Wow, great video, and what a beautiful cave! A quick note on the presence of sulfuric acid (H2SO4) in the halocline you observed. The dangerous chemical that may be present in the halocline is actually hydrogen sulfide (H2S) which is indeed toxic and your recommendation for caution is well founded. Sulfuric acid is what’s called a strong acid which means that not only is it corrosive to many organic materials, tissue, and metals, but in water, it will completely disassociate being reduced to hydronium (H3O)+ and sulfate (SO42-) ions. That’s why we can dump gallons of it in a swimming pool to adjust pH without fear of disintegrating like a murder victim when we later jump in. Hydrogen sulfide, on the other hand, is found readily in haloclines. While it is generally observed in gas form, it is soluble in water and can become trapped in a halocline because it is denser than freshwater but less dense than saltwater. Again, awesome video, please keep posting!
Thank you so much for the info, now I’m really annoyed I got that wrong lol…you seem to be pretty familiar with that type of environment, what is your background?
Wow. That was beautiful. Bones that deep? So, the sea level has been rising since, huh? I'm from Hawaii. Can you imagine just the peaks of our mountains protruding out of the ocean. Wouldn't that dive be awesome seeing the lost cities of the Hawaiian islands?😐
I would love to go back and check them out! I was able able to do a few dives on that trip so I didn’t get a chance to explore as much as I wanted…which ones do you recommend?
@@scottbauerbelow A lot Scott. Plan a new trip, only caves ... watch my video's .... (also on youTube, my movies are not so super nice as your video's but you will see what I mean ) .
Amazing video, thanks for sharing Scott
You are very welcome, I’m glad you enjoyed it!

Great video man! I dove a few cenotes when I was in high school and its an experience I will never forget.
Thank you Zach! Let’s get a dive in soon!
That was awesome! I've always wanted to know what that was like. But I have issues with deep water so scuba is out.

Awesome Scott! We’re you on a re-breather or open circuit? Great shots too! Keep em coming!
Thank you Brian! I was on open circuit
Nice video, around Tulum there are other caves with a much more impressive halocline ....

Sick video mate - nice format. Didn't subscribe because I hate being asked to subscribe.
Thank you! And ok lol….maybe I can cut that part out of future videos, or just feels weird wrapping it up with out saying that lol
