Thank you so much... now i understand why my coach trained me like this when i was young.. that time i always thinking that he want to bully me and i never look in a good side of his training. Now at age of 38 after seen your video i bought a new gloves and came back to play GK for my village after 15 years not playing football. Ohhh....GOD why your video so owesome and make me crazy as a GOAL KEEPER..
Your videos are very helpful to take back and work on some dirlls individually.istead of always training with team, GK Coach or other keepers. just to work by myself and keep maintaing my technique. keep up the work
good question...two reaasons. 1) it helps to get you further out of balance which is the goal of all the footwork prior to the dive. You must be able to totally control your body as your moving, then in an instant, set, balance and dive. 2) It allows you to strengthen your legs by using a jump. So you get a little jumping in as well as your footwork and your diving.
thank you very much, that is very kind of you. I am a big fan of the Bundesliga gloves as those are what I'm wearing in the video. Unfortunately, Reusch has informed me that they are discontinuing the model for 2009. You might be able to find some remaining pairs on the market, but they will not be producing them any longer.
i wouldn't jump on the leg leg for a while..it kind of depends on the severity of the tear in the meniscus...usually that requires some minor surgery to remove the slightly torn material. Follow the doctor's directions on this one. you can still jump on and work the right leg, though.
He stood out in his first year, as he won end of year EPL honors for his work, the problem came in the beginning of the second year when his inconsistancy and soft goals cost him his place in the team.
most of the time, this jarring of the head will occur on impact with the ground. It is important to make sure that you use either the ball or your hands and forearms to break the momentum of your fall. If you have caught the ball, then you will use the ball to break your fall and your landing should be quite smooth and relaxed. If you don't have the ball in your hands, use the palms of your hands and your forearms to brace for the impact of your body hitting the ground.
Theese videos are really great...... I noticed now that my diving technuiqe is really bad and almost non excisting but i hope with the help of theese videos that i will become a better goalkeeper
depends on your age. After 13 or 14 years old, I think goalkeepers should train everyday on their goalkeeping drills 5 days a week for at least 60 minutes. As for training with the team, hopefully the coach can incorporate 30 minutes a session to functional team training where the goalkeepers are incorporated...like 5v5 or 7v7 small sided games to the goals or shooting drills to the goals that can utilize the goalkeepers. This should be done at least 3 times a week in my opinion.
my suggestion is that you start from your knees like in episode 3 and master that. Do 100 a day for one week. Make sure each one is perfect. The next week, move to your feet and do the next sequence that you see in the episode, with the set, step, jump. Do this 100 times a day for one week. The next sequence is from your feet...set, step, dive. Again 100 times a day for one week. Then finish from your feet with set, dive. Do this 100 times a day for one week. 4 weeks total.
yes, i think it is better to have someone throw you the ball if you have someone available to help you. The only reason we did it this way in the video, is to show you how you can do it if there is nobody around to help you and throw balls or kick balls to you.
just start slow and easy and don't progress to the next level until the current level you are on is perfected. There's no rush or hurry. Just make sure you do some each day and it will come to you in time.
it's tough to give you one specific answer, because gloves are something that every goalkeeper needs to try for himself. I wouldn't recomment one pair or manufacturerer over another, because you need to have 100% confidence in what is on your hand. What one player has total confidence in, another player is not. You need to try 10-15 different models from 4-5 different manufacturers on and see which one you feel the best in.
I use the Adidas FS Allround gloves(black and white, such as Reina use, but he's using them in white and blue..). But, I'm getting tired of them, and I'm unhappy with the them. Any suggestion(not Reusch Bundesliga)? Thanks for all answers!
haha already been bout 2 months since i been following your advice. Been going great, i basically double my diving range to that of what normal goalkeepers should have, im still working on elevated dives but i did have a little scare as my last game 3 days ago i dove pretty high and far where while in the air i only then realized my improvment and that "o shit im pretty high in the air". Unfortuanitly because of my little subconcious conversation i land incorrectly hurting my ribs :/ lol
I think the overall level of goalkeeping in MLS is average at best. Obviously, I think there are goalkeepers who are above average in terms of they're technique and abilities...Busch, Keller, Seitz (although he's not starting), Coundoul is not too bad, Hesmer....as for whether or not it is possible to become a professional goalkeeper if you started at 14...I have one name for you...Tim Howard. started playing as a goalkeeper at 14 because his parents thought it would help burn hyper energy.
Hello again. I've got a trouble with my meniscus(?), so I can't play soccer for about 2-3 weeks. Is there any possibility that I get the same trouble/problem again later? Is the meniscus "sensitive", or is it easy to get the same problem right after I begin to play soccer again? And how will this affect my jumping ability? It's the left knee that's injured.
sure...the site that shows all the gloves i use is reuschusa . com Now this is the u.S. version of the site and the gloves that have available on this site will probably be slightly different than the gloves that are available on reusch's european ste.

great tip on landing with ball.
just last week i caught a cross with a diving catch, but my body hit the ground first and i fumbled the ball.

"use the ball to break your fall" good way to remember it if you make it rhyme, lol. Tell the kids at the camp that one.

what issue was I talking about regarding those numbers?
cant wait to try this out

By the way, can you link me a site that shows me the same gloves that you use? Thanks!
so i should do the exercises on episode 4 before i do this ?

50 each side a day for a total of 100.
