GREG,..... I am impressed dude. You always kid about not good with big words. Watching this again this morning, as I do a lot and you were kickin out a plethora of information with big word names. You go boy.
I was up your way this morning fishing and it was a bit chilly. I planted okra yesterday in my seed trays but did not think to place them on the heat mat until I watched your show tonight. Good information throughout the entire show.
Great upload...👍My husband and I both make our living in pest control. There is a huge misconception that ALL pesticides are dangerous ☠. Oh, it can be if NOT handled correctly but keeping others informed is 💯 in safety. We started our okra under a grow light and yes, It's slow going outside right now (we are in lower Alabama). We are already seeing powdery mildew aka..."the bane of my existence" 😁 on our squash plants. I'm hoping I treated the plants in time.
👍 Received my package this morning with the Mother's Day bundle and a few other items. Looking forward to growing the Roselle this year for the first time. Thank you for the fast shipping and your tape on the box held up great. 😸🌱💙
I planted my okra by seed a few weeks ago. They are up, no true leaves yet but don’t seem to be going anywhere. I’m sure it’s because of the cool evenings. I’ve never fed them this early before but I gave them a lite shot of 20-20-20 and they are starting to wake up. I’m in 8b.

Talking about old timey pesticides do you all remember Lindane? That brown liquid that turned the water milky looking. WOW! That was the best flea dip ever! Taken off the market in the early 90s I think. Sevin dust saved my garden this year from the worst case of cut worm I’ve ever seen! I dusted the base of each plant after dark to minimize bee damage to my 4 hives. I hated to use it but sometimes you have to do what works after trying other products that did not.
Dang if that Old Goat ain't hard to find this week! That might be him next to that jar on the top shelf behind Greg. If it is, he's on his knees hiding! But that also looks like something crammed into the butter churn on the top shelf behind Ms. Sheila! Great show on pest controls! It's that time of year! I'm guessing fungicides are coming soon! Sure hate to miss y'all in Jemison but I've got around 100 maters in the back of the truck hitting the ground tomorrow. Enjoy your stay in Alabama! (even though you crack on us all the time!) Doubt you will make it to Selma since Jason and Brooke moved, but if you do enjoy that beautiful architecture! Some of the prettiest old homes you'll find anywhere! Also my birthplace!
Got my first hoss order today. Packaged so well thank yall. I got the 5 pack 12 cell trays to use for my year round lettuce in my plant closet. I watched onion videos and will try again with this candy seed and your advice. Thanks Hoss family.
How bout that, I was JUST thinking I need to order some pest control stuff and I just finished spraying. I'm on a neem oil and Spinosad and BT routine. Saw a cabbage moth while I was spraying. Figured I'd try to get a head start on them.
Great show as always, will be placing a order with y'all tomorrow. Everybody use to have those big brown glass bottles of chlorodain sitting in their shops back in the day, it killed termites and every bug that came in contact with it. Just had a chance tonight to watch last weeks show and seen i won last weeks contest, i was so surprised!I sent my info in, thank you so much for everything y'all do, Hoss Tools is a fantastic company!
A friend of mine told me that, for soft body pests such as mites, etc., he uses a diluted solution of Hydrogen Peroxide and water in a spray bottle. He said it works well.
Hey Hoss, a little off topic but you mentioned salt as being toxic in large amounts. Is there a “Rule of Thumb” for how often I can use 20-20-20 before it becomes a detriment rather then a help? Let me thank you in advance for imparting your knowledge. You and MaMa Hoss have me growing things I had never tried before. Y’all are a BLESSING!
Hi Greg, I bought the double wheel deal a nd did not get the sweeps with it... It came with 4 duck feet (which I do appreciate) but no sweeps as advertised. I also bought the success kit so I could sharpen the sweeps but like I said the sweeps never arrived. I love the wheel hoe and it’s not the end of the world... just bringing it to your attention.
We buy all our chemicals from you guys ,that is if you have them. Did not know about the seed born pathogens in open pollinated-but it makes sense. Please plan a show about the different mildews and leaf spots, identifying the different kinds and their specific treatments. We are in SC and like you sometimes its a steam bath. Also Can a drench be used through drip irrigation?
Last year our garden was inundated with Leaf Legged Bugs, I do not think that they harmed the plants but they were very annoying when we were working in the garden. What would you suggest for reducing these bugs or eliminating them?
Begin treating for insects as soon as you notice signs of an infestation, the sooner you start the easier it will be to get rid of the critters. Begin with some Neem oil or horticulture oil. Bug buster 0 works great also. Below is a link to our pest control products hosstools.com/product-category/pest-control/
@@gardeningwithhoss gosh I need to track down the variety but they were short day yellow and white Onions. I've made the long day onion mistake in the past haha. I used bug buster ll on my citrus tree as recommended. Since it worked, I tried on my lettuce, kale, and spinach. Now, after rain and a few days, they are bitter! Should I have not used BB ll on the leaf crops?
I would appreciate your advice for a reputable shade cloth source. I looked in your store and video YT video library but don't find anything on that subject.
