- In this video I will explain the EQ section (or equalisation section) of a digital mixing desk. What is a parametric EQ or a high-pass filter, what do the settings do and how can you use them to improve your audio mixing for your church?

this is the best video i have found on youtube about this topic than you
Glad you found it helpful
Very helpful
Good work sir..
We at Agape Baptist Church - Kampala just went digital, so you definitely will be a good additional guide to us.
Thank you.
Amazing, what desk do you have?
Amazing! This is so helpful. EQ has troubled me for nasally sounds and feedback as well. I prefer to understanding what am doing rather than tinker until it works without knowing what am doing. This is perfect and will listen again until it all makes sense.
Great, glad you found it helpful
This has been a successful session. I looking forward to improving my church mix.
Thank you for sharing.
Great, have fun
hi mate.. i am learning new things today.. loud and clear explanation.
Great, keep going
Complimenti. Ottime e precise spiegazioni. Esempi perfetti.
Thank you for the video!
No problem
Nicely explained ben :)
I like to have the RTA running while I'm adjusting EQ, My ear isn't trained enough to know what frequency I'm hearing, but it's easy to see a peak in the graph where there might be too much of a given frequency.
Fantastic advice thnx 😊
You’re welcome 🙏🏻
Great

Thank you for this great series and clear explanations! Mixing the choir of our church on an A&H ZED12 FX, I always wonder if I should highpass the bass singers or not… On the one side, I can minimize rumble, on the other side I filter part of their low range when singing (100 Hz Highpass frequency). Are there any recommendations? Thank you in advance for any hint.
Yes, I would. Although they are singing bass they still won’t produce much in the low frequencies range. Plus always remember a high-pass doesn’t stop low frequencies, it just starts to reduce them. They will still be there just at a slightly lower level
Great video. I'm the media tech at my church (not a volunteer...we don't have those) and I run an SQ7. The biggest challenge I'm finding to a good EQ is the room. The acoustics here are a train wreck. It wasn't so bad with our old system but now with a 35000 watt concert array and given half of it points at a smooth wall in the back of the sanctuary there's a ton of reflection. I can sit in front with my iPad and get some great sound but once the reflections start (6 sided sanctuary with 30 foot ceilings) it's difficult to actually hear the changes. Any tips on trying to eq in poor acoustics?
Room acoustics can’t always be totally solved with EQ. Sounds like you should get an acoustician to come and make recommendations on fixing the acoustics before you do anything else. Some acoustic treatment in the room to help fix those reflection might be the best thing you can do before trying anything else
I want a basic setup on vocals for males and females since my system had many changes, and I can't see where the problem is.
Is it not important what we are monitoring with for example Monitors or Headphones ? What Headphones would You recommend for Mixing?
Beyer DT770 or 990 are pretty good
Hi guys, I'd love to know how to collaborate? Thanks a lot!
Hi. Brother why do I see comments and posts claiming failures on Allen and Heath consoles? Even on the dlive. What’s your experience with the sq5?
No idea. I’ve used QU, SQ and Dlive and they have all been rock solid. Never had any of them let me down
