it's the main title from the 1966 Italian epic western movie staring Clint Eastwood. It's the third of the trilogy of spaghetti (Italian) westerns. the composer is Ennio Morricone. You should check out the movies. 1st) A Fistful of dollars, 2nd) For A few Dollars More, 3rd) The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

"Danish" may make one think to pronounce it as "Dan"--ish but the correct pronunciation is Dane-ish, residents from Denmark. The Good, Bad, and the Ugly was a classic Clint Eastwood spaghetti Western and the music was all in the soundtrack. Both have been used in commercials. The second is used for Modelo beer.

The tune is called Ecstasy of Gold from the movie The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. About the time this tune is played in the movie, one cowboy is standing on a box with a lasso around his neck. Clint Eastwood rides away, turns and shoots the rope. That's why the guy is hanging above the orchestra.

Not quite, because the hanging man is also in the beginning, being delivered to be hanged for a Reward, and then shot free by Clint Eastwood, after having collected the Reward, once again!

Ennio Morricone composed this. He was such a masterful composer This Danish (from Denmark) orchestra does a fantastic job on this piece. Clint Eastwood... the movie... The Good, the Bad, and the Uglly... the instrument you liked is an oboe, one of the hardest instruments to play, but if you can master it, what a lovely sound it has.

Ennio Morricone is one of the great film composers, responsible for the scoring of over 400 films. This is by far his most famous composition, for the movie The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966). One of his greatest fans is Quentin Tarantino who hired him to score Kill Bill vol. 1 (2003), Django Unchained (2012) and The Hateful Eight (2015). He passed away in 2020.

Sarah Hicks is an American conductor. You should watch the videos they did of the other two theme songs from the trilogy. They are just as good. It would have been spectacular to be in the audience that night. Speaking of which, it must have been an interesting day when she walked in as a visiting conductor to meet the Danish orchestra for the first time and announced the music they were going to play... The what now? LOL. And watch the movies, they are great!

It is two parts form the Movie "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly",
The Siluette you can see is that of Clint Eastwood, the "Hang man" plays a big part of that Movie.
Fun fact, The second part of the Song "The ecstacy of Gold", is played as an intro to every Metallica Concert, the reason being, is that James Hetfeld is a huge Western Fan.
The Danish National Symphony Orchstra, have diffent theme Nights, this is from their Western Night, they also have a Science Fiction, Agent, Fantasy etc.

I'm quite sure the woodwind instrument with the small metal neck was an English horn, which is similar to an oboe in that they are both double-reed instruments, as opposed to a saxophone and a clarinet which are both single-reed instruments. The double-reed has its own sound for sure -- can really infuse a mood. Probably some information that you already knew, but...

You asked how they come up with this. You can thank the great late Ennio Morricone who composed most of the fantastic spaghetti westerns composed scores for great movies like The Mission (Jeremy Irons, Robert De Niro), The untouchables (Kevin Costner, Robert De Niro). Academy, Grammy, Golden Globe and BAFTA Award winning genius, sadly missed.

Side note, not sure what the ratio is in Europe, but in the US, in orchestras, about 64% of the conductors are men, 36% are women. But as with many careers or occupations, the ratio seems to skew even more towards men at the more prestigious orchestras.
A greater disparity in that position is ethnicity/race, sadly illustrating how far we still have to go for equality in that regard; some of that reflects different percentages of the overall population, but even so:
    White, 74.7%
    Hispanic or Latino, 9.5%
    Black or African American, 5.6%
    Asian, 5.3%
    Unknown, 4.7%
American Indian and Alaska Native, 0.2%
Orchestral music is more accessible to people who grow up in privileged circumstances. I love it - but I love lots of other genres of music too, and many other genres are easier to get into on a limited budget. Got a guitar and talent, you can try to make it in country, rock, blues, whatever, without an expensive path going to musical colleges etc...

One mistake and the whole thing ruined, the work, dedication and discipline on display is astonishing, Tuva Semmingsen (Wah Wah) is a Norwegian mezzo-soprano and coloratura singer, she's wearing gun shaped earrings and her wah wahs are in sync with a harmonica, she's amazing, please look up her other works with this orchestra, I can't find much information on the other singer Christine Nonbo Andersen other than she is Danish...Ennio Morricone (1928-2020) who composed this is a genius and a legend as he should be, film director Sergio Leone (1929-1989) is also a genius and legend, both of them have inspired many of today's composers and directors and will continue to do so for generations to come.

If all you want to do is close your eyes and listen, sure! But watching the actual performance is pretty cool too. Many of the older classics, you don't have a recording of the original available to listen to, not to mention actual video - especially if younger and not able to collect really old stuff.
Stuff like this help spread the appreciation for great music amongst those who would otherwise never have heard it. Thus guy is clearly enjoying this new-to-him experience. As for me, I frickin' love seeing the waa-waa gal really leaning into her part! 😉
