the outro song)
This build is so well done!
Let's gooooo. Great color. Cheers from Florida
Nice build. It looks so sweet and innocent.
had one loved it but grossly underpowered got beat by everything this ones a wet dream
Super clean right down to the exhaust dump underneath. Headstuds, cam, ring gap cheap and highly effective! Love it! Also Larry, you take the time to get the footage of the car in the beginning and then put music over the truck sounds?? Please please take a minute and watch this video. You are ruining it with the music in the beginning.
That was a sick Toyota Truck I Want One
I really gotta finish mine. Love this thing
Super cool build, these are the cleanest design Toyota trucks ever built. How much cooler would it be with a stock hood?
Might need the cowl hood for heat extraction though.
I have a 92 extra cab...I'm going to ls swap because of the video 🔥🔥🔥
950 to the wheel and that weight I would think better than a 10.50? Maybe the LasVegas high DA..
Had a boost leak that I couldn't find till I got back home. Should do much better now.
I am also confused, Scrappy. 900 to the wheels with that weight technically it should be low 9's. 600-650 at the wheels gets mid to low 10's at that weight. Either way congrats on the build Ken .
@@MrZeremiaH ya discovered boost leaks at all of my silicone couplers. In Vegas it was making 19psi up to 3500rpm after that it would drop to 13psi. I'm hoping with a lower DA and with 0 boost leaks it will run a 9.
@@kensshop7999 I'm sure you'll hit low 9's easy with 900 at the wheels. Boost leaks are the worst! GL with everything. You should do Race week, Hot Rod tour, or Sick Week next year.
@@MrZeremiaH thanks for the love man. I really want to run drag week and rocky mountain raceweek, just gotta save up some money to be able to afford going out there since it never happens on the west coast.
Not trying to discredit a beautifully made truck, but 950hp? I'm confused by the power claims VS the times. 950whp in a light truck would trap a TON More that 132. And 18lbs won't get a cam only 5.3 anywhere near 950whp. I've put together at least a dozen of these. Are you taking it easy and ran it on low boost and cranked it up at the dyno?
i got one of those. ls1/t56 magnum/ ford 8.8/ factory decals
Iam terrified to drive this.and with these word alone i approve this message 😅
we are building an 88 toyota pickup with a 383 LS
Love it! Would love it even bro if it was a 2j
love it!
Love it 🤘🏽
Let him know he's got a screw coming out of the passenger front turn signal, almost backed all the way out..
My grandpa used to teach me driving a stick shift in this car. Bring back so much memory.
Cool car, cool dude. Simple as that. 😎😎👍👍
im not saying he needs this one but someone needs to get whistilng diesel an 900hp hilux
UZ couldn't achieve the same ?
The UZ probably would have, but I couldn't find much aftermarket support during the time I was building the truck. I really want to build another truck but with a UZ.
ls parts are way easier to come by especially when building something like a drag build
UZ can do it. Can go well north if 1k whp. Building one now myself. However, it’s about 3-4x the expense to make 900hp in a UZ than an LS platform, which is why you don’t see them as much. The UZ is far superior from an engineering perspective, no arguing that. Just expensive to build.
Hi supper tyt very clean and to drive
Did he make it into the 9s yet?
Not yet, I developed a boost leak issue that I couldn't find till I got home. Now I gotta head out to fomoso raceway and see if it will hit a 9.
Ive got a 1uzfe v8 hilux but a ls swapped hilux wld be miiint
1UZ! Putting one in a 3rd generation 4runner now. One of the best engines ever produced honestly
What is that song at the end I love it
Can anyone give me the name of the outtro song played at the end? Almost as sick as that truck!
It's a work truck, it was made to haul trash, it was made to haul lumber, now it's made to haul some ass!!!
Love ur content Larry
Anybody else want more 6x6 trucks in the world?
YO
Gaptized '08 5.3L, ARP, MLS, stock port and valves.
Built 4l80e, Ford 9 Truetrac 3.70, Caltracs.
Factory KYB shocks, stock leaf springs.
)(fire emojis lots)
15gal to 100 mi😮
This is how to take 25mpg to 3
How do you not 2J swap a TOYOTA?!?!
That, or 1UZ, would be equally amazing! 😎
Kinda makes me sad that my dad's a pos wish I could've done something like this
Yay! Another Carmel Frappuccino of engine swaps... yawn...
Dumb, I see LS swapped vehicles everywhere. Toyota has a production v8 that would be just as fast, must have run out of content for the channel. Larry, you MUST do better!
So what Toyota v8 can make 900hp, easily?ls is a more proven power plant
A 2Uz or 3Uz would be perfect. If you can find a 3UR that would be golden.
@@keaganairey1413 golden? Worse than an LS is what it would be.
Anyone who thinks an engine swapped car is dumb especially when its a 900hp ls swap needs to stfu.
