I'm not Asta Darling but I have been following her for a while, she mentioned that this is her job as well (as far as I could understand, she gets paid to create costumes and then film videos wearing them - for example she had a collab with Starz TV to create an Outlander outfit as a promotional video for season 6). But I'd definetely say it's for all the reasons you mentioned in your comment. ✨
Finally! Somebody who puts together a period accurate gown! I see so many times where this is shodily done and it is an embarrassment! This is absolutely perfect and stunning and you wear it beautifully!

It took three people, two hand trucks, a forklift and four hours to put all this stuff on...who's gonna take it all off in the "heat of the moment"!! (I know there's a story out there where a maid found out the lady was having an affair because the laces were put back up wrong on her corset...a man had done them!!)
I think about this too especially with Hamilton and how it's framed in the play like he couldn't escape but it would have taken at least 10-20 minutes each for them to get their clothes off
The only underwear that 16th century people would be wearing is a shift (an underdress), so there's no uh.... restriction to access on the bottom. They're all commando.

Thank You! That’s exactly what my daughters went through when they portrayed Nobles at the Renaissance Faires ! The costumes are heavy and Very warm . It is difficult to portray an English Tudor, in California summer weather! 🥵
I'm certain it was with all the brocade and things added. I believe the costumes could be lighter and still look real with lighter material. It does get hot here in California.

No! It's the opposite. Real silk fabric is light and easy to wear, and so is wool. The multiple layers of garments from this era could be layered, removed and then replaced as the weather allowed. We don't wear enough garments in our allegedly modern age. I see way too many people suffering from sunburn, windburn, and wet clothing because they do not have enough clothes. Five changes of clothing per day is recommended for a healthy body. Our modern fabrics, like polyester, do not wick moisture away from the body the way cotton, silk and wool do. Polyester traps moisture close to the skin and tends to mold. Fabrics like polyester were developed during wartime to replace the silks that came from the east. They were never meant as a permanent replacement for these fabrics. The fabric we see in this film is most likely silk, but might be immitation.
Firstly, those are a noblewoman's clothes, which were obviously more elaborate. Lower and middle classes hsd simpler outfits. Secondly, the fact that she is being dressed up here, does not mean that you cannot, when you know what you are doing, dress up yourself - even in a noblewoman's clothing. Please check your facts before writing as to avoid spreading misconceptions.
I loved the movie and repeatedly watch it. The costumes are amazing. The ladies hair and acting is excellent. The tears seem realistic. A gut wrenching story of the Tudors that's assumed to be true. Thank you for all the work done that makes it so real.

Underwear was crotch-less, you don’t undress you just lift up the skirt.
