It depends on what for. I could imagine a particularly unlucky drug addict could be arrested potentially dozens of times across 10-20 years of addiction. Putting addicts in prison doesn’t really help them much, frankly, and who have they hurt if all those arrests are for possession of a cds? And if they’ve never done anything terrible in pursuit of the funds to get those drugs, do we want someone that has never harmed another person to be in prison eternally for something that will very likely end up killing they themself if they can’t get clean?

Getting people a fair trial more quickly would solve a lot of the problems with bail.

In Texas, for example, which had like 25 prisons in 1980 and ended up with over 120 by the end of the 2010s. The only reason there are not more was Covid which got many of them shut down as correctional officers fled en masse. By the end of the 2020s this will be happening again. And, just like the 1980s, more than 70% of the prison population will be black. Why? Because, just like the 1980s, they are, statistically and empirically, the primary committers of crime. Oh, wahh wahh wahhh.... perhaps if they adopted a basic civil culture they would not have a third of their population imprisoned.

@@williamoverton7775that's why we need to reform the judicial system to streamline things and actually give people a speedy trial, like we're supposed to be guaranteed in the Constitution. I get that things get backed up, and you're not always going to be able to get a trial within 24 hours of arrest, but the amount of time people have to wait for trial sometimes is absurd, months or even years. Getting people a fair trial more quickly would solve a lot of the problems with bail.

Judges and DAs have blood on their hands. Not being able to asses dangerousness while taking bail in account is a cop out. THEY made that law to avoid accountability. The people did not make that law

Being OK and making a full recovery are two completely different things, It's never OK to be stabbed with a knife sweetie, and you will never fully recover from any wound, there will always be permanent tissue damages, and life long physical, mental, and emotional scars.
"full recovery" is a medical term. It means they go back to their normal life. When I had hip surgery, I made a full recovery even though I cannot feel anything except more intense pain on the outside part of my thigh.
If I wasn't able to run before, then full recovery would be that I am at the stage I was before. If I couldn't run after then it wouldn't be a full recovery.

Our system is messed up cuz I hav two co workers that are my friends one black an one white both in early 40s the white guy has one boy an he spends at least 10 days in jail a year for back child support an my other friend the black guy has 6 kids an don't pay any child support an never spent one day in jail for child support how is this happening

It's the Reagan era all over again.
Back in the late 70s and early 80s we had this *EXACT SAME PROBLEM* with crooks being tossed out as fast as they could be brought in because of 'prison overcrowding' and other social issues.
And then, by the mid 80s, people got absolutely fed up and suddenly the number if prisons in the US quadrupled in less than 10 years. In Texas, for example, which had like 25 prisons in 1980 and ended up with over 120 by the end of the 2010s. The only reason there are not more was Covid which got many of them shut down as correctional officers fled en masse.
By the end of the 2020s this will be happening again.
And, just like the 1980s, more than 70% of the prison population will be black. Why?
Because, just like the 1980s, they are, statistically and empirically, the primary committers of crime.
