Thank you for confirming I'm not crazy!!! I've gone to numerous stylists over the years, and when I ask them to layer my bangs they all say "Oh, you can't do that" or "You don't layer bangs". Yet, they'll criticize that my bangs are too thick, go too far back etc....but then refuse to do anything to help. To be honest, I've had to try and layer my own bangs because nobody is even willing to do it. Obviously my technique is not nearly as good, and I've used a razor instead to thin them out, but now I know layering bangs is an actual technique! I've always been made to feel like I was insane for requesting it.
@love Truth Read the comment sections of these hair-cutting videos--they are filled with women who have had no luck finding good hairstylists. Yes, there are some somewhere but it depends on where you live and if you find a good one. One gets tired of wasting time and money looking.
I have the same problem. Unless my bangs start right down on my forehead (no thanks) they are ridiculously thick. One time a stylist used a pair of thinning shears on my bangs, and that's about the best it got. After that I just kept doing them myself at home.
Fuzzy100666 Girl you need another stylist !!!!! If one of my clients wants layered bangs according to how much hair she has 1 and the #2 is THAT MY CLIENT WANTS LAYERD BANGS ! DONT PUT UP WITH LAZINESS ITS NOT A VIRTUE !
Me too ! And my stylist years ago did a magnificent job of layering not only my bangs but the rest of my hair to give it body, bounce and take off " dead weight" nobody is smart enough these days to do that grrr.
This is EXACTLY how I like my bangs and I never knew how to explain this particular look to any of my stylists!! Now that all the hair salons are shut down and my hair is getting too long again, I feel confident I can trim my bangs just the way I like from watching this video! Thanks!
Oh ya, it relate to what this person just said about hairdresser after hairdresser where they don’t seem to get it right. I don’t know why it’s so mysterious for them to do.😮?! This video looks easy but doing it on yourself is different than doing it on a mannequin so I’m not sure how it will go but it’s clear, well done. thank you for posting it👍🏻
I have to be honest, I love bangs, my hair grows like crazy, really fast, everytime the salon guy comes with a new bang video I cut my own hair, just like he said and I have never failed, this guy is a genious. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Love this video. No wonder my bangs split and looked crazy. All my stylist did was cut it straight across and did nothing else. ☹️ Thank you, this video taught me a lot.
I've been cutting my bangs for decades using the exact same method as yours, except for the last part where you snipped the hair with the tip of the scissors. Back in the 80's, they used to call it the "precision cut", which makes your hair look great even on windy days, since it's layered in both directions. I think you did a great job with your demonstration. The only suggestion I have would be to explain why it's best to wet the hair first.
I had a hairdresser that layered my bangs beautifully for years but then I started going to someone else. I really like the way my new stylist cuts my hair but she doesnt layer bangs like my original hairdresser did. Your video has helped me (carefully) to cut them myself and I love the effect. Thank you thank you thank you.
I did this and removed the "weight" and it worked! I have REAL bangs now. Makes a major major difference..it is much more texturized and so much more movement especially after I curl them! They are bouncy and very light. LOVE it!
Best bangs I’ve ever seen!!! You are a master at hair cutting! I wish I could get a haircut from you! People now a days can’t even do a basic hair layering haircut without messing it up!
Since Covid-19 started, I haven't been able to get a haircut. I started cutting my own bangs. They look alright, but not great. The finished bangs in your video look EXACTLY the same way as mine did when my stylist did them! There's no way I can make them come out as well as yours (or hers), but now I can make them look much better. Thanks!
Great instructions. Easy to follow. During this coronovirus, I've been cutting my own bangs, but they looked very "blockish". Cutting this way, they look fuller and move well. Thank you!
No hairdresser has ever cut my fringe like that over the past 15yrs at it does my head in. As they learn it at college then forget. Brilliant video & great cut thank you. 👌❤️
You just saved my Bangs !!!!!! My hair stylist is young and I love her to pieces , but not sure she is clear on texturizing or blending hair, cause of you I just helped my bangs , which I admit will need to grow a bit, but they still look better cause they are layered now cause I did following you ! I have done during pandemic actually the best 80’s haircuts on my friend ever . Thanks so so much!!!!!
Thank you for this it nails it! Between the comments and the points you touch on, I finally can know I’m not imagining things or being too picky, and not alone in my frustrating experiences trying to find someone who can cut my bangs to fall correctly and have a bit of movement.
I have walked out of a couple salons over the fact that the so called stylist asked me to pick ONE side I’d like my bangs to be. I told them they should cut them so that I get to decide what side I want to wear them because I personally like to change it up from time to time. How boring to always have it one way ALL THE TIME?! No thanks! I’m a proud subscriber and have searched/watched many bang tutorials... yours by far, the best technique I have ever seen. 👌🏽 Appreciate you for sharing!!! :)
That is how I like my bangs! I ask if they will point cut, and always ask to leave a little longer than my eyebrows. Often they are above my eyebrows and that I do not like at all and it will upset me forever until they grow out. Have liked them cut when dry just so they will not make any mistakes but do not want to sound bossy. It is bad enough I have to ask for all of this when I come in. I can do the point cut, of course, but I thank you so much for showing me how to do the layered look and do it properly. I know it is a little harder on your own hair probably, but this I will be doing when I need it done again. Often have to admit before I go to hairdresser my bangs will have grown too much and I end up doing it myself and then just do not have the look I want without that layering too. Thank you, so much!
My hair is really thin and my forehead is more flat than rounded, so my bangs are always volume-less and straight. I can never get that nice bounce to them! But I just followed this video at home and added a bit of layers to it, and the difference is astounding. They "poof" up easier and don't plaster to my face so much, this was extremely helpful-thank you!
Just did my bangs again USING YOUR COMB. I got a red one. What a difference a proper comb makes. And I'm keeping "on top" of it now so it doesn't take as long. The "V" is brilliant. The comb. I can't believe the difference it makes. Thank you.
I'm growing out my bangs a bit longer so they were looking a bit scraggly. I trimmed them a just a touch like you showed us and now my bangs look great! Thank you so much!! 👍❤
i just went to cut my fringe exactly the way you showed, and its great! i will never do the wrong way again! you are fab! Thank you for taking time to teach
Brilliant instructions and demonstration. Thank you! I love a full bang, but desperately needed to "fix" my bangs which had become way too heavy looking and just weren't laying well anymore. Your technique to lighten up the bangs and create movement by cutting in some layers was easy to follow an d made all the difference. I wish my hair stylist knew how to do this. It's weird that some (many?) professional stylists do not know how to layer bangs. But, thanks to you, now I do! My technique ss not as expert as yours, but I am very happy with the results I achieved. Thank you!
Omg ur the best.... it’s bin years n years I’m 64 now and FINALLY I came across a brilliant stylist!!! Thanku so much for the tip.... my bangs hav sucked so long and I just kept cutting with no spring in the bangs before u came along❤️👍
Salon Guy, this is a fantastic tutorial on cutting bangs and taking the weight off the ends. The point cutting in the interior of the hair is a nice tip, too! Thank you!
Thank you! This was very helpful. I ended up cutting my own hair during this Covid thing and as a hairdresser I thought I could do it. Well that didn’t quite work out but after watching one of your videos I was able to fix it! Thanks again.
I like this cut, and it is one that I have used with success. I have really thick bangs and my challenge is layering the hair enough. You have described this well. I'm working on using the "point cut" technique, and also using blending shears. Thanks for the video!
Hello, and thank you for your video. I go to one particular hairstylist to do my bangs because she usually does them perfectly. I like them REALLY layered; more than most people would! But that way they're perfect for 3 or even 4 months because I also like them quite short. Unfortunately she goofed them up a bit and I don't really like what's going on with them (there is a bit of a 'step' in them on one side. Like a blunt step) so I was hoping to find something just like what you demonstrated. I'll give it a shot later on this evening. Again, thanks for spending your time trying to help people out.
Thank you for sharing this technique. I’ve never seen this done before with my bangs...that’s probably why I never liked them...but now I know what to show my stylist
I love my bangs.., but my hair grows fast and I tend to slightly trim them while I'm styling my hair. This vid was extremely helpful.. salon guy is awesome! I just subd..👍
@love Truth Oh why don't you shut up? You keep making the same stupid comment. It is clear from the comments on here, that many people have had bad experiences with hairdressers, even when they do ASK first.
@love Truth The hairdresser is supposed to be the one who's experienced and knows how to cut properly ...that's their job. Obviously you didn't " _Think!_ " before you responded. Sounds like you may be a bad/lazy hairdresser yourself.
I just cut & layered my bangs following your instructions! Can’t believe I actually did this! Woo hoo!! They look so much better. Why is it so difficult to get a stylist to do this? I’ve tried many times to explain what I want, but it never gets across.
This is such a good method. I've discovered that I can wear a side bang now after using this method. Sort of a "puffy" side bang. Looks really good. The best "BANG FOR YOUR BUCK" video.
Thank you! My bangs we just sitting in a chunk on my face and looked horrible! I tried the left-to-right and vice versa section trimming and was nervous at first when the upper layers were so short, but now they're laying much better and more lightly. Thank you!
I've cut my own bangs forever - hairdressers seem to think that if they don't cut them overly short, they haven't done their job, so I tell them to leave them. Sometimes I get the bangs really great looking, other times, just OK. I see from this video why it comes out right and will get them right from now on, I think.
Tysm!!! My mom would cut my bangs half way up the forehead. HATE that look. Now I can do this better myself. Have yet to find a hairdresser that knows how to cut bangs & I'm not picky.
I'm not a hairdresser, just a client who goes to them from time to time, and no I've never had anyone do as good a job on bangs, as you have demonstrated can be done .....oh but I wish it could have been my hair being on the thin side would have looked so much better I think if done with these techniques, thank you for doing the video so maybe I can learn to help myself and my bangs.
I’m glad you are actually putting videos out .. in my recent experience it doesn’t matter anymore how much you spend on a cut ..people just don’t seem to know how to cut.. it’s all quick piece meal cutting with no technique makes me wonder if they are Learning how to cut online..I had someone give me face framing layers by just sliding a scissor down on 3 strands of hair .. I’m no hairstylist but I certainly had enough cuts in my lifetime to know when people don’t know how to cut!!
YES, just like my mommy did, she was a hair stylist over 40 + years. Of course I cut my own bangs that is how she did it. I miss her :) great video. I get miss scissor happy tho' sometimes lol
I’m so glad I came upon this video. I’ve been cutting my own bangs and they have been good but I’ve been trying to figure out the layers and this makes so much sense! Thank you!!!
I have been doing exactly what you just did only with dry hair. So I'm doing the right thing. And my bangs have been looking amazing. I'm not going to ruffle up the hair and point cut at the very end though. Too scary. I like your instructions for where to start the V at the top of the head. At last, I know. Thank you. (UPDATE: I'm back to watch again before I do my bangs. And I saw something that I missed in my first viewing. Thanks again.) UPDATE...UPDATE: Did em. They look SO cute. As a final thing to do, I make three layers from the top point down. Pin up each layer. And point cut the lowest one first. Just a little on each layer. Improvise a bit but the "V" is the VERY best.
Well at least I know why mine split in the middle when I cut them or they won't cooperate. Now trying to figure out when looking in the mirror and chopping backwards. Great video
Thanks Steven for showing us as I’m a client great to look out for I’ve had hairdressers in the past been scissor happy with my fringe now I always ask for a grown out fringe 🙏⭐️
Lol! I’m sure it’s a long one!!! There is no proper Farrah hair cut Anywhere on the internet /You Tube that I can find. I heard years ago that the cut is all the hair taken directly straight above the head and all length cut at 3 inches. All I know is that no one ever leaves the bangs long enough like she had them. ❤️your channel!
@@brigitb4850 yes! Then I could cut my sister in law's hair to shut her up about American Salons not knowing how to "feather" hair anymore. I'll be her own salon even though I've told her a million times to go to an old woman's salon as I'm sure there's an older lady that can remember how to do it.
I have used this tutorial time & again! I have it saved in my favorites so I can refer to it each time my bangs need help. Thank you so much! You made this easy to understand, even for people like me with absolutely no skill whatsoever!
My man, I've been wearing a fringe for 30+ years and thanks to your video, I FINALLY understand what separates a good cut from the bad. Thank you Sir.
Thank you for confirming I'm not crazy!!! I've gone to numerous stylists over the years, and when I ask them to layer my bangs they all say "Oh, you can't do that" or "You don't layer bangs". I've given up on hairdressers. Could have bought a plot of land on what I've wasted on them.

Love this video. No wonder my bangs split and looked crazy. All my stylist did was cut it straight across and did nothing else. ☹️ Thank you, this video taught me a lot.
I basically did this to my Envy Carley wig bangs......made the bangs look soooooo much better!!!!

I usually cut my own bangs. I used to take the whole section to layer, so thanks for showing to take small sections to trim! Love your technique!

Yep-- I have given up on hairstylists and just cut my own hair now. It was a waste of money.
Literally just cut my bangs following this tutorial and they look great! Even better than the last few stylists I saw. Thank you!!
Where has this been my whole life?? I followed this and my bangs look amazing! Thank you so much!!
Very helpful. The stylist I go to does not know how to cut bangs only trim. This gave me a great bang look. Thank You!!!
Out there are so many hairstylists but very few know how to cut fringe, this tutorial is amazing so inspiring 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
This was one of the best bang videos on UA-cam.
This is such a game changer! Ive been following this method now for over a yr, and it really stops my bangs from being piecey/clumpy looking.
Great to hear!
Works beautifully--did this on my own straight, thick, heavy bangs. Best bang video--discarded the others.

Wow thanks!!!!
Patricia T Same here...same age....fantastic
Awesome. It is so hard to explain this to the stylist. Thank you!!!!
Watched this several times, my Husband does my hair has for a while but this worked Beautifully, Thank you!

Wow, the art of creating bangs is soooo amaaazing! I love bangs, but I have curly hair. Still nice to watch. I love bangs

A hair cut with bangs look really nice great work.
Thank you! 😊
I have to admit, I tried your method just now and WOW!!!!!

Your dexterity is impeccable 🙌🏻
Just did my bangs again USING YOUR COMB. I got a red one. What a difference a proper comb makes. And I'm keeping "on top" of it now so it doesn't take as long. The "V" is brilliant. The comb. I can't believe the difference it makes. Thank you.

Here in 2020. Thank you! I work on the road and don’t have time for bang trims at a salon. Easy to follow instruction. My trim turned out great!
I'm growing out my bangs a bit longer so they were looking a bit scraggly. I trimmed them a just a touch like you showed us and now my bangs look great! Thank you so much!! 👍❤
Woohoooo
love love love this!!! I love bangs so much but I do my own because I always get butchered at the hairdressers! Thank God for hairdressers like you!
This girl never blinks...
i just went to cut my fringe exactly the way you showed, and its great! i will never do the wrong way again! you are fab! Thank you for taking time to teach

Salon Guy, this is a fantastic tutorial on cutting bangs and taking the weight off the ends. The point cutting in the interior of the hair is a nice tip, too! Thank you!
This is the exact way that my hairdresser cuts my fringe so I am going to try and follow this video. Very clear and good instruction.
Thank you for saying fringe! I KNEW they could be layered!
No problem!!
QUESTION? how do you determine how WIDE to make the triangle????
Hello, and thank you for your video. I go to one particular hairstylist to do my bangs because she usually does them perfectly. I like them REALLY layered; more than most people would! But that way they're perfect for 3 or even 4 months because I also like them quite short. Unfortunately she goofed them up a bit and I don't really like what's going on with them (there is a bit of a 'step' in them on one side. Like a blunt step) so I was hoping to find something just like what you demonstrated. I'll give it a shot later on this evening.
Again, thanks for spending your time trying to help people out.
How did you do the last part to layer where you pointed the scissors towards the head in the front? Looks difficult. Thanks
Excellent video. The triangle tip made a huge difference! Thank you!
Great technique.. This is the best one..I really liked it. I am going to try this to my self.. thank you..
Thank you so much for choosing a head with the same type bangs my daughter has. Thank you. Thank you.
Wow this guy is amazing! Wish he was. my hairdresser!
So perfect. I followed your instructions exactly and my bangs came out perfectly! Fuller, thicker and precisely what i needed. THANK YOU !!
Thank you for sharing this technique. I’ve never seen this done before with my bangs...that’s probably why I never liked them...but now I know what to show my stylist
Awesome
This is an amazing video, thank you for sharing your expertise.
Appreciate that
I'm not a hairdresser, but I learn a lot by watching your videos. Thanks!
Thank-you😊thank-you😊! because I have been layering/feathering my hair for years & always wondered why it never turns out right.
I love my bangs.., but my hair grows fast and I tend to slightly trim them while I'm styling my hair. This vid was extremely helpful.. salon guy is awesome! I just subd..👍
My hairdressers never did this kind of cut to my bangs. This makes sense to me. Thank you.
@love Truth Oh why don't you shut up? You keep making the same stupid comment. It is clear from the comments on here, that many people have had bad experiences with hairdressers, even when they do ASK first.

Thank you for this video. It really helped me to explain how I want my bangs cut!!
This is such a good method. I've discovered that I can wear a side bang now after using this method. Sort of a "puffy" side bang. Looks really good. The best "BANG FOR YOUR BUCK" video.
This is SO HELPFUL! I have been looking for a video like this forever. Thanks!
Thank you Sir, after watching this video, thanks to you, I corrected my bangs!
This video was great! It looks like something that I can actually use on myself.
Thank you! My bangs we just sitting in a chunk on my face and looked horrible! I tried the left-to-right and vice versa section trimming and was nervous at first when the upper layers were so short, but now they're laying much better and more lightly. Thank you!
I learned this technique from your other video in the past! It works well, thanks to you!! 🤩👍. You always make learning become simple!
Nooo waaaaay awesome
I've cut my own bangs forever - hairdressers seem to think that if they don't cut them overly short, they haven't done their job, so I tell them to leave them.
Finally! This is the video I was waiting for! Thank you so much.
I've had a hard time finding a beautician, who cuts my bangs this way! Thanks, for a very informative, valuable tutorial:)

I’m so glad I came upon this video. I’ve been cutting my own bangs and they have been good but I’ve been trying to figure out the layers and this makes so much sense! Thank you!!!
Nice. This is how I learned to cut bangs in Cosmetology school in 1985! 🙈 Works great! ❤ ✂️👏
Noooo way
@@TheSalonGuy Yep! 😆
Thank you very much, this is exactly for my fringe!
Awesome
The best video for cutting bangs!
Thank you..as a mom of 3 girls I prefer cutting their hair than going to salon regularly.. this video helps me a lot so thank you so much
I wish I could find a hair stylist that can do this. I'm going to try this month by myself. Most hair stylist spend less than a minute on fringes.
Thank you! Beauty haircut.
I always cut my own hair, self taught. This was helpful. ThNk you.
how do.u cut the back by urself
Christine Mott Hi. I just turn my back to the bathroom mirror and hold up a hand mirror and start cutting. 😊
I really like your style. I've watched plenty of videos on this topicthat never helped. You have really helped me.
Awesome
You’re a genius! Any chance you could show the original Farrah Fawcett hair cut? 💇♀️
I’ll add it to my list
That would be really interesting!
6 months have passed since the request. Any hope?
Thank you, I’ve been wanting to learn how to cut in this manner✌🏽🧡🌻
I have used this tutorial time & again! I have it saved in my favorites so I can refer to it each time my bangs need help. Thank you so much! You made this easy to understand, even for people like me with absolutely no skill whatsoever!
