I was privileged back in the day to be a roadie for the Vanilla Fudge. Mr Bogert was an encourager to me. I love percussion and drums. An awesome musician, Teacher, friend and all around person. You must see him play live if you haven't yet. He will leave you in awe whether you play bass or not. I was always in awe when he played no matter how many times I've heard him play. Thanks Tim, I'm 63 and still playing and will be till the Lord takes me. All because of your encouragement.
Great performance and playing, Tim was one of the greatest rock bassists I had the pleasure of seeing him with Vanilla Fudge, BB& A, and with Cactus opening for Jethro Tull at the Fillmore East 1970 I sat in the 6th row right in front of him.
@@waynesworld7804 If that wasn't enough, I had the late, great Glenn Cornick bassist standing almost in the same spot Tim Bogert stood that night, may they both rest in peace.
I've had the Extreme Pleasure of knowing Tim Bogart for over 35 years. I was equally Honored to perform on the same stage as Tim and Brian Auger, last month with the Legends of Rock All-Star Band, and He is TRULY a Musical Monster. Listen and Learn, Kiddies, because, He IS the Best, the Baddest, and Passion is in every note he plays.
What a professional Timmy was! I just watched Carmine’s newest version of Cactus and came running back to this video with tears in my eyes. Timmy has got to be rolling in his grave.
The most ridiculous thing ever is that I did not find him listed on Rolling Stone Top 50 Bass Players! I idolized his playing when I took up bass with my Fender Precision as a 12 year old kid in 1966. As a 67 year old I still believe there has never been anyone better.
@@chrispile3878 be fair, Chris. I think Brian meant conventionally speaking, because neither one is primarily a melodic instrument. Of course, Tim had both chops and musicality to lift the bass into the solo spotlight.
@@chrispile3878 No, I get it. I think most people listen to melody and lyric and never notice bass and drums. When played together and without the "top" one can experience how much of the heart lives in the rhythm. The rhythm section is also the hardest stuff to play in that it doesn't play what anyone else in the band does.
What you are viewing and listening to is the best bass player to live on planet earth and maybe other planets as well. Tim was beyond the best. That’s a fact.
Like my dear wife says : "If he plays so good with a 6-string bass, why doesn't he play guitar ? Why not ? Is it the same thing ?" But she isn't a bassist, and she can't feel, understand the "fuel" of bass music !!! Thanks you Tim for these great moments of bass music ! Go on !
MI 1987 was the greatest year of my life. Tim was part of that..when I played my music on stage Tim's comment "Music to Kick your Cat by"...highest compliment..tho I love cats
I am an old friend of Manny Charlton. I remember back in 2012 Manny had a few great legendary musicians join him to do Hellacious cd. Tim Bogert was one of many great musicians on this cd.
I saw an interview with Vinnie Appice and Geezer Butler. Vinnie was asked how he got the Sabbath gig, and Geezer replied, "because we couldn't get Carmine".
I had the pleasure of seeing the original line up opening up for the New Doors of the 21st century awhile back and Tim did a bass solo In a way that mirrored Burtons style and I always wondered if he was inspired by Bogert
Any videos? Saw the previous line up with Tim..astounding. Was thrilled waiting to see the full original line up and then Tim had his motor bike crash. Looked in vain for videos ever since.
hey tim ,you were a mentore of mine ,,,,,,,,,,,,,tom collins sky minnies , opened fore the fudge in the 60"s you keep me hanging on THE SPLYNTERS do you remember ????
Hey Tim, i heard a rumor that Jim McCarty want's You to rejoin the Cactus makes perfect Band...Only one condition--You have to play a 12 string Bass!!! hahahaha
What a drag, this video shows up in my recommend list and this is how I find out Tim passed. It depresses me to think that when talented people die their talent is gone with them. RIP Mr. Bogert. By the way, who was the guitarist that I assume was taking a break, on this date? Jeff Beck ?
What is embarrassing is your comment. You’re “aware…” means you never saw him play, nor know nothing about this legend. Too bad. Do your homework before spouting internet largesse.
@@bottlapivo I have. I've played bass for 30 years. Grow up and stop with the hero worship. My former idol, B Sheehan, likes this guy, but I'll call a spade, a spade. This sucks.

RIP Tim Bogert, bass monster.
He wasnt just a bassist he can sing too
Tim was a great bassist. I remember him playing a P-bass with double split pickups and ripped the place out. Wow! May he R.I.P.🙏🏾🎶🕊
Hes just as best and good as lemmy and john ethwhistle
One of the best and one of my favorites. So destinctive. RIP ✌️❤️

Adiós a un gigante del Rock & Roll.Muy infravalorado pero sumamente comprometido, inovador y talentoso.
Descansa en paz maestro.
I will never forget the words “Tim Bogert on the fender bass!”
This guy is fucking amazing....saw him live in the 70's many times!

@@MickeyMetalmjl ABSOLUTELY!
One never thinks of bass and drums as being particularly musical together. This proves the notion wrong. Thanks for this, Dave!
Apparently, you are one of the few who thinks that way. Bass and drums are the foundation upon which all music is built.
Bass and drums are hooked at the hip in most bands. They form the pocket.

The Bogart, Appice rhythm team has been a favourite of mine since hearing the fudge on the Ed Sullivan show. They are the reference standard IMO.
Rock in peace Tim!
Saw him with Jeff Beck - amazing
Hearing a lot of Thunder tonight in the heavens. I know it’s you Tim

Most likely Jim McCarty.
His talent ensures he'll live forever through his bass playing and music though.
Mr. Bogert is an incredible bassist.
Tim is the best in the business. Number one rock bass player on the planet.
That sure looks a lot like a LTD B-1006....Can't quite make it out

Jaco only needed 4, but he DIDN't do this!!
The best
Take note all you kids out there is right! dessizwood555
Carmine sounds like he's had one or two (hic) :)

2/4 vanilla fudge ...
That is embarrassing. I'm aware he played in some good bands, but this right here is skill level 2 out of 5, and stage goofiness 5 out of 5.
In his prime, playing a Fender Precision in 1967, he was a monster. ua-cam.com/video/3qVqTpyLr6A/v-deo.html Short solo near the end.
