The facade he puts up is praiseworthy. Just the right amount of emphaty, right amount of showing self awareness of the things he does to cloak the more shady side of his work, the right amount of charm. He has perfected the craft of setting himself up to show himself off. A one man show. This is novel worthy material lol.

I can't feel anything but sadness for this guy. He was abandonned by his parents at 16, became homeless and was lured into this creepy business so he could afford unnecessary luxury things by beeing pressured into taking advantage of lonely girls. These clubs owners are exploiting the misery of both the hosts and the customers out of pure inhumanity and greediness. What a sad world we live in, almost brings me to tears. A great deal of the host model of earning is based on prostitution.
The hosts demand money from women, the women go out and earn money by selling their bodies directly or by being hostesses demanding money themselves.
These top hosts are effectively pimps. They know that's what they are and don't care. Their wasteful purchases bought from the suffering of others.

On the other hand, I admire his will to fight and his tenacity to never give up on life. If you looked pass the booze and the party, you'd see a struggling young man trying to find his place in this world. I wish him luck.
EDIT: Some people have accused me of being a 'feminist' and that I'm jealous of this young man. I just want to say that I have not a single iota of jealousy. I had some rough times growing up myself but I never had to endure homelessness and fend for myself at the age of 16. This person really had it rough and I'm just stating my observations. Non Japanese people first you need to understand Japan better besides what you might think or have seen. There is a huge dark side in Japan. This is one of them. This kid is not rich at all. It's like a rapper in the USA. They get advances by the label. Well, in this case the record label is the Yakuza. Yes, they are very active but it's not all what you think it is. Kabuki-cho is known for this type of industry. It is most likely that because Kunugi is a popular host that he can receive certain advances. What I also think is that his boss borrowed him that Lambo so that the company can be portrayed as bling bling in this video. The fact that Kunugi was disowned by his own parents makes him an easy target for the Yakuza and other crime orgs in Japan.

It is like this: (Total summary at the end)
      1. Gigolo - has only 1 lover or a "sugar mommy" who he is financially dependent on, sometimes they even live together.
Host - Their job is to chat with women customers and they are not exclusive partners of their customers.
      2. Gigolo - Since he a lover they would most probably sleep together and they are in a relationship
Host - as mentioned by Kunugi-kun, a host can sleep with their customers if they are attracted to that customer, no strings attached.
      3. Gigolo - depending on their lovers is one of their source of income
Host - they are professional escorts who will chat with you and basically will their income from the drinks that the customers order while they are chatting with you
      Basically the gist of it:
Gigolo - it is not their job to escort or accompany a girl, they are in a relationship with their lover, one of their source of income is their lover
Host - it is their job to escort or accompany their customer, they are not in a relationship with their customers, one of their source of income is the sales of the drinks that their customers bought while they are chatting with them

They're depressed and lonely and fed up with the type of men they deal with as customers so they go to the hosts for their princely behavior. It's even sadder because the money they earn being a hostess is blown on trying to win the temporary attention of a host.

I'm married to an ex-host and worked as one myself some year ago so I'm kind of familiar with this kind of world. We both struggled so much, it's not easy at it seems to be at all. Luring customers is quite easy, keeping them is not. Most hosts quit their job early because the pay is ridiculously low. And you feel lonely every day. Surrounded by so many people who like you just for your look. Personally, I'm happy me and my husband did find another job at last and be happy together. Just don't judge other people's choices badly because you don't agree with something, we are all humans and have a heart with emotions even if you have to discard it sometimes in this world if you want to succeed in life.

Fulvia Maccarrone it would be really interesting if you would make a video about it. Since I only read about the bad outcomes of this industry in this comment section. Can you leave on free will or is it more complicated than that? Did your moral stand points change? A lady in this comment section wrote about knowing a man that got severely suicidal after retiring because of working in that industry for 20 years and owning 2 host clubs. Also she wrote about a customer trying to kill themselve because she felt deceived by the host. Are stories like these common?

Yes, unfortunately this stories are VERY common. And especially if you are ranked low at first you have to drink so much alcohol that basically ruins your organs for life. My organs were spared somehow because even if I needed money I thought at my health first and didn't drink too much. But my husband has to take medicine because of it and is in costant pain. The fact that you can or can not leave on free will varies from host club to another. There are usually very strict rules you have to follow and you can not just leave from day to night. But in some cases you can. For the part about girls or guys acting crazy...I received a lot of dead threats when some girls discovered me and my boyfriend at that time were really dating and in love. Some japanese girls can get really scary. And like one year ago there was a guy injured by a customer's blade. Anyway it's not prostitution like some people wrote it is quite incorrect I would say, maybe they don't understand the culture fully but it is definitely different ...hosts and hostesses provide just male or female company to people who feel lonely in order to make them feel a little happier. Not sleep with them. This is totally unrelated.

Legal age and consent ages vary around the world. Here is what I found: Japan statutory rape law is violated when an individual has consensual sexual contact with a person under age 13. ... The age of marriage is 16 for girls and 18 for boys. In 2018 Japan changed its legal adult age to 18 due to their crisis with low birth rates. Western standards really don't apply anywhere else, so no need to feel uncomfortable about it. I lived in the Philippines for several years back in the 90's, and their age of consent was 13 years old, and it was not unusual to see 14-15 year old girls working in bars as hostesses. Being considered a minor in the US is all encompassing.....not so in many places around the world, where they have different legal ages for different activities. The age for marriage, the age for sexual activity, the age for being able to sign a contract can all be different.

Are you one of those idiot liberals snowflakes who think facts that hurt your feelings are racist and bigoted? Do you think science is a tool of the patriarchy and is racist? This is what you sound like. You can not judge history or other cultures with you holier than thou Western gynocentric lens...it makes you look foolish. To be honest, laws in the Western world make no sense and conflict with themselves. So what is legal age??? Is it 16 to drive a car....is it 18 to vote and get drafted (if your a man), is it 21 when you can legally drink....or is it 26 where you can stay on your parents insurance? It is schizophrenic and makes no sense. How can you be able to die for your country but not able to buy a beer?
For thousands of years in most cultures on the planet, you were considered an adult around the age of 13. As cultures and societies move forward, they are also moving the age of adulthood forward....that is why we have people in the late 20's and 30's living with their parents, when only a few generations ago, people were marrying and living out on their own before their 20th birthday.

Working in a bar was a great experience in a long term perspective in the end. I joined an Army once I had to joined, and I quit working in a bar. After dishcarge, I realized that people I met during the bar inspired me and sometimes taught me people living in the different world. That helps me a lot. It helped me a lot to understand culture from another countries. I used to work in Dubai for couple of months. And, I am plan to join the Marines Corps and suppose to station in Tokyo or Okinawa on following year. In a long term goal, I was not a professional. But, I realized it helped me a lot on so many aspect. I am considering taking a Foreign Service Officer test within 3 years preparing for it. I am also restart my bachelor degree. The reason for this issue is that Dutch people lead very non-social lives. Dutch people’s family and social lives aren’t so tight-knitted as those of other cultures.

It’s a combination of salesman and prostitute. I lived in japan. There are also a ton of hostess (female hosts) clubs. I know people who work there. They get a certain percentage of the drinks they make the customer buy. On top of that you can go to a private room with some hostess for a certain price and get various sexual services. Of course as a male host, sexual services will be requested less ( as everybody knows men like sex more than women) but it’s the same job just the male version. The only weird thing here is... that besides japan I know no other country that has demand for male hosts.
