Thank you for posting the video right before I went to bed! Thanks to you, I won't sleep for another 38 minutes.
I'm thinking the exact same thing! lol
For some of us, it was posted at 6:50am. Which one's a better time? lol
It's not slow-mo, it's bullet time!
It's not a bug.....It's a feature!
+tweixian hahaha yes!
Ew
I love have Bryan is literally still holding the gaff tape in his hand during the interview. Rolls of tape *are* pretty fun to hold.
Am I the only one that feels like they are going to release 3.0 at CitizenCon?
Shiny Wisdom probably a PTU release at that time. Release is still a possibility if they dont discover more issues while in edvocati testing
Me too. Since December 2016 where they say would be the 3.0
won't be ready for live
I think if 3.0 were to go live at CitizenCon, it would have already been in evocati for a few weeks already. It's a big update and we couldn't expect the evocati testing to be any less than a month long. Don't think we'll be getting 3.0 til mid november to mid december.
Deja-vu? Maybe next year around gamescon. 😂
I really enjoyed the segment on usables. Very interesting. Glad it's gonna be better than way we have now.
Doesn't surprise me you guys found more bugs. Once everything is fixed that's when other issues are seen. I think of it like sifting dirt for gold..once the dirt is gone you see whats left. Although idk about a bug being gold...but yeah lol
Zarkaithnia Game this size, some bugs might be worth more than gold if you fix them early.
Evito Cruor Good point. So yes my analogy works like a boss!! Lol
Zarkaithnia It certainly does, hadn't thought of it like that before but i will in the future to get through debug frustration.
An example would be something like a network infrastructure bug that causes service loss for a day costing tens of thousands if not more in the case of SC.
Evito Cruor That's right. I don't mind them finding more bugs tbh. Yeah I want 3.0 ASAP, but the more issues they find to fix the better the end result and since I gave them money I want it handled no other way. If GTA V for example were handled like Star Citizen it would have been such a better experience. I remember games like those through out the development which makes me patient and complacent lol.
ATV ✅
Sunrise✅
Hype✅
9:52 A wild Mark Abent appears
I love it how theyre not sugar coating or faking their meetings for atv. Just normal metal band tshirt wearing tired coders, searching for motivation from phone/coffee cups bottom 😂
It amazes me how anyone can complain about why they haven't released it after watching any of these videos, I'm only making a tiny platformer in comparison but I am going through all the exact same phases as them. Gamers just don't realise the kind of problem you can face in just getting a game finished, Divinity Original Sin 2 had a situation where the studio actually had a power outage on release day! This meant of course they had to get the computer, take it over to somewhere with power and internet and then upload it, causing a further delay, I totally felt for those guys because I had a hard disk failure awhile back that nearly wiped all of my projects.
Honestly, if a disk failure nearly wiped all of your projects, you're doing it wrong....
That's why you make backups.
Get yourself an external drive and copy your data on there on a regular base.
(I make a backup of my data every week. Never lost anything that way.)
Protip: Search on google for RAID, pretty much every modern mainboard has it built in, helps against those disk problems.
Oh yes, I'm being very careful now and extra paranoid about how many backups I make so I don't make the same mistake again, it was a learning experience lol :P I've only ever done small tutorial projects and so on but now I have a game to worry about that's 300mb when it's all compiled. If anyone is using Unity, what I do is simply make a full backup of whichever project I'm working on as my main thing and then that way even if you delete something by accident, it should all be okay because then you can just copy and paste everything over.
Lethn knowledge is the key here. It's essencial to understand, yet so many people dont take the time. In the end, it always comes down to that.
PsyArkron Don't trust RAID Please! A good portion of drive failures is a power spike to the drive controller. Use it for performance and backup on a drive that isn't connected to the power mains even through a computer. Cloud or external drive.
Watching these updates helps me appreciate just how much work goes into a project of this size and ambition. The entire project and all the people involved are doing an impressive job.
Nice ATV about chairs, very interesting
tune in next week when we talk all about fancy rugs and how hard it is for to make that the NPC's know about them.
Sopor I found this way more interesting than I probably should have 😂
Necrotex hahaha ! Thats good !
Well ... it might be a simple thing, something don't worthy to think about. But these are ultra complex and important systems because they will accompany you every day playing Star Citizen ... once it is released ... :-D
Harryontwowheels oh yeah ! I agree, absolutely but the idea of a full ATV on chairs is pretty funny, far away from the ones we got on "lightning the verse", "PlanetSide tech" or else.. :D
The amount of detail people are gonna take for granted in this game is amazing. I hope all this effort also gets used on other games aswell afterwards.
They could've told me beta was tomorrow and it still wouldn't have entertained me as much as seeing that guy laugh at his own toilet joke
And the guy behind him is like "...."
I felt so connected to that man after he made that joke. He was me and I was him.
I would laugh too lol. I laugh at my jokes all the time XD
My beard has grown a beard that grew a beard since 3.0 was announced.
Bradley J. Timm yeah it got delayed quite a bit. But for all the improvements they made it was worth it.
Bradley J. Timm shave my friend
Soon you will play your guitar with your beard.
so its a beard 3.0?
That's a bug, must be added to the list.
if there are people still being selfish about this, they don't even understand what was just explained in this episode. This is groundbreaking dynamic tech that HAS NEVER BEEN SEEN BEFORE!
I love the attention to detail. It really does make the world 100x more immersive and interactive which is what I love in games. Keep up the good work guys!
Love that found and openly visible enthusiasm for burndown
Great job CIG! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
Sonata Arctica!!!
good man.
Faith in Star Citizen restored.
Very happy to see that shirt as well!
I thought I was the only one noticing that shirt :D
Don't rush. I don't see a must-achieve deadline here. Yes, I want 3.0. But this week is no different than next week.
35:02 - you're welcome
Thank you :D
finally Star Shitizen
shitting: confirmed
LOL. The dude at the back looking at him.
I am pleased. Keep it up!
So I can jump and dump?
Love the Starlancer poster in the background, makes me want to play the game again!
Watching SpaceX Livestream right now , will watch this later
EPIC! You have a link of that?
Literally did the exact same thing.
www.spacex.com/mars
and with more content
Why does it always have to be this vs that, it's like you guys can't allow yourself to be excited about two things at once, it somehow always has to be a rivalry.
Both CIG and SpaceX are pioneers in what they're trying to accomplish, that doesn't mean you have to belittle one or the other, just look at them both as positives.
Keep up the good work! Iam looking forward to finally Play 3.0
Looking good. On a side note, it really annoys me when people are constantly on their phones in a meeting.
Lewis W you do know That they're not on Facebook right? They're checking email, looking at Slack, checking their notes.
Its 2017. Phones are very useful in tech related work places.
you're not the only one Lewis, I get that they are useful tools, but it also feels rude
My notes from my computer are readable on my phone. I'm assuming that would be the case here too. So no, I don't really hate it when people have prepared for a meeting. ;)
Checking email? Reading notes? Still not acceptable in my book. No email is so important that you need to use your phone in a meeting. Notes should be printed off or wrote down. The people should be engaged with each other in a meeting, otherwise you can hold a telephone conference. Thats the whole point of having a meeting in person.
Great job guys! Keep it up! Thanks for the transparecy within your dev process :)
The mess hall never die!!!
toilet metrix flush out!!!
great atv!
Keep up the good work. Take your time! No need to hurry.
lol... Chris is wearing two watches.
LOL !
Because: time zones.
obviously because timezones.. gmt and cst :D austin, UK and gerrmany
Is not a watch is a mobiglass
one is a fitbit.
Loved the Usables segment. So, like in most other games will every ai npc be right-handed? If not, will it be random each time or if you see a certain npc often at Port Olivar, for example, will that person always pick up a cup with the same hand they used previously?
Sutanicus' Sanctum it really depends on technical issues. Mainly the animations.
Keep on going CIG. You're almost there!
Love your transparency guys! makes me feel secure in my investment in Star Citizen
You are so precise! Nice job and good luck!
༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ
7:59 an interesting way to handle quality control, never seen it done like that before.
ok that "flush out" pun reminded me to like this video.
bravo.
Keep up the good work CIG, you are so close releasing 3.0!! Just. A. Final. Sprint!
This feature was interesting and well explained imo
Offically going to rename Around the Verse to: "Late for Dinner Around the Verse" due to your time line on release of the content getting released so late that it usually the next day. Use to be able to watch Around the Verse about 15:00 EST every Thrusday, which has turned into sometime Friday morning. Way to go on making things take longer on every aspect.
That sound is me chomping at the bit.... go RSI :)
anyone else think that Sandis watch looks a lot like a mobi glass. coincidence i think not.
I'm so excited! I'm trying to curb the enthusiasm but it's so difficult!
could we all chip in to get Chris one of those fleet captain/admiral uniforms rather than wearing a cheesy shirt every week
VENGE if he decided to wear something fancy he would probably get backlash because "oh look he using munay to bui stuff. Iz scam!"
I love that Chris wears SC merch. It shows that he really loves this project.
200 mil. Stretch goal.
+1 like for "Flush Out!"
5:26 That's not a bug, that's my PC running the game.
From someone who uses 2 watches... i would expect things not to delay so much...
Alexandre Boavida but that's the thing, one is for the time, one if for the release dates. But one of them has a factory issue and is working faster than normal. No in all seriousness it's simply impossible to accurately predict something that has never been done before. You can try but you will always be wrong.
hahahahaha
Great work, guys
You're doing great work.
All the shows and videos are worth the money alone!
Awesome work peeps! keep it up!
Looking good guys, getting closer, So much to do, You know what would look cool not just lifting up the box, But lifting up the box and carrying it up on your shoulder like some do. just a idea. Thanks for all the Hard work.
I like how transparency and process is being guided as motivation. It must be a Hellish master, but having spent 30+ years in production environments I have to say that I am hella impressed!
It's really hard. Especialy here where you have to work with an industry where publishers willingly make sure people think games are made in 2 years. Do you get a lot of self entitied geniuses roaming around explaining how GTA was made in 3 years so should be this game.
You guys... Have worked hard =)
I'm now listening to Sonata Arctica. Thanks metal dude \m/
Star Citizen: Making other Videogames look as simple and dated as Pong.
Other videogames has been released. When SC be realeased, we could compare.. Until then, SC is nothing.
Sit simulator 2017
its already less buggy than any Bethesda release!
+Orphican
Because Bethesda games run with millions of things going on at the same time, meanwhile Star Citizen is nothing but a project and devs can select a very small portion of the area to run.
Good job guys!!
You know, I just had a thought about FoIP. Once that's in the alpha, Area 18 will become vastly more interesting. You could literally have a virtual bar citizen.
Well. There it is!
fingers crossed for a Friday GO!
Toilet metrics done and 5 bugs left for 3.0... All I needed to know. Good job CIG 👍
Round robin for animations. Nice!
Tell the dude in the Sonata Arctica t-shirt thanks! They rock!
Oh, so they finally got to the Trainz 2004 issue between content creation and engineering development.
At 22:13 well that is a lovely issue in fact some people actually do things like so it would feel more human to slightly tweak it not remove it
Can't wait
In every meeting there is at least one person paying no attention and instead playing with the phone:)
Great stuff as usual. Really love the openness of the development to the public. Will SC be sold on Steam or will this have it's own client?
CR stated that it will be on Steam at some point back when they were asked about it back in 2013-2014 (whether that's still the plan I don't know). Hopefully that's still the plan, and that you can register your account to Steam.
Xenon 93 Thought Chris said Squadron 42 may be on Steam and other sellers at some point since it's a standalone game. Not sure if he had said Star Citizen will also be on Steam though. SC likely will continue to have their own game client and they will sell game via their own website since they get more revenue and do not have to pay a cut to Steam and other sellers on sales. Also their own client is getting pretty robust with 3.0 update, so really there is no need to have another layer or client replacing it. Guess only time will tell if they still want continue to offer SC on Steam and other sellers. Unless this was already mentioned somewhere recently that I am unaware of. If you have info, post link. XD
Johan Fourie it will be, but at release. They simply cant out packages to other websites, so SQ42 and SC will be on steam when packages get removed at release
The players sitting at a table shouldn't have very frequent movement from the waste down, maybe once and a while they shift the way they are setting, otherwise they just look uncomfortable.
Did anyone count the number of mess hall animations? :D
Ahh a cup of tea, an RDO ... and THIS! :)
Where 3.0?
Stroteg Segun is it even a question? Like, burndown and all? Edvocati Is about to get hands on it so expect early December for everyone else.
Only ships are usable seats? What about the toilets?
Nolan Beck you'll probably want to sit on something else than your throne when you enter a firefight.
I have a 325a and there's an issue with doing EVA's... When you leave your seat and move to the back it shoots me out through the bottom of the ship, then won't let me get back on board... It did work once though but it fails more than it works... You are probably already aware of this issue though!
Givy55 they are aware of this issue. It is common with all ships with small interior spaces. Basically, it originates from a physics grid switch which will make your characters feet move to stand position and will clip into the ship, launching you out as well as the ship.
9:22 nice sonata arctica shirt
Good decision to only release it bug-free!
0HHC it will not be completely bug free. But it will be blocker free and that's the good thing. Less crashs, less inconsistent behavior.
good work boys
5:55 didn't know Vsauce were part of the team
40 minutes of talking about chairs. K.
also an option for ships to hack other ships. But first they must shoot off a single-shot, expensive, transmitter of some kind that has to lodge into the armor of the enemy ship. That then allows the hacker to make contact with the enemy ship to do some simple hacks. However each of these hacks would take several minutes to complete during which the hackers ship has to stay in a certain range of the enemy ship. Giving the enemy ship a chance to fight back, if they were hit by the transmitter to begin with. And then there should be a final option for counter-hacking and/or purchasable firewalls or something.
I totally thought he said "console the hack" instead of "cancel the hack" so.... new idea: Manual hack minigame that's harder to back out of and cancel so it's a risk - but if you beat the minigame it completes the hack.
Mess Hall Citizen
I can see why this is taking so long. They are really R&Ding everything so nothing is "fake". Some day...
Joshua Horns indeed. It's hard to know how much time something will take when there is simply no equivalent ever done before.
Guy at 1:44 is on Grinder and excessively swiping left. Give em' a chance!!!
Do you guys think the cutlass will get more expensive at Evocati or at public release?
At public release i think it will
Scliff Rogue yup. The cutlass got a lot bigger and better. I dont have checked, but I think it has grew to 120 for the black. As for all prices, they will steadily rise until the completly disapear at release
Do you get full release free if you buy alpha version?
Breakfast Casual yes. You also gain alpha and beta acess, as well as gamma acess for the last few moments before official release.
Can't wait to explore mess hall tables in 3.0
I stopped downloading Star Citizen on 3mbps for this.
Where do I get that Polaris shirt from? I want one.
I am beginning to realize there are few development studios that don't use Jira and Confluence lol
woohoo! any day now :)
please add an option to pain ships and/or add like stamps and stuff
22:08, Hey, crew mate, get your butt off my table!
The animations of characters sitting at the table is missing the guy bouncing his knee..
How come they didn't mention the sale? Origin X1 anyone?
TYTFan Sig Because it's probably for the next ATV. Also because they are growing tiered of morons thinking they sell JPEG.
Yes Sonata Arctica!
JUST DO IT 3.0
On 6:05 movements looks very bad. Model is flying over the ground, not walking. Look how it's done in Source games. Movements are based on steps. Faster you moving, faster the animation is played.
Different styles of sitting ...ok i really hope those animations wont glitch in 3.0 seeing how much work is being done on them cauz man are people gonna get pissed...
So you need to sit at the table to drink? I'd expect to be standing next to that high table and just pick the beer from the table directly.
Mårten Woxberg actually that's possible though the interaction systems but you see here that he didn't use it for that.
