Instead of shelf liner I would get some cheap thin plastic placemats at either the dollar store or Walmart, and cut them to size and slide them inside the desk drawers. Really easy and wipeable.

random thought you could get a lazy susan for under your bed and put stuff on it so uou can fit as much as posible bc they spin so you can spin and anything that was at the back is now at the front
I would recommend u to buy laundary backpacks (it's like u carry stuff on ur back like a bag. It's very easy trust me) or a rolling laundary basket. I used to have a laundary basket where I have to carry it by hand and honestly, it was VERY VERY exhausting.
