I kind of disagree, I felt like it was focused on having a "game" atmosphere, like... Less cinematic and immersive than the others, I felt like 1 and 2 added so much to it, like, i almost forgot I was playing a game in the last 2 but the 1's constant game clichets reminded me every now and then that it's a videogame

You aren’t alone in thinking this, it’s almost like the franchise is slightly embarrassed by some elements of the first and have softened them up a bit. That or something else like a focus on mass marketability has altered it some. Still fantastic games all around.

@@brady9592 yk what, i fully believe that the director of bayo 2 simply understood the assignment when it came to the camp, sass and overall story that the franchise had. from the OPENING act ALL the way down to the ending, it was the best among the three (bayo 1 in the second)
but ! gameplay wise, bayo 3 amplifies the serious mode in 1 + further expands on the power of Umbran Climax in 2. i liked the multiverse concepts but they couldn't exactly fill EEAAO's perspective on life (based on singularity's line that feel closer to jobu tupaki's view on things) but does more than what marvel did with Multiverse of Madness.

I feel like Bayo 1 flowed together really well in displaying who Bayonetta is, with sexy animations and cutscenes while lacing in its plot and story pretty nicely. Haven’t finished Bayo 3 yet, but at least in terms of story, I think Bayo 1’s story has been much better overall tbh

I love Bayo 1 but combat wise I think 2 had it the best. It still kept the atmosphere of the first game but the Umbran Climax and still deciding to use torture attacks instead of the climax really made it interesting. Bayo 3 kinda took away from that with taking torture attacks away which can now only be caused via the stunning of enemies through your demon slave which requires you to use Demon Slave in order to get access to a field of the game that wasn't locked before in the previous games. I love Demon Slave, but, I think they should have made it more of a talent where you gotta pick between either Demon Slave or Umbran Climax.

Bayonetta 2's my favourite of the trilogy. It's a straight upgrade from 1 in almost every way and while 3 has higher highs, it's also got lower lows and I won't spoil anything but I can't look past some of those lows. There's also a matter of preferred gameplay style here since 3 has amazing combat but changes some things I quite enjoyed, such as weapon loadouts and Torture Attacks.
There is 2 more thing that struck out to me when comparing the games and that's tutorials and progression.
1 and 2 have obtrusive tutorials but they get the point across while 3 has small pop-ups that are easily missed but don't break the flow of gameplay. It's definitely a matter of personal preference but I think 1 and 2 do a better job at communicating the core mechanics, whereas 3 can blindside you if you forget to hit + as soon as a new sequence begins. Although, with how many gameplay styles 3 has, I don't think the practice voids and menus would've worked in 3 anyway.
But as for progression, 1 had you buy most upgrades with some being awarded for story progression. 2 is purely store bought. And 3 is mostly story progression with a skill tree system. 3, of course, takes this by a landslide. The new abilities awarded by the skill tree are very nice and it's nice to get some story reasons as to why Bayonetta is getting some new tools. It also means you can buy items and rewards without needing to worry about having enough for vital techniques like Bat Within or After Burner Kick.

Fun video! I hate having to choose the best in a series like this, because every game is an absolute masterpiece and they all deserve to be played. However, it is fun to dissect them and see what strengths each one has over its siblings as long as no one takes it too seriously. I think the first one has the best music, because not only is it amazing, but it's key tracks are continued to be used throughout the series (Let's Dance Boys, especially) and they never get old. Also, I think if you were to have a category for graphics/art, then Bayo 2 would win that, since it's levels are more colorful and polished than 1 and 3's. The combat has been iterated and improved upon in every game, so naturally the newest game has the best combat as it has all the good stuff of its predecessors, while also adding a ton of new features and weapons. At the end of the day, it's great having a series like this where every game is a complete banger and they all bring their own charm to an amazing series.

It's honestly really hard to say which Bayonetta game is the best, if you are a casual most likely bayo 2 and 3 are your favorites since the games are way less complex and hard compared to bayo 1 and the special of those two games is clearly better than bayo 1 but if you love complex combat that greatly rewards you for mastering it then bayo 1 is a clear choice it's way harder than the other games and is just so rewarding it doesn't have the problem of bayo 2 where the combat is watered down and the only way to good damage is with umbran climax or Bayonetta 3 problem of forcing you to use demon slaves to get a pure platinum. Bayonetta 1 clearly loses in the graphics but it's a game made in 2009 and with the graphics it does have its really impressive of course not better than bayo 2 but still impressive.
Over all its really hard to say which Bayonetta game is the best most people hate how hard bayo 1 is for the casual player but most casual players will never want to learn the very very in depth combat while bayo 2 gets complaints from the hard-core players of the combat being really bad compared to 1 but it is a way more beginner friendly for casuals and has better graphics and honestly bayo 3 .... it's to early to decide, most hard-core players at the very least think it's better than bayo 2 since it brought back some of the deep combat and casuals seem to love demon slaves.

Bayonetta 1 is the best. It have the best combat, technically a deeper system that is more satisfying to master and play. With each iteration it became more mainstream and button smasher. Sure Bayonetta 3 have a lot of cool things you can do, but it's more casual. Story and character, both 1&2 are great. 3 was bad, there was no good dialogue or character interactions that show cased their personalities. They either act out of character or doing some cringing stuff, and not in the good fun cringe. Viola is a mix bag, people seem to hate or love her. I'm neutral, wouldn't miss her or excited if the next game feature her or not. Bayonetta 1 have the best level design and artistic direction. The color might be muted but the architect looked great, you can sense the artists' vision. Also, how some stages are set up, they created some interesting interactions and platforming that add to the experience. Bayonetta 3 have big, plain, boring, generic levels that doesn't seem to have any artistic vision. Just a bunch of random assets drop into the map. Those big maps and puzzles don't fit the game fast pace action either. Bayonetta 1 have the best enemy design, both in how they look and fight. The boss battles were memorable. The fights with Jeanne is arguably one of the best fights in gaming history. 2 have some nice fights, but 3, I don't recall anything and I just beat it the 2nd time. The enemies just felt all the same. Although the infernals that we control in 3 do look sick! I love the sound track of all 3. I like the look of Bayonetta in the first game the best. She looked more like a witch and a dominatrix. In part 3 they changed her proportion to be closer to real anatomy and her facial structure to look more cutesy. And those tik tok dance moves...I don't know. I don't hate it, but it just seem out of character.

Also the camera in 3 is horrible, due to the stages being so big. You dont get that sense of doing all your combos and dodges because the camera is so far from the action. I went back and installed Bayo 1 on PC and wow such a night an day difference, Bayo 1 is superior in almost every way. The graphics are even comparable to the new one. Then I played Bayo 2 emulated on PC and once again night and day difference from 3. It takes things from 1 and refines them. All in all Bayo 1 and 2 are much better than 3 in all aspects.

It felt toned down in comparison to the older games with the gore as well. Whilst fighting the Humunculai I found myself just wishing for angels. Serious lack of inspiration when it came to the unlockable costumes in 3 like seriously disappointing. I just feel 3 is not as cool and gory as the second and first games, but it’s most fun. I just think 3 should get a little more polish-like Cassiopeia ink effects on the floor gets broken, Abrakadabra electricity effect is too visible that it’s a flat texture, the water train drives flat on every surface, her gliding feels weird and she looks like a rock when drifting. @@daviecampbell8644 I just finished Bayo 3 twice. Overall I have to say that it’s super fun, but I have my reservations. Overall, I think the main villain is more interesting than Aesir, because in 3 it’s a super advanced nano machine AI that creates a single purpose for all life and absolute control as opposed to infinite variable in the world of humans/Chaos. So the AI eliminates thousands of paths and so the characters from other universes start to resonate between each other stronger- I actually like it more the more I play it. I think Bayo3 still has better gameplay and world design than DMCV which was super bland and boring. B3 has awesome weapons and it’s so creative. I do mind some technical issues, but overall each Bayo game is quite unique. This way I love to replay all 3 games equally. Even though I miss the atmosphere of 1 and brutal gory gameplay of 2, 3 is actually really fun. I kept combining different weapons with different costumes and the variety is great. I think even if I miss the weapon combos from 1&2, we have the demon masquerade and each weapon has a long range mode too-so it’s compensated in another way. And I disagree on a lot of things. Bayonetta 3 has more different environments, but they look more generic and less detailed, so I'd give the point to B2. Characters who had interesting personalities in previous games weren't presented with the same care in B3 (especially Luka) because of the rushed feeling in this game - the multiverse already starts at risk and the characters don't have enough time to interact like they did in previous games, the villain is the worst one in the series, and Viola's goofy personality didn't go down well with everybody, so I would also give the point to B2. Also, B3 is the one that runs worst, so I'd also take out one point from it.
I really like B3, but it was not as much as an improvement from B2 as I hoped.

I like the gameplay in Bayonetta 3, but I have to disagree it's the best, I would give it to Bayonetta 2, because of enemy telegraphs, some enemies just seem to not warn the player when they attack, unlike every enemy in the previous games, also demon slaves, while a cool mechanic, can sometimes add too much on the screen, which is a shame. Other than that I don't really like viola's gameplay, I just can't understand the block timing and it just feels clunky to me, so it just deducts points
Environments, if we're talking about exploration, then I'll give it to Bayonetta 3, there's no bs about returning to the beggining of the level for an optional verse like in the first game and there's just more to do than in 2
However if we are talking about level design I think I'll give it to 2, you just can't beat the somber environments of hell or the mystical beauty of Paradiso, or the surreal feeling of seeing the gates of hell (the actual gates of hell) for the first time with that inverted pyramid type thing
I have to say though the transition to the gates of hell in Bayonetta 3 is godly, unfortunate that rodin doesn't have any dialogue each time you enter it and there's no LPs to give, so unfortunately this is the least we heard him talk in the series

Bayo 1 is still the one I keep coming back to years later, regardless of its flaws or how many times I've played it.
Bayo 1's combat is both tight and challenging, and neither of the follow-up games fully managed to replicate that feel for me. Bayo 2 introduced some unnecessary mechanical tweaks that made the combat significantly more restrictive. Bayo 3's combat is great it its own right, but the spectacle, fun as it may be, creates way too much visual noise for my liking. The camera already struggles with mobs that include gigantic enemies, so having huge controllable summons and trying to keep track of Bayo herself really doesn't help.
Story-wise, I'd say the first two games are on par with each other, especially with how the sequel fleshed out certain existing characters and created a time loop. Bayo 3 had lots of exciting ideas but didn't realize any of them to their full potential, not to mention it feeling more like a detour rather than a continuation of the series. (Viola was severely underdeveloped - her "hype" moments and the ending felt forced and unearned. Her contribution to the finale was getting slapped around by Singularity AGAIN and then being handed over Bayo's mantle for no reason. Luka being a werewolf, a faerie, AND the Arch-Adam should've been left of the cutting room floor because it bordered on fanfiction-level idiocy. Bayonetta just standing around and waiting for her variants to get killed made no sense.)
When it comes to visuals, I also prefer Bayo 1 & 2. Conceptually, Bayo 3's cinematics are still crazy, but the final product lacks the oomph, and the facial animations & lip-sync somehow came out significantly worse than the original that's over a decade old. Character design-wise, I'll take the laser-sharp focus of the first two as well. Bayo 3 is a mixed bag where it seems like Platinum just mashed together every single idea they had. Sometimes it works, sometimes it looks like a jumbled mess. The conversion to 3D didn't do many of Mari Shimazaki's designs justice because a lot of her original concepts look fantastic. Bayo 3's environments essentially being these big plain arenas to accommodate for the summons is a logical sacrifice, however it gave me very unpleasant DMC2 flashbacks. I would've preferred something denser and more detailed - ideally, a happy medium between the first two games and Bayo 3.
So yeah, I adore Bayo 1. Bayo 2 might've casualized the combat, but it made up for that in other areas. Given how the first two games bleed into one another, it's really hard to separate them, and I believe they should be enjoyed as one continuous story. I guess what I find extremely disappointing about Bayo 3, is that PG had all the experience, tools, and fan feedback to create the best game in the series, but unfortunately Bayo 3's highs don't offset the awful lows imo. It needed better direction and execution.

She looks sexier with that short hair and that look is just beautiful. Loki was the most enjoyable side character of the three games. the soundtrack DEFINITELY goes to 2. Tomorrow Is Mine and Moon River are just God tier.

Bayonetta 3 was superb and the absolute best of the series imo. Then comes Bayonetta 1 and then Bayonetta 2, although sometimes I like 2 better because it had such a great setting and story, but there was so much anti-climatic parts in 2, I felt 1 was better overall.
Combat-wise, hands down, 3 is the best, followed by 2, and then 1. Each game perfected the combat and added great additions to the mix. The variety of Demons and weapons in this game is the pinnacle. I loved Demon Slave which gave more prominence to the Demons at her disposal. For some reason, I kept forgetting about Demon Masquerade because I swear it takes long to charge that meter so I just ended up not using it and forgetting about it. But Viola's Demon Masquerade is supremely OP'd compared to Bayonettas. It almost makes the boss fights with Strider a complete cakewalk!
I'm happy that 3 fixed alot of the issues I had with 2, the most important in that all of the cutscenes in 3 being actual scenes, not just still-scenes/pictures with them talking in the background, which 2 had way too much of and it really killed alot of action and impactful scenes in the game. It made me think that 2 didn't have a good budget or something. The only time 3 used the still-scenes/pictures was when Bayonetta views flashbacks of her other selves, which was good. Not to mention the level of style, excitement, design, and action choreography of the cutscenes in 3 was a much higher degree of quality than almost all of 2.
I loved the Multiverse and it was a good move introducing this as it opens many doors for the series now and it perfectly fits in with the World of Chaos being well.....chaotic, which perfectly symbolizes the Multiverse. I loved the different locations this game had from Japan, to China, to Egypt, and then Paris. Seeing alternate Bayonettas, each leading different types of lives, but still kick-ass Umbras, was simply fantastic. Even the island of Thule was cool and I wish we had gotten to explore a little of the Altar of the Sky because it had a very majestic design and I liked how it had the Lumen Sage and the Umbra Witch statues and then across is the statue of Aesir within the Altar's core. All 3 Gods of the Trinity of Realities knew of the Multiverse and studied it on Thule.
The story could've been a little more explored because it did feel like alot of important story elements were left out and not properly explained. I don't know if this was done on purpose or if it was convoluted to the point where they inevitably forgot/missed things. Maybe both??? Either way, Bayonetta's story was always a bit all over the place, but it was easier to understand 1 and 2's stories as opposed to 3. None the less, the story was engrossing imo and with the help of videos explaining things and having played through it 3 times, I understand it a lot better now!
I don't know if this is just me, but I thoroughly enjoyed that the chapters felt longer in 3 than it did in 2. Each chapter in 3 , to me, had more content and exploration then most of the chapters in 2 and I really enjoyed exploring all the different environments. I hated how 2 had too many chapters where it was just literally 1 boss battle and then it's over, especially Chapter 6 in 2. Adding that 2 only had 16 chapters total, it made 2 feel incredibly short and cheap. I'm glad they decided not to do this again much in 3 and instead spread out the bosses more throughout the chapters. Not only did 3 have more bosses, but almost every boss battle in 3 was epic, exciting, and kept you on your toes. The only boss I felt that way about in 2 was the final Balder fight in Inferno. This game's Final Boss was incredibly epic and severely made up for the lackluster anti-climatic final boss in 2. And this game's soundtrack was the best in the series, with the Singularity Definition OST being the best final boss track in the series.
Viola was a nice addition to the series, I have no issues with her and her Fairy Masquerade Rage was cool, but I still abhor her infuriating Witch Time activation! That's the only thing I don't like about her.
The frame rate issues didn't bother me because this is the Switch and we all know it's not gonna give out the same stable quality as the PS4 or PS5 so, graphics and frame rate wise, this was never a problem for me. Yes I wish the game had been made for the PS4 or PS5 to get better graphics and frame rate, but I'm just grateful for Nintendo saving this franchise and allowing it to get to this awesome game being made. But if they ever released this on PS4 or PS5, I wouldn't say no to it.
As for the ending, I personally loved it. The very beginning of the game showed the stakes being the highest it's ever been with Bayonetta from Viola's world getting killed by Singularity and that this game was going to be a major turning point in the series. That already told me that this wasn't going to end on a happy note with the extinction of alternate universes and Bayonettas dying all across the Multiverse being the backbone of it. What "Our Cereza" does, solo at first, in this final battle is grand and the ending was much more impactful because of it. As for Luka and her together, I have no issue with it because I never saw Jeanne as her lover, she was her sister/best friend. People saw there sexiness, innuendo, and lustful behavior as them hinting that they were in love with each other or maybe that Bayonetta was bisexual, I don't know and I don't care really. Imo, the sexiness, innuendo, and lustful behavior they express with each other is how they've always been, teasing and being proud of being sexy powerful women. You could interpret this either way you want, but whether she ended up with Jeanne or Luka, the other side would've raged and been angry so it's a lose-lose story element imo. Platinum just decided to go for Luka and that's fine with me. I also believe this game gives Luka more importance in the grand scheme of things otherwise there would be no point in him being in the series after the first game as then he would just be the comic relief character which is already Enzo so we don't really need another one.
Sorry I know this is super long, but waiting 8 years for this game and having gotten to play through it 3 times now, I'm just beyond happy and satisfied with this series. I can't wait to see Bayonetta 4 in the future and I'm eager to see where and how they're gonna bring Bayonetta back. Viola saves her and Luka from Inferno or the Bayonetta from the first game's universe comes back into the mix. Who knows, but theres alot of possibilities and with the introduction to the Multiverse and Fairies, the future of the series is gonna be great!!!

Story isn’t a main reason to play a Bayonetta game, but I think Bayonetta 2 has the overall highest score for me when accounting all the elements that make a good game.

I really dislike bayo 2 for the numerous changes that change it implemented in regards to shorter witchtime, the ability for enemy to dodge out of it, forced to use umbran climax etc but I loved the lower use of QuickTime.

to me, playing bayo 3 was a really cool experience the story has a lot of plotholes i know but for some reason playing the game felt refreshing, this happens with every game but for me in 3 it happens the most. My fav game is bayo 3 I love this bayonetta's design, i understand why people don't but for me it's gorgeous and i love it. I also like the demon masquerade and how it looks a LOT

I disagree as in my opinion Bayonetta 3 is hands down unnegotiably the worst, the fact that they switched up the weapons mechanic was so ridiculous to me, and how they fucked up a storyline that badly was just insane to me, it had the least fun combat, the Jean sections were pretty bad, Viola was annoying and they should have given her her own spin-off game instead of forcing us to play as her in my opinion, also Bayonetta dying at the end and being with Luca was so weird and now in Bayonetta 4 they either have to retcon something or we have to play as Viola the entire

I love them all so much but Bayo 1 just feels like the purest form of Bayo when it comes to combat and style. I like things about 2 like color and how insane some of the fights are. 3 feels like a baby’s first hack and slash imo but I still like it a lot minus Viola. But fr if Bayo 4 playslike what playing Viola plays like then I’ll just have to check out of the series lol.

I haven't played 3 yet and I just beat 2 last night. Soundtrack goes to Bayo 2. It's also just more polished with better camera angles. Bayo 1 has better unlockables with the weapons and costumes. They give you a lot of stuff up front in 2. Personally, I want to work a bit more for weapons to appreciate them more. But it's not bad for a little more accessibility. They even locked Jeanne behind getting platinum on every chapter in normal mode. Bayo 2 lets you have her for beating the story once on normal. I'd give the slightest edge to Bayo 1. It's so close

One thing I can say is that bayo 2 have stages that are VERY replayable (I know it’s not a word) to specify I mean I can go back and play bayo 2 chapters all the time yet I can’t do that with bayo 3 which I’m very disappointed with. Probably can’t do that anymore because of how long the bayo 3 chapters are compared to bayo 2 and 1 but you have to KNOW the bayo games to understand what I’m saying lol

Bayonetta 3 made me appreciate Bayonetta 1 and 2 more. I think the first one is the best one followed by the second one, last one is the third installment. Everything is garbage in Bayo 3 except the Combat, the soundtrack is depressing af except the Bayo 1 & 2 tracks that were included which immediately gave life to this game.

  • @kirillsiruk8734
    @kirillsiruk8734 Рік тому +1

I think that the best game in the series is the second game, because it is the best slasher. It's better than the first game due to the gameplay and graphics, and Bayonetta 3 has too much of everything that the third game can't even be properly called a slasher, it's more of an action game. Therefore, the second game is still the best for me, it brought something new and did not overdo it.

    Replayability: 3 > 2 > 1

Bayonetta one by far trumps all of them In the sense that it’s the most coherent. The combat mechanics are so clean, the visuals hold up quite well, the bosses were so well done and executed, the music was amazing (I cannot stand tomorrow is mine sorry), and it makes you care about all the characters, not just some

  • @omeometeotl

    for me:
    story - 1
gameplay - 3 although i miss the customizing of weapons onto hands and feet of 1 & 2
stages - 1 (loved the various gravity altered stages like in a remembrance of time and in the ithavol tower leading up to the statue of jubi - even tho i absolutely HATED falling from the sideways platforms)
    hairstyle - definitely 3
soundtrack - 1 (2 is more cohesive sounding, but 1 has iconic songs that don’t need to be cohesive and still slap individually with mysterious destiny and fly me to the moon - also love how mysterious destiny is basically just narrating the story of bayonetta lol)
runtime - 1 i found myself taking so long to complete everything especially the alfheims and umbran tears crows and don’t get me started on the witch trails or whatever they were called - i also found myself actually ENJOYING grinding for HOURS to get that 100% while in 2 it felt less satisfying and in 3 feels like an absolute CHORE
bonus category (mini bosses) - 1 loved beating up beloveds
bonus category (bosses) - 1 fighting the cardinal virtues was so epic
bonus category (hidden boss) - 2 rodin in his demon form was almost impossible to beat (haven’t fought rodin in bayo 3 yet so i may change my answer once i do)
bonus category (final boss) - 1 jubileus was an epic battle i enjoyed
bonus category (demon summons) - 3 demon slave expands on the summons in 1 & 3
bonus category (weapons) - 2 the lightning hammer and triple scythe were so satisfying to use
bonus category (costumes) - 1 now this was tough AF cause teenage witch in training Bayo and egyptian bayo oh and casual skinny jeans and pink knit sweater bayo from 3 are my new favorites along with the default costume BUT 2 had epic looks like the belly dancer look, the devil wings and tail, the japanese sun goddess look, and who could forget the dress and hat combos from the beginning and end scenes BUT in 1 we have the cute elemental cat ears and tail, the ice skating look, the bdsm look, the nun outfit, the karate look which i absolutely LOVE, but the Witch Queen look takes the cake and the fact that you can mix and match perfumes with your weapons to stack multiple costume changes just tips the scales to a fun win for 1 with all that variety
so in conclusion the best game in my opinion is bayo 1 however bayo 3 is definitely a great runner up & bayo 2 is a LOVELY second alternate. forget bronze, silver, and gold; these games are pure platinum, platinum, and gold! they’re all so good!!!
