Very well done...I think the average sim hobbyist would find this very informative and easy to understand. Performance is likely the least understood and you explained it very well...
Very well done, I think. Thank you for spending a bit of time explaining not just the "how", but the why of the steps you follow. It is, for the "technical" simmer, a great help. Thank you for taking the time to do it right! Technical accuracy is, for me, very important. I find that I have a few consistent problems--especially with programming the FMC! This helped me.
I like a lot your video. It is quite complicated to go all the features to get a 747 in the air.I fly always small plane like Cessna C172, 185, ... I learn a lot watching your video. Thank you and continue the good work. Guy
This is indeed a superb and wonderful video tutorial that so many of us wanted to see. Your training and delivery is amazing and I've learnt so much from watching and studying your video and training materials on both the 737 and 747. I'm very new to. B747, and this video just linked both bridges between the 737 and 747 training that I was after. You perfectly described to us in great detail the important functions and procedures needed for us to enjoy this superb and beautiful majestic 747 aircraft. Thank you so much and please continue to produce such fine and superb quality training videos, I personally appreciate it very much, as I'm sure everyone else does. thank you so much
One tip at 28:52 don't turn on the switches to run until the n2 rotaion is at 20% or you will do a hot start and damage the engines, overall very nice tutorial
Great video. Was going to leave the 747v3 because of the cost, but.........you should be being paid by PMDG. Remember, not too speedy, for the older learners! Many thanks!
Thank you! That's a nice compliment ;) I'll do my best, you can always use the pause button and repeat a segment if you'd like. I also have chapters in the description to make it easier to review a portion of the video again ;)
Ali Kazemi 747 is één van de mooiste kisten die nog vliegt. De nieuwe generatie kisten zoals de dreamliner zijn ook mooi natuurlijk. Hopen dat daar ook ooit de pmdg versie van uit komt
Thank you for this I found this video the most useful on the internet, going from airbus a320 to 747 i have A LOT more to learn. I am now at the stage of where the video finished so could i request a tutorial on pre flight, after take off, descent and landing for 747 just so i know I am doing everything right. I will continue to read the manual for now. Thanks again. EDIT: Just seen your EHAM - EDDL video and again great help. will try my own flight now. Cheers

Yes I know, I did that for video length because I wanted to show the actual startup procedure instead of all the other stuff that would still come next to it.

Goed moment om zo'n video te maken ;) Misschien is het wel een goed idee om een video te maken over fuel management in de 74, aangezien dat toch wel anders is dan op de meeste andere vliegtuigen! :D
I love it! 😃I don’t play P3D but FSX but I guess the procedures are the same. I‘d love to see a Tutorial of the Aerosoft CRJ 700/900 and/or the SkySim MD-11 (as I think, the PMDG MD-11 isn‘t available anymore ☹️😢) .
flight directors?, trim?, (auto brake to RTO was done at the last part :)), MCP settings not complete, taxi lights?, flaps?, etc etc etc... None of these were done. But nice video. I'm a big fan. Waiting for full flight video.
As I said at the end of the video, you can configure your MCP, radios etc. the way you want for your flight, there's no real point in showing that, this was pure the engine start and FMC procedure you saw here, which is the most complicated part ;)
Possible you can show us how to do a direct flight, such as make the true heading point to the airport of choise so it will follow it, right to the airport?
Good point, you can indeed also do that, but I like to do it this way so that the weight distribution is according to what is calculated in the flight plan. If you just enter the ZFW, the distribution will be different. Not that it matters a great deal, but I like to do it this way :)
Well yep depends! But in the 737 for example I'd definitely go for the ZFW variant. You only got one class (usually) and the plane gets the distribution right so no need to enter PAX number manually :-)
Not really, the weight distribution alters your center of gravity. Especially in the combi version here, the PMDG FMC might put in a lot more cargo than passengers when just entering a ZFW in the FMC, altering the center of gravity thus affecting the takeoff and trim settings etc.
peter kelberg just use what AviationPro has described so detailed, it works and is very straight forward. With his technique I've tried cargo too, and works beautifully, very close simbrief's calculations. There is a mathematical logic behind AviationPro's training on payload, and it works.
They do make their systems similar, but if you want to see that on a whole new level, look at airbus. From the A380 to the A320 they have almost the exact same cockpit.
Nice video, subbed. Just bought the 747 and i have no idea how it works. So it looks like your tuorial is the way to go, will watch it tonight while trying to get the Queen in the air!
PMDG is the best payware Boeing addon library, even Boeing licensed it, funny question: how to turn on the wipers, cause i really like details that doesnt appear in other high quality addons
You don't have to wait till the FMC starts up to connect external power. Just hold down the MENU button and the display will turn on just with the PMDG SETUP and FS ACTIONS options, so you can connect ext power immediatelly.
Thanks! I believe it was in MENU -> Options -> Simulation -> IRS Options and then on page 1 in the bottom-right corner you see IRS options, I believe you can set it there. :)
Nice video bro! You should consider a career in aviation, you've got the passion and skills ;) Is that something you are looking at? Happy flying mate and Hi from Down Under (Australia) !
Johannes Very well done, thank you enjoyed the tutorial. Question, would you where to look for a check list for the new 747-400 V3? Thanks in advance. Regards
Thanks, glad you liked it! :) In the PMDG manual there should be something like a normal operations checklist. I never found a really good checklist myself though.
Great video! I made sure my overhead panel looks just like yours but when I turn on the fuel control switches, increases but at an extremely slow rate. Is this normal? When I start my engines on the -8, the N1 rises at a much faster rate.
Thank you, and thanks for joining the channel! This is the Prepar3D simulator with the PMDG Boeing 747 addon. PMDG is now working to bring their 747 to the Microsoft Flight Simulator, none of which work on Mac I’m afraid… X-plane does and I think there are similar renditions of the 747 out there for that sim

@@AviationPro hello. Thanks that I know. Let me explico better. If you shut down the plane how do you start it up without doing all this? Let's say it is not possible. Then how do you make the plane to start again by the selected panel state? Thanks a lot

AviationPro thanks for answering my question can you tell me if it is possible to play PMDG on a laptop without extra controllers and what is the minimum requirements will be?
You can check the minimum requirements on the PMDG websites, but generally laptops are not very good at running advanced simulators with high quality aircraft like PMDG.
Hello thank you for your tutorials, have seen your iFly fs2004 startup tutorial , look pretty similiar, i want to if there is a big difference beetween both of them, because i m looking to buy one of them pmdg for fsx, my machine is i7 16ram nvidia 2 gigas. thanks....
Thanks! Well, the PMDG 747 is way more realistic, but their basics are the same. You might need a better video card, but you will find that the PMDG is more enjoyable.
Thank you for this! The 747 is my fave airplane, and the whole reason I am invested in P3D. however, WTH ist he way to change the text color from white (which is what it is on my default 747 v3) to green, like you have here? I have been through every menu and cannot find a way to do it!
I believe that it will keep aligning without actually going into the navigation mode. Putting it to NAV is more simple because than it will just align and at some point automatically go into the navigation mode.
Thanks :) Why didn't you get the academic since the only difference would be the watermark? So many people are getting professional and the reason is because of the watermark?
Rishi Shah Basically yes. In my own view they are just wasting their money, unless they produce videos or films using P3D. And u can also cancel the watermark in Academic License. But at the same time u will also cancel ALL notifications.
Thanks for a video. It helped me to understand weight part. :-) I would like to see the video about step climb. I have two questions: 1. about V2 speed in FMC and MCP. I saw in some videos that people set it on MCP as V2+20. Is it standard procedure or someone is making mistakes? 2. I do not understand how TRANSISION ALTITUDE works and to be honest did not care much about this before. Is it just for departure? When I descend, when should I switch STD back to normal value? I know that it changes itself with yellow letters (in 737) when I pass FL180 but it's a template from plane's config so I'm not sure when is the correct time for changing it.
Hi, glad it helped! I usually just set the V2 in the MCP, it probably depends on the airline how you do that. For the 747 is doesn't really matter anyway because usually LNAV and VNAV are already armed prior to departure, so at some point you will just follow the VNAV profile. The transition altitude is where you switch from the local QNH to the standard QNH (1013 hPa/29.92 inHg). In Europe all airports have different transition altitudes, but in the US they always use 18000 feet. So if you are flying in Europe, you have to set it manually in one of the VNAV pages.
So this may be a stupid question but how do you get the double terminals at the gate? Is it part of the xtreme environment pack or something else? I just want to know because I'd want to have proper terminals to connect to a 747, instead of just one at the front.
They are part of the FlyTampa Amsterdam scenery. Unfortunately they do not both attach to the aircraft though (just one), but that might be added later ;)
Thank you very much for this tutorial! I just subbed to you! Just one thing, I just completed my first flight of this 747, and I had received a fuel imbalance warning, I think it's because I kept the APU on for too long. How would I resolve this? Is it by opening the cross feed valves? Thanks!
Nice video. Mate I just wanted to ask where do you get the visual guidance docking system from. I do have Rex HD worldwide airports and FS dream team ground services. But seem to struggle with the one you have outside your cockpit window. Any help will be great. Yours is nicely animated. Regards Simrin
You can do a lot, but definitely not sleep. You can make and eat good food, learn more about the aircraft you are flying by reading tutorials, watch UA-cam videos, clean your room, as long as you keep an eye on the cockpit and ATC activity.
Thank you! It enables the takeoff go-around mode, it will activate the flight directors to show you the appropriate attitude for takeoff, and it will set the thrust to the proper thrust setting. Without it your throttle will not be limited to the N1 value that's set for takeoff.
The 747, because it's more recent and there are many more fine details included. Also things like the cockpit shaking and all the different sound effects in the 747 make it more realistic :)
Why put hydraulics pump 4 to aux if it won't even pressurize the system? Also, you don't have to separately arm emergency lights. Closing the switch guard will do it. And APU bleed button stays on at all times.

Nice!!!! Thanks for the tutorial and great video :D. Also thanks for the super fast reply :D
When setting the IRS, why not simply set the cockpit selectors to "Align" mode? What happens when you do that instead?
I believe that it will keep aligning without actually going into the navigation mode. Putting it to NAV is more simple because than it will just align and at some point automatically go into the navigation mode.
Goeie video!
Kan je misschien iets meer vertellen over simbrief
Dankje! Deze video is misschien wel goed om te kijken: ua-cam.com/video/gkvDq5enxys/v-deo.html
AviationPro top thanks!
Nice vid! Getting this and P3D in a couple of days. Which license of P3D are you using? I'll be getting the academic
I'm using Pro, but academic is fine, but you will have a small watermark in the top-right corner.
Good to know, thanks :)
Thanks for a video. It helped me to understand weight part. :-)
I would like to see the video about step climb.
I have two questions:
1. about V2 speed in FMC and MCP.
One more question:
How should I set cabin pressure correctly before flight?
Thanks!
Thank you, you're welcome! Yes, you should play around with the crossfeed valves and pumps to maintain fuel balance. It's all in the manual ;)
Ok, thanks, I will take a look at the manual. I'm just glad I finally have the PMDG 747, the 747 is my all time favorite aircraft.
Nice video. Mate I just wanted to ask where do you get the visual guidance docking system from. I do have Rex HD worldwide airports and FS dream team ground services. But seem to struggle with the one you have outside your cockpit window. Any help will be great. Yours is nicely animated. Regards Simrin
Thanks! This is the FlyTampa Amsterdam scenery and it comes with its own docking system ;)
Okay thank you.
Can I fly be added to fsx.
How do you pass the time once you get to cruise? Do you sleep or read a book?
You can do a lot, but definitely not sleep. You can make and eat good food, learn more about the aircraft you are flying by reading tutorials, watch UA-cam videos, clean your room, as long as you keep an eye on the cockpit and ATC activity.
AviationPro The sounds are just amazing.. good work! Love your videos
As for the TO/GA button, I can take off without pressing the button What is its meaning and vitality?
Thank you! It enables the takeoff go-around mode, it will activate the flight directors to show you the appropriate attitude for takeoff, and it will set the thrust to the proper thrust setting. Without it your throttle will not be limited to the N1 value that's set for takeoff.
Dear, how you compare PMDG 737 with 747. Obviuosly both different aircraft but from quality and realism aspect, whats your recomendation?
The 747, because it's more recent and there are many more fine details included. Also things like the cockpit shaking and all the different sound effects in the 747 make it more realistic :)
Why put hydraulics pump 4 to aux if it won't even pressurize the system? Also, you don't have to separately arm emergency lights. Closing the switch guard will do it. And APU bleed button stays on at all times.
When are you going to do a full flight?
Soon, hopefully a video should be up by next week ;)
AviationPro Yay :D
