17 year old protects community, gets attacked by violent rioters, runs, gets drop-kicked, has Glock pointed at his face by attacker, defends himself: charged as an adult.

This is more true than people realize. People think the legal system is to protect victims, but it's more to protect perpetrators from the harsh justice victims will mete out if the government isn't there. My mom talked about going to Baltimore in the 80's. She said "What a beautiful city that was." I asked her if she would ever go back. And she just laughed and said "Oh god no." Now shes a liberal, so she couldnt articulate as to why, but deep down we both knew it was because of the bleeps. She said the same thing about never returning to New Orleans, where her and my father had their honeymoon. She was genuinely sad when they came back from their 35th anniversary and New Orleans was a poo-hole. That’s so true I was an officer with Baltimore police from 1985 to 1991. I left it because it is DEI before DEI was a thing. I got turned down from promotion even though I scored the highest in the class the hiring process, which starts with a test, scan test they give you four hours. I took 45 minutes. They mentioned peoples names, asking him to stand up and they leave them out of the class, they say the rest of you that are here you have passed it and you go to the physical agility test. I saw people that failed the written test that was in the physical agility test. After that it’s pretty much individual test like the Minnesota multiple scholastic, test, interviews with brass. I was smart enough to move down to Georgia and police down here and I retired as a lieutenant. Something I never would’ve done in Baltimore even with a college degree and an agent.
We need to start holding these officials accountable.

When minors were caught committing crimes and their legal appointments were transpiring as they turn eighteen, courts attempt to try those minors as adults through special provisions. I left MD for the military back in 2015. By the end of my enlistment seeing how things went I made the decision we weren't moving back and I'm only proven more and more right as time goes on. Ah, my former hometown of Baltimore. Why should this surprise anyone? From the home of the city that decided the best way to cut crime statistics was to never allow their citizens to report a crime! From the city that earned a record amount of money from traffic tickets because the "perfect speed cameras that never fail" were programmed to record the wrong speeds. So countless thousands of people got tickets they should not have. The city where the mayor and vice mayor both get relieved of their duty for embezzlement, and then the former mayor runs again and almost wins!

I work Asset Protection in the Baltimore market. I really appreciate Sean bringing light to the soft on crime approach that most of Maryland jurisdictions operate. I have cases dating back to September of the same Subjects stealing from the same stores that are continuously cited and released with no reprocussions. Retail associates feel unsafe to work in certain areas after dark (Forestville, Clinton, Rockville, etc) and are quitting in droves. Something needs to change

Putting an adult in juvie could lead to all sorts of liability for the local government if he gets into a fight with a minor.
Well, 18 year olds get into "fights with minors" (i.e. 17 and 16 year olds) all the time. I doubt it would be treated any differently from that .

A very important rule is that no one under 18 is ever put together with anyone 18 or older. I guarantee you the moment an 18 year old legal adult puts his hands on a minor in juvie that minors parents will be suing because it will be free money for them. The government won't even fight it. They'll just pay them off.

I don't know what the threshold is, but with 57 counts of attempted and 2-3 counts of actual moodler it seems to me that all the victims could (and should) make a class action lawsuit against the state for this grievous miscarriage of justice.

I am not sure if they can, but this is positively unacceptable. The judge seems to have already shown he will do what he can to pervert justice.
