Rayz Days it really is. The craziest part is everyone will make you feel crazy for wanting and desiring to stop. My friends are all in the same boat so we are all trying to stop. But it’s a stronghold that you will need friends, support, accountability and ultimately God (in my opinion) to help you overcome this. It’s really crazy people don’t realize how damaging it is.

Something I've found helpful, is to take in the pride you feel after resisting an urge and let that be your new high. Holding yourself to a higher standard really does wonders for your self esteem

Quitting porn is extremely difficult compared to quitting other addictions. I think this is because, unlike other addictions, porn addiction is deeply intertwined with the reproduction part of the brain, and reproduction is one of our strongest primitive instincts. Your brain doesn't panic quite as much when you quit other things; however, when you quit porn, your brain thinks that you've gone from reproducing multiple times a day to zero times a day. It's going to severely punish you for this because it thinks you've suddenly given up on your biological imperative. This is probably why PAWS (Post-Acute Withdrawal Syndrome) seems to last longer with quitting porn than it does with quitting other addictions. I've seen several anecdotes on the NoFap forum in which people said that quitting nicotine and alcohol was infinitely easier than quitting porn, and there was even one person who said that it took less time to recover from quitting a cocaine addiction.

Just wanted to expose myself and make this comment for the other girls that struggle with porn. It’s very common for guys to struggle but not as often for girls. I started watching porn at 12 years old because I was very lonely and was forced to be homeschooled against my will. It was one of the only ways I found excited or happiness but it makes the rest of the world kinda dull. I’m 18 now so pornography has been affecting my confidence and social like for 6 damn years and I’m done. I thought I had some real depression and anxiety, which some of it is from trauma, but most of it is from how porn has rewired my brain. Everyone should quit porn!

It's none of my business and not my place to offer you advice, but I feel like I must say that pornography does not have to be a negative thing. It can offer many life enriching things. It can offer simple pleasure, even just the simple, carnal, physical and visual pleasures that come from looking at physically attractive individuals indulging in something that you would also like to indulge in. That is a pleasure, and small as it may be, it does have value. Even simple, fleeting pleasures are worth experiencing to the people who want to experience them, and I don't think they should be made to feel guilty or to look down on themselves because they are able to value even the smallest of pleasures. But that's not all porn offers. It offers many other things. If both partners share an enthusiasm for watching pornography, it can be a great bonding experience that enriches their relationship. I'm not trying to preach to you or tell you that you're wrong for not watching porn. If you truly don't want to watch it anymore, then I hope that you get what you want. As long as it's what YOU want, and not something you were shamed into feeling. But if you like porn, and if you want to continue to enjoy watching it, then I hope that for you as well. God bless.

I have observed this in real life. I always thought about how even though people know something is bad, like smoking, they will continue to do it. I think this video did a great job of simplifying why that happens! Like someone getting intoxicated or engaging in porn, or skipping out healthy foods to eat something that *tastes* better. I’ve also seen some videos on how to use dopamine to one’s advantage. It’s a really neat concept. However, what I find to be interesting, is that, when you eat that pizza or that box of donuts, you don’t feel good about yourself after the deed is done and the dopamine has returned to a normal level. But when you eat healthy food, the dopamine will only rise slowly, but you will feel better after finishing that food!

Deficiency in dopamine can lead to major psychiatric disorders like major depression and Parkinson's disease and schizophrenia and more. These are the ones I usually see with my patients. Loved the video keep up the great content!
So in your opinion do you think people get MORE addicted to pornography and things like Alcohol because the psychotropic medication actually blocks the dopamine from being released. I have a theory that when the dopamine is SO low (like what would happen with too much of that medicine) that it would actually cause cravings for these sorts of things that make us feel that joy or dopamine release that they are not getting from when taking the medicine?

If you want a strong relationship and you want to feel emotions that you've always wished to feel then porn is not the way. Let your girl give you that dopamine because that's the only one you should have your eyes on in the first place. If you watch porn then she is just an object to you. I've been addicted 15 years and the amount of videos I've watched is embarrassing. It's not an achievement that I'm proud of and no one should be proud of it. Yes if you have anxiety or you are sad, it can help and if you have nothing to do and you want to pass time, it can help.. butt naked people you have never seen before that are fucking each other just isnt right. We feel that deep inside and we know it's wrong when we finish. What brings us back is that addiction and you really need to stop. I've stopped a week ago. If you are addicted to porn it most likely started when you were young and there are reasons attached to why you do that. If you want to end the addiction try taking that free time to meditate and think about the problems you have instead of pushing it aside for porn. When is the last time you took time for yourself and did something positive for your mental health?

Porn addiction ruined my life. I have been sober something less than 1 year (two times) in my adult life. Those have been the best times I lived. Now I'm 30, I relapsed and this fucking addiction is killing me, I'm losing hope for my future. I still hope to take control of my life, but if you are younger than me and you suspect having this addiction, please take it seriously, don't do my same mistakes!
I am 33, and been addicted for 23 yrs. Don't keep doing it, it will make you have low t, depression, suicidal thoughts, lack of motivation, no libido, every symptom of low T I can think of, it will happen eventually, it did for me.

I have a problem where I associated my bed with watching porn, whenever I get ready for bed it’s like my brain flips a switch and forces me to watch porn. Basically I can’t properly fall asleep without PMO’ing which is a real problem because it keeps me awake when I should be sleeping.
Move your room around, change the position of everything in your room as best you can. Try that. And try fixing on another activity, like 50 push ups before bed. You'll get a rush, and feel satisfied.

@@bonzo3601 easier said then done is all I can say. Allot of those things you can use that energy for are things you need to be in a position to do. I know I'm just making excuses but when you have autism, anxiety, ocd, ptsd, clinical depression, and worst of all not many friends. Its allot more trouble then someone who's sitting pretty and has the world at his feet.

To be fair, eroges help me in my loveless life a lot, I was extremelly depressed before I Steam started to allow adult gaming and had several suicide attempts because I'm a virgin 38 year old man. There is no "getting better" to some people, I've tried for 20 years and it was never enough, I'm fit, I have a good career
And I am social, but never manage to climb out of the friendzone, to the point I've considered sexually assaulting women as a way to get it done (prostitution is illegal where I live).
Then Steam allowed Shoujo-AI to be sold in the platform and...well, all of my needs got covered, I feel no shame, no suicide thoughts anymore and I've got no more rape fantasies, but I keep seeing everywhere that "I'm supposedly living my life wrong".
7 Years addiction and now I'm starving to overcome this shit even though it's really hard when the urge come
