I have recently visited Shanghai and witnessed how the Chinese local government resolves residents’ issues. A local government employee called my tour guide while we were on a tour. After our guide hung up the phone, he told us that he called the local government and reported a stretch of road in his community was full of potholes because the pavement had been delayed and there was a major storm recently. (Our guide lives in a village outside Shanghai.) The call that he got was from the local government employee soliciting his feedback after they sent workers to fix the potholes and sent a request to the contractors to finish the pavement as soon as they could. Basically, it was a follow-up call. I asked our guide when he reported the issues, and he said about a week ago. I was amazed.

Thankyou Dr O and Jerry Grey for China insight. I always knew China is so much a better country and place to live compared to those in US or UK. I am from Malaysia, we able to live peacefully amongst multi culture and multi-races and multi-religion. Yes, we do have some crime, but it always turned out committed by illegal immigrant. Petty thief does happen usually in the coming festive seasons for obvious reasons. But overall Malaysia is a very peaceful country, foreigners will feel safe to travel around the cities in Malaysia. Yes, Jerry Grey rightly pointed out we Asian generally were respectful towards our authorities as they worked hard to make us feel safe. You can never find such horrible place like the one in Kensington Ave Philadelphia USA in China, Vietnam, Indonesia or Malaysia because we have strict law against drugs. So please do make an afford to come and visit us in Malaysia or ASEAN countries.

I learnt a number of points from him although I knew this from my visit at a Hong Kong museum concerning how Tibet was part of China ... if you study the artefacts. The Chinese kingdom always had Tibetan monks at their ceremonies. Study the icons. These are present not only in museums but beyond Mongolia and present-day China. Jerry Grey is correct about the British bit.

      1. The Desert Highway runs across Xinjiang's 2nd largest Desert - over 7 hrs journey with some Rest stops in between.
      2. Wind Farms spread throughout the Region - Wind Turbines are so huge!
      3. 5G is available even in the Northernmost tip of Xinjiang, ie on top of the Mt. and where 4 countries meet - China, Mongolia, Russia & Kazakhstan.
      4. HSR connects most major cities.
      5. In new hotels, the rooms have Voice Activated Switches.
      6. The Guozigou Bridge - highest cable stayed Bridge in West China opened in 2011.
Toured Central Xinjiang along the Silk Road in 1995. Journey then was quite tough due to lack of proper infrastructures. Now there're also roads leading to every village to enable farmers to bring their goods to sell in the city. Travelling around Xinjiang now is a breeze.

I have a view of Kevin Rudd which is not as rosy as it should be - he came to power in Australia and I was in China at the time, many people here were very pleased to see another global leader who could speak Chinese and this impressed people here a lot - I wasn't a huge fan of his as a PM but he was ok, I disliked how he was deposed by people he trusted and I 100% supported his push to get Murdoch media out of such a controlling position, however, it was clear that, after a while he was either bought off, scared off, or just lost interest, I wasn't sure what it was and then it was announced that the government had given him the plum post of Australia's Ambassador to the USA and I reaslised - he's been bought - I can't see any oter explanation other than this was his reward for pulling back from destroying Murdoch. In sort, he disappointed me enormously and lost all my respect

That’s a classical example of behavior study which dictates behavior originates heavily from culture, specifically from family origins, whilst good behavior can be promoted from selective and preemptive crime protection mechanism.

Zhuge Liang is the strategist and prime minister of State of Shu during China's Three Kingdom period (220-280AD). He is one of the main characters in Romance of Three Kingdom.
Sima Yi was his arch nemesis, the strategist and prime minister of the State of Wei, and his grand son was the ultimate winner of the Three Kingdom, becoming the emperor and founder of the Jin dynasty.
Hence, when they talk about Zhuge, came the question where is Sima Yi.

China has started to build the latest township near the LAC and I believe China will build a couple more of such township along the border. Remember the 62 border war, where an Australian reporter rightly asked "how come India did not know that China had build a highway along the disputed area, if indeed that space belonged to India> On the whole, I don't think China is going to bogged down by India's rhetoric!

India is not sincere to talk on the LAC with China knowing well that British is the culprit enlarged the land and gave it to India.
India is in debt to British to merged Sikkim and Assam to India.
So India cannot offence the West in order to cling onto these extra lands if not British will voice out that Assam and Sikkim are independent country.

Nice to see two great truth-tellers working together.
As someone who lives in China I recommend Jerry. His views are real and true to life and without exaggeration or bias.
As for the cctv question, I'd just like to say that where I live (North East China) people don't live in fear of the police, and we don't have a sense of being watched.
People commit road traffic crimes all the time (jumping red lights etc) and people aren't looking over their shoulder all the time, afraid of being caught.
As a comparison, it's not unusual in the UK for someone to receive a parking fine in the post, having been caught on camera in a no stopping zone.

We've been to China a number of times. Every time we see more significant improvements, and it is just amazing how much infrastructure has been constructed over the past decade alone. The provision of visa free travel is a really smart move, since it will encourage inward tourism, and help the reality to spread in the blindfolded West.

Sima Yi is like the arch-enemy of Zhuge Liang in the period of the 3 kingdoms. It’s said that they are equivalent in terms of intelligence and wisdom, and they are strategists from 2 opposing factions. Even though they are both prime ministers, Eventually Sima Yi’s decendents came to overcome all the enemies and reunite the China - becoming the emperor - while Zhuge Liang lost due to old age and an incompetent king that he was supporting.

0:00 I truly admire Zhuge Liang for his dedication and loyalty while serving under an unworthy and incompetent Emperor. Was once told by my China guide that all students are required to study the history of The 3 Kingdoms. They usually need to read it at least 3 to 5 times to be familiar with so many characters who were involved in this long history.

Unconvinced re the inability of the US $ to collapse as a useful medium of exchange. As for the predictions of the Financial Sector - remember this was the SAME sector that was "unable" to see the problems leading up to the 2008 crisis. Even if the US $ manages to retain "Reserve" status, if no-one chooses to use it, then it ceases to be an effective means of exchange, and those holding US Debt may well demand repayment in a currency NOT under US control. When (not if) that happens, we will all be in for interesting times.

Jerry is a good man that understands China, Australia and UK very well also he has a great channel that as an Australian I follow. I have learnt the basic structure of how the Chinese system works and impressed me yet when I try to explain to someone in Australia or to a USAmerican. Iam either called a CCP shill or they say what about Tiananmen square, Muslims in China (Iam Muslim never had an issue in China), Taiwan or Hong Kong. Which is not what Iam trying to explain as they are different issues.

It’s inevitable to go into rubbish when reserve currency lost its political independence and flood with inflated value. History told us all hegemon bankrupted from overspending, and at about 70% of its hegemonic life is the tipping point where de-currency moves from gradually and steadily into suddenly and catastrophically. The good part of the story is we are lucky to had survived the past 70% of dollar hegemonic life till today, but the sad part is we will have to suffer another decade or decades before free from dollar reign.
