- In today's Victoria 3 challenge, we tried our hand at Victoria 3 multiplayer also known as Vic 3 MP. We play as the worst starts, the worst starting nations and the hardest starting nations. These guys have no populations, no GDP and no hope of survival. But, perhaps with Koifish and Simo along with Laith, there's a change they use the vic 3 war system to drag themselves to success!

You three accusing the French of plagiarism while Laith hums the Marsaillaise and both of the others wrongly identifying it as Chaikovskys 1812 overture (which is about Napoleons invasion of Russia and has those French sounding parts as homage to that) is truly something special

Idea for a campaign: You and two friends play the knights, epirus, and cyprus in EU4, and you have to complete the "crusade against piracy" "latin empire" and "form jerusalem" parts of the crusader mission tree respectively
They'd bicker authentically like the crusader groups irl, it'd be great

So, about Chaikovski and the Marseilliese - As 1812 symphony (the one with cannons) is about the battle of Borodino and Russian victory over the French, it actually uses Marseilliese as a motif (um, sample) to depict initial french successes, before, well, running into russian guns. So no wonder Laith's humming got mixed up for that bit...

Tchaikovsky intentionally includes La Marseilles in Overture 1812. It’s supposed to represent Napoleon’s invasion of Russia, so the piece switches between a Russian folk song and the French anthem to represent the battles.

I love classicals,For those who dont know, Tchaikovsky did compose 1812overture with both russian and french anthem within, as he was appointed by the tsar to congrate the victory of russia in the napoleonic war. However Tchaikovsky didn't like that and he hate the piece he composed which is 1812 overture. He said he conposed it without any heart or soul. But this piece made it one of the most iconic one for Tchaikovsky ironically. He made it like french won the war though

I can see why he's confused by the Marseillese. It's quoted in the 1812 Overture (it's about the battle of Borodino, French pyhrric victory).

The 1812 overture does actually plagiarise the French Anthem, basically, the 1812 Overture tells the story of Napoleon's Advance into Russia and as the French are advancing the French Anthem is played Triumphantly until Napoleon is defeated and Russia is saved.

The theme laithe was humming was "la marseillaise" a French song. but in overture 1812 -the russian song with the canon in V for Vendetta- the compositor use part of the Marseillaise for the audience to think of Napoleon's army marching into russian land. Sorry you haven't discovered plagiarism but part of the meaning of a russian classic music

The hardest Nation is Central America. It may not be at war with anyone. But just ensuring the Country stays together is the most challenging thing to accomplish in the game.
