  • Shino Hashimoto is a 21-year-old rider from Tokyo, fighting to prove herself in Japan’s male-dominated motorbike competitions through one of her proudest skills: cutting calls. By using the throttle and clutch of the bikes, she and other riders create modified revving sounds, which are loosely translated to "calls.”
    We follow Shino as she prepares for Q-1, a classic competition among racing circuits, to learn more about what's behind the country's unique motorbike culture.

    She gives a moment to think about her end goal. I don’t think she ever had a goal, I think she just enjoyed riding.

    • @samanthawarren7554
      @samanthawarren7554 5 років тому +35

      Maybe it also has something to do with her culture? I could be way off, but her body language suggested she was embarrassed or nervous to say her dream out loud. It clearly meant a lot to her to be supported. It’s hard to voice your dreams out loud, especially if that dream isn’t a socially acceptable one.

      Samantha Warren I forgot she was in a competition. I thought that she didn’t have a goal with what she was doing but was just doing it, till she is asked what her goal is she actually thinks about it. She has small goals surely but that moment seemed like he asked a for a life defining goal. But I could be wrong she did tell us she wanted to be #1.

I don't understand the Japanese biker culture and it seems more than a little weird to me, but this woman's passion, creativity, and fierce dedication don't require translation. I'm sharing this video with my daughter to help inspire her in her endeavors.

    I do not remember his name, but there was a composer, during the age of classical music at peak popularity, and he wrote no notes, and the entire orchestra was the sound of the audience and the natural ambient acoustics of the room. People were furious. But he made a valid point. Others with audio-motion synesthesia may understand what I mean. Everything is music.

On May 15, 1870, as a policy of the Meiji government, it was adopted as the war flag of the Imperial Japanese Army, and on October 7, 1889, it was adopted as the naval ensign of the Imperial Japanese Navy.

    • @evilmoif
      @evilmoif 5 років тому +15

      There are none... so what? The internet is not American, I'm not American, the video is not about Americans and what does this have to do with Broadly making a documentary about one girl in a Japanese subculture, whilst ignoring the contributions of hundreds of thousands of men in that same subculture? Perhaps there might have been a good argument for this video had the girl had to fight against patriarchal attitudes in order to be accepted, but at no point in the video does any one (except herself) single out her gender as an issue. On the contrary, she is given plenty of support and recognition and even wins a prize for her achievements. There is no good argument for this video to have been made, except for the fact that she is a girl. Now I don't mind the video being made, I quite enjoyed it. I don't mind her taking part in this subculture either - more power to her. What annoys me is the constant harping from feminists that western civilisation is a patriarchy, even to the point where videos like this are made without any sense of irony or awareness of the double standard being employed.
