*LG G Flex Review* LG is at the forefront with their own take on the new trend of curved displays and phones. What does this mean for their newest smartphone? A new form factor, durability, maybe even style? ***** goes through the LG G Flex to find out.
At first when they announced it, i mocked and laughed at it.. but after this review, man i would like to own one.. Great look.. love the sleek design, small bezel... It is gorgeous... :) And as always, splendid review Josh! :)
A classmate has won this phone and as I took the phone in my hand I was amazed ! What I love about the phone is, you don't really fel like the screen is 6 inches tall because of that curved body. It makes the phone actually kinda look smaller than it really is. But the most amazing thing is that curve-effect on the screen. It brings a whole new dimension to the display like it's 3d.
It's 2017 and I still love my LG G Flex, I bought an iPhone 6s Plus and gave it to my son and went back to my G Flex. I also own the G Flex 2 and still prefer my original G Flex.
@@pgdmed Almost 2019 and I still love it, unfortunately mine doesn't have 4G so I had to start using another phone recently, and I miss my Flex, I still use it without sim card when I'm at home.
I got my G Flex about 2 weeks ago and I have to say I am totally impressed and in love with that phone... It is so far the best smartphone/phablet experience I ever had. The 720p resolution display looks just superbe and the curve makes watching video or browsing with more immersion... I recommend the G Flex to all of you guys who are looking for a top notch phablet... By the way where I am living with my provider special deal I got my G Flex for less than US $300 on 2 years contract ($12/month only)... What a DEAL :)
you made a pun "without bending backwards" lol its a nicest phone review in a while :) its good to see the reviewer using the hp, playing with it while voicing his reviews.
I have G2 smartphone, seriously its hard not to love G2, Noah's life when it comes to battery backup. Great display, tons of features, great and zippy UI, and camera is just awesome. Since LG has won my heart, I am now gonna get that Flex Curvy thing.
Had my G Flex since August. Use to hate the phone would always restart itself for no reason, but i guess T-Mobile and lg patched that issue up finally. I guess because lg getting ready for g flex 2 and android 5.0 lollipop. Who knows. But now the phone is just great. It really is just a larger G2 with a bendable screen and curves. But i said this would be my last upgrade only because i doubt if there are going to be anymore high spec phones with 6inch screens and flexibe and self healing features other than the G Flex 2. But the screen size will shrink. If people worry about phones being too big. Just make sure you place all your favorite apps in folders towards the bottom of the screen and use dual Windows and that slide aside feature. All those will help you use larger screen sizes to your best. Great review still.
The screen is fine. You don't even notice it's 720p unless you're watching a UA-cam. Not gonna lie and say I wouldn't want it to be 1080, but the resolution and the ghosting that fades in like 2 seconds isn't a deal breaker IMO. This phone is a great performer all around, and after having it since the 7th, it hasn't yet lagged or hung up once. Find me another phone that's that good running android.
McKay Yes it does even on Android 4.4.2 I have this phone but I'm not using it on contract anymore because my 2 years with it passed but before it did I played it on this phone with no problems
No other way "around" it? Pun! Arg!! I wish it was full HD!! What's up with this 720 stuff? That totally nixes it for me. I didn't get the Note 2 because of 720. When the note 3 came out I got it straight away. Full HD 1920x1080 on the Note 3!! Sooo darn slick!!! So come on don't tease me with a big 6 inch screen and then not have it full HD!! The only reason I got the Note 3 is because there wasn't anything bigger. When I had the choice of S4 vs Note 2 though I went with the S4 for the main reason of full HD. Now Note 3 vs G Flex and the lack of HD makes me keep waiting until the next one... It is ALL about the real estate!!! Get rid of the tops & bottoms, the more screen the better. The more resolution the better. It is ALL about real estate.
If you are going to spend a pile of money on gadgets why not get the best? Since 1080p is available on phones like the Note 3 you might as well get it instead of one with only 720p. You really can see a nice difference when they are side by side. I've also got the best tablet on the planet which is the Nexus 10. 2560 x 1600. It is insanely awesome. Blow everything else away. Again it is all about the screen and resolution. Now I would agree if a phone had 1080p vs another with 2560 the pixels would be so small at that point that you couldn't even see them. From 720 up to 1080 though really makes a notable difference. My Note 3 is absolutely incredible as in my Nexus 10. I just now ordered a 4k ASUS monitor for my computer. Can't wait to try that one. I now have the 2560x1440 Asus. It blows away an HD screen. 4k should be insanely awesome once again. If it went much past that though then I'm sure there would come a point where it made little difference. I can still see pixels at 2560x1440 so I expect 4k will be much better. It's all about the real estate:).
Actually you can pretty much be sure if the thing has a high resolution screen it also has the power to run it. Otherwise it just wouldn't work. Really the processor shouldn't even be in the phone. All our screens should just be portals to our personal computers. Even a 10 year old Totally Awesome Computer is faster then the fastest cell phone. I would like to see a smaller portable full power PC that you keep within 500 yards of yourself and your screen you carry is just run through that and a wireless connection. Makes no sense trying to stuff a complete computer into a tiny space. You just end up with a slow computer. Imagine if your home PC was what actually ran your phone and your phone was only a screen that accessed it. It could do anything and at full speed. They just need to put the wireless connection fast enough that you could even play something like BF4 on your portable screen. Really all monitors should just be wireless and battery powered. That way when you go somewhere you could just take your screen with you. If it were only a screen and battery they could have half the weight and super thin. They would also cost very little. Since we are almost always within 500 yards of our car we could keep our super powerful PC in the trunk and or pop it into a backpack when we really need it portable. With ITX motherboards you can build a full power computer smaller than a normal sized netbook. THAT is what should be powering the screen on your tablet. Then it could ALL be screen and battery with just a fast wireless connection. Anyone else agree?
Wireless monitors already exist. What are you talking about? I'm just talking about making them thinner and lighter. There is even a wireless video card that operates directly to a device connected to your monitor.
I honestly think that all the bad press about screen being 720p is really not that important. If you want a 1080p screen get the G2. I honestly like the phone, mind you I dont own one yet but i held it and looked at the screen. I dont play games on my phone and if i want to watch something in HD i will pull out my Nexus 7. As for the camera I am disapointed that it didnt come with OIS but its not that big a deal. Battery life, Decent Camera, good user experience is what im looking for. I have an S3 so the LG UI will not bother me that much. Good review on the phone..Oh one more thing. Is it possible that maybe some of the pictures that are being viewed on that screen sort of messes up the image?
With the screen on the inside of the curve the chances of scratching the screen from dropping it is reduced dramatically. Sure that means that the back might get more of the scratches, but I would rather scratch the back than the screen.
245ppi, 720p, my tablet has a much, much better screen. They could do a better job here. And for me, the screen is one of the most important things. (We do stare at it every single day, right?)
My iPods screen broke. I put it back together wrong and the screen bent a little. No cracks. But it does make it appear better. Plus I get my curved that I want. So I'm fine with it.
I am using this phone now as i type this out, and just to tell you guys its a pretty good phone. I mainly got it for Music, and Videos. Now its not the best Camera phone in the world, but the quality is still pretty good. But like i said, i only got it for the Music, and Videos. So mostly entertainment. I give this a 9.5/10
I think it's great but what I really want to know is if Kit Kat will be available on this phone after its release. I think Jelly Bean 4.2.2 is what comes straight out of the box.

To really notice a difference between 1080p and 720p you need a monitor larger than 40 inches
except with a TV you're sitting metres away from it, whereas with a phone, it is right in front of you

I think you won't notice the 720p because the oled display helps because it is over saturated
So because the phone can "flex" does the battery flex as well or have have a curve in it? Or is the flex so little that it doesn't interfere?
