Legit excited about both these new jobs. Viper is incredibly my aesthetic. Hood, leather, swords. I've been wanting a "classic rogue" looking job in FFXIV for a very long time. And the Pictomancer looks so unique I'm really interested to try it out, even though I don't normally play caster DPS.
viper feels more like a blade dancer to me than it does rogue... i usually think of rogues as stealthy assasin type classes that hit quick and hard maybe poisoning... viper seems more of a stylish flashier fighter than that. they seem to have speed but are more "up front" about it if you can understand what i mean by that... hard to explain, more of an agile warrior feel and less of a ambushing squishy rogue i guess. regardless i like the asthetic too and want to play it.
@@Enzelon it feels very much like a DnD Fighter that maxed out DEX instead of STR. Ninja and Rogue feel like "stealthy/ambush" while Viper is like "I'm about to hit you 50 times in 2 seconds."
Yeah but we can't have that because then it won't be completely homogenized with the other jobs. That's why Astrologians are not allowed to be fun and unique.
@gregjones9901 ? It would homogenized with other jobs there are 2 jobs that already have a similar concept: dancer and ninja. It's not the exact same but it still involves a combination of buttons to make a spell
Viper is definitely the highlight for me. I remember really liking the pirate motif of the rogue, and was disappointed when I had to replace it with ninja. Now we can actually play out the rogue job fantasy past lvl 30.
@@blackdynamiteSJC theyre referring to the job identity. rogue goes from pirate adjacent thief-type to jutsu dropping, naruto running shinobi at lvl 30
Since I'm a melee person, viper will probably realistically be what I play if I bring it into my static/change my main, but aesthetically I'm a lottt more excited about pictomancer! Such a unique & creative looking job!
Both Viper and Pictomancer are not for me, but I love the aesthetics and am super glad they are being added. I love Reaper/DRG and RDM too much to give them up as my main melee DPS and magic DPS jobs, but they might surprise me. Honestly, I am most excited about Beastmaster. Bring on the limited jobs, babyyyyyyyyyyyy!
I love them so so much. something about how down to earth viper is (mostly martial slashes with varying moves, less magic than ninja or reaper.) and how colorful and bombastic pictomancer is makes me so happy. I couldn't be happier with dps.
I've been waiting for a new caster for a while now! Black Mage, Red Mage and Summoner are all fun in their own ways, but Pictomancer is directly appealing to me aesthetically. Getting a slight RDM/SMN combination vibe from it so far, but I hope it doesn't just cycle through monsters like SMN does.
Eh, I like that they went for making it look like it's painted, I just wish they went for a more painterly brush stroke aesthetic rather than this Cartoony one. A lot of Martial Arts games use these to great effect, and it would be cool to see that from the Pictomancer. It would also look a lot better, and less jarring in game.
The cartoony effect really feels very cheap. We are going into this expansion with Unreal engine 5 and they go with this? Feels incredibly off. Imo the whole job feels off but ill save my full opinion for the release.
I freaking love Trick/Transforming Weapons, that alone has sold me on Viper (also as a FFXII fanboy i cant wait to cosplay as Gabranth). Pictomancer looks very unique and unlike anything we have in the game so im pretty interested in it, i cant wait to try both of them out!
Hard to really know for me. I need to push the buttons and see us it feels good. Ultimately that will matter more to me than what we’ve seen so far. I didn’t think I would like Ninja cause it seemed too busy etc. Then I played it finally near the end of Shadowbringers and somehow it just made sense in my brain and felt so good to play.
I think it’s beyond fair to say that people wanted/were mostly expecting Corsair and Geomancer/greenmage/SomeSortOfNatureyCaster. We got neither. While Yoshi ofc never promised them, the fact that we got neither during a timeframe that gamers are very clearly stating to devs “hey! Time to listen to us please” (BG3, Dragonflight, starfield failure) it’s just… bad, to be frank. This may be the first time since 1.0 that the ball has been dropped. Maybe it won’t end up that way but it’s certainly on the way.
Love the new jobs looking forward to viper the most. I'm not too bothered bt the pictomancer vfx style, in fact I like how it really gives the look that your spells are being painted into the world, but i do think having the paint look more like water colour would make it fit in with the games style and keep that stylised look. Still excited summer can't come soon enough!😁
I think some are overcomplicating what Picto will be. I feel the painting in the sky is less to do with what colors you're using, but rather just an artsy depiction of your cast time. Most we can expect is something like WoW evoker where, depending on how long you cast, the stronger the spell is up to the max cast time.
as an artist with a head to toe hot pink WOL i am insanely excited for pictomancer and will 100% make it my main class!!! im so excited this looks so much fun and so cute and fits my aesthetic and personality perfectly!
I'll start off by saying neither job particularly interests me much. I'm definitely a lot more interested in the Dragoon and Astro rework, and those could have a lot more of an impact on my 7.0 job choice than either of the new jobs. I know for me personally I don't think a job could appeal to me less than Pictomancer. However, if people are hyped for it, I'm glad that something with a distinct style for casters is there for people. I already like all 3 other casters, so I'm fine with things like this. I'm more interested in Viper, but not by much. I definitely won't level it at launch, because being a day behind everyone in Endwalker because I really wanted to play through the game as a Sage was a drag. But during one of the lulls I'm sure I'll pick it up just for something to do, because I don't outright hate it. I'm actually more curious to see how it fits into PvP and what the CC kit looks like. All in all, I wasn't too excited about the new jobs this time around. But I also didn't care about the new jobs in Shadowbringers either, and I felt like it didn't hinder my enjoyment of the expansion at all. So I doubt not being interested in either of these jobs or the female Hrothgar will really hurt my expansion experience in any way.
I had my heart set on a sword and pistol. The concept made me think of Merlwyb. Viper looks cool, but I will reserve my judgment for when I play it. Pictomancer, on the other hand, is a job I'm really excited for. It blew my expectations of what a new casting job would look like. Seeing it in the expansion trailer and the job trailer gave me this fun and colorful vibe, and I can't wait to try it out.
I feel like Viper COULD end up being really cool but that we just saw it really early and by the time we see it in the Job Action trailer it may look substantially better. Sage is a good example of this where it looked very basic the first time we saw it but once we got around the Job Action trailer it was incredible and I was absolutely sold on it. Reaper's first appearance was also very bare-bones as compared to its final iteration. In both of these instances, it's not like the spells changed greatly but that there was way more context to the full rotation once more abilities were able to be seen. Pictomancer, by comparison, caught my eye right from the beginning. It looks like they're just using basic lower-level spells but they have these really cool animation flourishes along with the cell-shaded painterly art style that really makes it pop on screen. Of course, until I see and hear people talking about these jobs hands on I really can't make any final determinations other than the fact that I will level the jobs (because I level all the jobs) but I'm always open to playing through the story on a new job for a different experience. I played through Endwalker twice with my first playthrough being on Summoner which was an entirely new beast and as such FELT like a new job and then on my second playthrough I used Reaper which I loved so much it ended up becoming my new main job. Regardless, I'll likely have MCH in my back pocket as my secondary as it's been holding it down in two expansions for me now as my reliable DPS go to for all content.
I love both and I think they're very fresh. We don't know their lore or story, and even then we don't know all of their animations but for each role, they're very cool. Viper is a dual sword, swash buckling brute compared to Ninja, and Painter is a gorgeous and possibly more support variant of the casters, to be a sibling to Red Mage (while BLM and SMN stay power houses)
Once I got over my disappointment of Viper not being more pirate, I quickly grew to love it. Pictomancer was love at first sight. First expan in a while where I'm excited to play both jobs. And then to not really get my chance as much cause I'm my FC's forever Tank.
I feel that because I wanted Green Mage in my heart of hearts, but once I got over the initial disappointment I got a bit excited for what Pictomancer COULD be. Melee DPS jobs aren't for me personally but I'm very happy for everyone into them cause Viper does look cool. I'm looking forward to more info over the next few months
I felt they missed a perfect opportunity to add Corsair, and from what I've seen of viper so far it just feels like ninja aesthetically. I didn't appreciate being baited from MSQ's clover (was hoping for green mage) but I have low expectations for pictomancer and am open to being surprised by it. I'm stoked for beast master though.
@@BranBal the TMNT shirt could have been interpreted in many different ways. Could have been geomancer because the Kojin are turtles, could have been green mage because the turtles are green the ninja turtles also protect and have shells (both iconic skills for green mage) further backed by the story dropping the symbol of green mages. Could have even alluded to turtle being Tortuga in Spanish which is a region in Haiti notorious for its piracy thus also Corsair. But I digress, still disappointed with the job initial announcements but we get what we get.
@@MisplacedShadow Hope you get to have fun once you experiment with them. Though, not all jobs are meant for everyone to enjoy. Myself, I don't like any caster or ranged classes, still I want more ranged and caster classes. I like seeing other people using them. 😁
I’m excited for viper because they said it’s Lore will be closely tied to the MSQ. The trailer showed that it will have some lightning themed attacks too. We just need a good remix of the thunder Plateau song from FFX.
what i have learned from Endwalker's version of Summoner is that it literally does not matter how flashy/lame the vfx is, what matters is the job mechanic.. For viper i hope that it has a unique job mechanic that lets it feel different from the other melees, in particular not the reaper style of build gauge -> big damage mode which im getting big vibes of from the descriptions. For Pictomancer, as they've said it isnt a selfish dps and has buffs, I'm hoping that the buff aspect is more than just 'press 1 button every 2minutes and get free 800 rdps', and that the job mechanic could involve as you said, paint combos in order to activate stronger spells, in a sense like an astrologian but in a caster form.
It was the exact opposite for SMN. Does not matter how braindead the gameplay is, as long as the VFX go booom people play it. Playrate for SMN has increased drastically compared to before.
I'm pretty interested in viper, it's on my list for potential msq jobs. Though I'm waiting until we get more info on it and changes to other jobs before I'll make any decision. Picto on the other hand I'm waiting until I can actually get a feel for it, I have pretty neutral opinions on the current casters so maybe picto will be one i actually like
My guess is that DRG will be reworked to be more of a heavy hitter (fitting for the heavy armor melee trope) and Viper will be like old DRG as in lots of off GCDs resulting in fast paced gameplay (fitting for a scouting job).
I think each sub-section (striking, scouting, maiming) of melee will be split into higher pure damage, highee raid DPS contribution. I imagine viper will be in a similar place to reaper, except it will be the scouting equivalent. Maybe a small raid buff akin to reaper, but higher damage. Id be surprised if DRG was reworked to lose its focus on buffs.
Definitely more excited about Viper over Picto Have been a Monk main since 2.X and would occasionally go Nin. So to see a job that could possibly be a combination of the two would be awesome
I was hoping for corsair from ffxi with sword and gun but as melee/support. Viper feels a little flavorless to me but i suppose we'll get more lore and such closer to release.
I'm actually super stoked about both jobs. I think the pictomancer brings a fresh coat of paint to the game. While the viper brings a job more my style to the game, along the lines of gunbreaker. The more variety that we have, the better in all honesty.
I just know pictomancer is going to have some of the best glams ever, I'm excited. Not a fan of the sound effects though, i think its a little much and a bit too high pitched for the basic attacks and will quickly become grating
While I am definitely interested in both jobs to unlock them and test them against a training dummy as soon as I am able, with what we currently know about them I'm not yet planning on getting one or both levelled to 90 ASAP so I can do the MSQ with them. Won't really know if that'll be the case until the job action trailer releases.
Usually when I get a new class I go to POTD to test the skills from level 1 onwards, so I can have a feel on what works and what not. Why dont you try it?
Looking forward to trying both the jobs. To be honest, I wasn't very excited about Viper cause we already have so many sword jobs in the game and it seemed like the job came about in a conversation like "I know we already have quite a few sword jobs but here me out, what if.....instead of 1 sword.....THEY HAD 2". Next sword job can just be Zenos with barrel full of them. Like I get the whole twinblade and maybe Zidane influence but it's not nearly as exciting to me as I'm sure it is to other people. Really looking forward to playing Pictomancer though. Even if it ends up playing similar to other jobs, it'll be fun to look at. Plus, moogle hyper beam.
I've been a BLM main since Shadowbringers. Before that I was MCH, but I'll leave that detail away. If I'm honest tho, the one that I like the most of these two would be Viper. At first, I was really hyped to hear we were getting a new magic DPS. Hearing people predict Pictomancer made me interested/intrigued. What we got tho, I'm not too sure about it. Maybe I need to see more, like in a future job actions trailer or something, but it's not my aesthetic/style I'll say (both the job gear & how the spells look). I play all jobs, so I will end up playing Pictomancer eventually anyway. Matter of fact, my style of playing Dawntrail is I'm going to level both new jobs to Lv90 before I start the MSQ. Usually I head straight for MSQ, not this time. I'm slightly behind the MSQ right now anyway, 6.1, & don't feel like progressing now so I might as well do it when the new jobs are here & new balancing that the old jobs are likely to receive. Nice to start in a new way for the first time as well. I just know I'll definitely use my BLM glamour with the Pictomancer. But yeah, I got really off topic there, but Viper for me seems like the key new job this expansion. Will still remain a BLM main tho.
I'm really hoping that with Picto, they do something with mixing colours. I'd love it if whatever spells we casted related to a colour, fire = red, ice = blue etc and depending on which colours we used, determined what we drew on the canvas. Think Samurai sticker collecting, but we mix paints together for different effects.
Still super disappointed that Viper isnt more of a pirate class when its class armor is a pirate aesthetic and this seems to be a ship/sea themed expac. Biggest letdown for me.
As someone who mostly plays melee dps, I am actually excited for Viper and Pictomancer. This expansion might see me go back to playing a magical dps since I had started as Black Mage. I like the job looks, but it is going to be weird seeing my character as a Pictomancer, seeing the color is more like pastels. Though I have a feeling the buff you are talking about with Viper seems like it might be the burst window for the job, like how Enshroud has more fast moving moves, and is the burst window for Reaper.
If they go with the pattern since Stormblood, 8.0 will have a tank and a Ranged DPS. Both jobs look so cool to me! Can't wait to try them and see if either becomes a main for my WoL!
One of the things I hope they do with Picto, is that weapons change the colours that are used. Like a weapon that it becomes monochromatic, or metallic colours, or even glitter. Theres a lot that you can do with it, even if its exclusive to something like Relic weapons.
I really like a lot of the artifact gear for the jobs, but I play pretty much all the jobs, so I can't glamour with them most of the time. I really want an item set that you can put in the glamour dresser that just shows up as artifact gear. Maybe one for each of the 'max levels'.
Imagine if pictomancer plays like hunting horn in monster hunter where you have a few very similar base attack spells of different colours to piece together into a portrait, basically what the video said tbf bht hunting horn feels the closest comparison.
For your words on Viper. Guilty, because it's exactly what I wanted from a DPS class since ARR. Lots of RPGs I end up going dual swords because I like speed/mobility with a little flashiness. Also nostalgic, because my college art days I designed a game character for courses with dual blades and the AF alone is almost similar to what my OC looked like. There's layers to how happy I was to see that reveal. Picto is another good looking "fun" job. People need to play Bravely Defauly II where I feel the did more for the job than VI did as far as relevancy.
I have to admit that I absolutely love the dual blade aesthetic of attacking with 2 swords, especially if the attacks feel fast, so Viper immediately called out to me at first. While I am immensely hyped and excited for Viper because of that reason, unlike Mr. Happy here, I actually am equally disappointed that the blades have to come together as a glaive. I would've just loved a pure quick GCD, dual bladed job that doesn't shove Ninja mudras into what I would've ideally hoped for as just an onslaught of slashes and slices. It's kind of weird to describe it because I get the "just play Ninja" treatment for being upset about the glaive but that's not the point, the Ninja attacks and Viper attacks are different and I really like what we see of the Viper's style, so I personally hope the glaive isn't too intrusive to my preferred playstyle, but even if it is, I'm glad to at least have a dual bladed representative job that isn't ninja.
The twin blades look great and I'm excited to see the glams for the weapon! I actually was aware of Pictomancer as a job because of Bravely Default 2 and seeing as there are plenty of other jobs in BD2 that cross-over with the FF franchise, I knew it was a possibility (even if I wasn't sure what other FF game might have them)! Honestly, I'm excited to see both these jobs in game and play them both. I've never really had a melee that I've truly loved (Dragoon/Samurai is my preferred at the moment when I need to) so i'm hoping Viper fills in that niche for me more.
BD2 was originally intended as a sequel to Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light for the NDS, before being repurposed into a new IP. But it is very much a Final Fantasy Spin-off, a back to the old style of FFs like FFIV/FFV/FFVI.
Dual Blade is my jam. I've always liked classes who are about speed and I only play dual blades in Monster Hunter. For sure gonna try to main Viper and hopefully it's good.
I was super excited for Pictomancer, but I think I got it in my head that it wouldn’t be this cartoony and I feel let down. I was hoping for darker colours like dark ink, pencil sketch, the type of aesthetic you would expect from Epic Mickey on the Wii (for those who know it), as I thought it would fit not only my character, but the world much better than bright, vibrant cartoon effects. I feel like the effects are going to break my immersion, which is fine since I usually play with others’ effects off, but I was really looking forward to this caster and now my hype for it is nada… if the style does fit someone else’s want for the game, great! I hope you enjoy. I’m just expressing that I felt let down for a job that I really looked forward to
Or perhaps tasteful/subtle landscape shades. What if we could change which palettes of colors we use? lol. I've been hoping for more job-specific audacity like they did with bards having musical instruments. Blue mage spellbook is in line with that, and surely beastmaster too. Thought they could do an actual interface for egi glamours at some point, or picking which summoner primals to bring.
I like them both! I want to try Viper because I enjoy high APM classes. Plus, from what I can tell Dawntrail still hasn't fixed healers and I'm a healer main, so if I want to play at all I'd need to embrace something new.
to be fair, you can't really say anything about "from what I can tell" since we havent gotten any information about the existing jobs at all yet. Hopefully we'll have a better idea in the coming live letters and such
Personally I'm looking forward to pictomancer it looks like a fun class to use, and as someone who paints as a hobby I'm excited. I just imagine the people who're hating on this are just salty it's not Green Mage.
If someone dislikes the thing you like, it doesn't mean they're "salty"... It just means they have a different opinion from you. Personally, I dislike the Splatoon aesthetics and splashy SFX of PIC. If PIC had a more mature and refined vibe to it, it would fit better with the overall presentation of the game, and I would be more interested. If GRN was added to the game, and it had goofy childish animations, I wouldn't like it either. Simples.
@@OhNoTheFace "If someone dislikes the thing you like, it doesn't mean they're "salty"... It just means they have a different opinion from you." - Me, about 49 minutes ago.
@@OhNoTheFace literally nothing they said was whiny or salty lmao. all they did was explain that not liking picto doesnt automatically mean its because they wanted GRN instead. its because they don't like how it looks. but not liking something = "whiny" apparently. this community smh. "you're either with us or you're against us" mentality, its mega cringe. just grow up.
Viper is a job that could go, for me, to one of the two directions: (1)either the "combined glaive" will be a burst mode, similar as the Reaper's Enshroud. (2)either changing from "swords kit" to "glaive kit" will determine different combos, something akin, but not equal, to the combined weapons that we saw in Bloodborne
I'm beyond excited for Pictomancer. I'm a caster main and have a real soft spot for Art Themed Mages in media. So ill be picking up this job at the start of the expansion for sure.
Both seem interesting and I feel Viper and Picto may be fun to play. Hoping with the next live letter we'll get more info on how they work in-game (job gauge, general idea of how rotation works, etc). Maybe we'll get a video showing off the lvl 100 job actions, but that could be a while depending on development
Pictomancer seems too cartoon-ish to me, but I hope I am pleasantly surprised. I will give it a try, but the cartoon/splatoon feel of it seems out of place to me for this game. I am super hyped about viper though! I cannot wait to try that one out.
Idea for picto. You paint the big pictures / long casts and to get through the cast you need to apply the color values I.e. cast the short spells. Long cast in the job video was shooting stars on a night sky. You start casting it and to complete it you need to cast earth atk spell for the yellow of the stars, once cast the stars of the big spell is painted, then you need to cast water spell for the darker blue of the night sky, and once completed the night sky part is painted in the big spell. You cast all the short spells / colours of your palette for the picture and once you’ve done them all the big spell is cast.
For me personally... Both are ok .. not hyped for either ... Gimme the dragoon rework so I can either celebrate or be bummed out (depending on if they ruin my main or make it better)
Extra post for extra engagement! You mention where it could slot into the Caster role. I may be WAY off in left field, but I'm thinking it might be similar to MNK. High optimization, relatively straightforward "basic" concepts. I could see each base spell giving a color to your Job Gauge, sorta like the Field Effect system in Chrono Cross (I know, old reference), and when you get X number of them, you use the Sketch ability and get a result based on the colors you've got. Might do a "most recent three" like AST seals do. Between NIN Mudras, AST Seals, and MNK Masterful Blitz, we already have three variations on this "use three abilities, use fourth ability and get result" system in place. I could also see it being like MNK in the sense of having a more "freeform" (unless optimizing?) rotation where you cycle freely through all of your colors, but use specific ones leading up to your burst window to prep for it, like how MNK works or kinda how NIN works (using Suiton as your last "burn to prevent overcap" Ninjutsu before burst so you have Trick ready as soon as burst starts). I feel like if BLM is the SAM of the Caster role, PCM may be the the MNK of the Caster role. Some party utility, but not a ton, relatively high damage, but not quite the highest, with a more free flowing rotation that still wants you to do specific things for your burst windows/prep for your burst windows to maximize them. ...not at all for me. I don't have a DPS brain, I have a healer brain that sometimes flexes to tanks, can manage SMN well, RDM when I'm feeling frisky. So it won't be for me, probably, but I could see it being fun for people who like BLM/MNK type Jobs and want more of them. One thing I think is that the Caster role right now really nails heterogeneity. Each of the three (hell, four if we want to count BLU) feel very different to play, and it has a good spread of difficulties from SMN being really approachable, RDM being somewhat approachable though difficult to optimize, and BLM being understandable in a very basic sense but not very approachable to play decently and very difficult to master. Slotting PCM in between RDM and BLM seems like a natural fit to fill in the one gap the role has and finish fleshing it out. My only question there is what could they add after that to the Caster role, but they have 6 years to figure that one out. :D
I just like that we got a bright and colourful class, joyful even. Dark and edgy is great and all but getting a happier aura'd class like the dancer is great.
Something very important to mention about Viper: The first GCD they do in the job trailer applies some sort of debuff. Obviously we can't tell what it is, but we can see the detriment visually appear on the morbol. So they likely have some sort of DoT to maintain or another debuff similar to Reaper perhaps? All speculation but they for sure have a debuff to apply on a GCD
As someone who has sadly not been able to play for some time. I still need to finish Stormblood, and get to the first healer class that interested me (Sage). That and Phantasia into a Hrothgar lady from my bun
I could not be more uninterested in viper, it just looks like another melee. But, pitomancer looks so cool and unique. The animations are so pretty and whimsical, its going to be really fun glamouring them and will probably be the 1st dps I lvl after I do msq on WAR.
I never thought green mage was possible. Just doesn't work with the current combat system. Though i also didnt see much hope for pictomancer either, but I'm happy to see it here!
If they changed Sage as much as they did they could do the same for Green mage while keeping aspects of it. After the hype for green being possible i actually do hope they think about it in the future. It'd be neat to have the rainbow of mages through out the franchise in XIV.
As an artist that also have a witch OC that wields a giant paintbrush as a wand/broom, Pictomancer had me literally screeching out loud. If it's as fun to play as it looks, I'm definitely switching my main DPS job to it, lol. And I love how cartoony and artsy the spells look! I'm even more hyped about PIC than I ever was about Red Mage (my current main DPS), and RDM used to be my favourite FF job/class of all time. X3
Also, I suspected/called Pictomancer. Mostly because it was the one that I wanted LEAST between it, Green Mage, Time Mage, and Geomancer. All the others I think would have fit better. Relm was one of those "this game's Blue Mage", like Quina in FF9. A one-off character, not a Job proper. So Pict as a full Job instead of Limited Job is just odd. And...yeah, I REALLY don't like the paint splatter sound effect. But again, healer main, so it doesn't exactly matter to me as long as it's not visually/auditorily annoying in parties. I DID like Krile's ethereal neon paints in the CGI, though.
Both look really exciting to me. Pictomancer's unique visuals are really nice and stand out a lot more than viper's look, but I still really appreciate that they're finally rounding out the melee gear sets with another scouting, especially one that has a very different look to ninja that people who prefer the rogue aesthetic will probably enjoy.
Really like the basic look of Viper.. but I think I actually audibly sighed when they showed the combined blade part. Something about that is so Phantom Menace era old school cringe to me. And I am actually quite interested in Picto. The problem is it's a caster and I already love RDM (my main job) and quite enjoy BLM.... and I don't hate SMN even if I find it way too simple in it's current state. So it's another job in a role that I already have both my main job in as well as "favourites" in. Once I get hands on it might find it's place on my personal tier list but unless they ruin RDM it's always going to be, at best, second place.
I get a feeling that the spells for pictomancer will probably give a colored token similar to those given by Sam's combos. Whichever combination of color tokens you have when casting the skill or spell they'll give you to expend them will probably determine the aesthetic and effect of said skill/spell.
I love them both for different reasons, but Viper is where it's at for me. That job gear is super cool and I can't wait to see more of the various phases and how it plays! I'm probably too afraid of spoilers to start MSQ as VPR, but I'll definitely level it on the side as soon as I can!
I am a huge fan of Viper, my favourite type of jobs are the more toned down and grounded ones where they can kind of be whatever you make it with your glams and fantasy, a Reaper for example can't really be anything else other than a Reaper because of the ultra specific weapon and skill effects and animations.
What would be cool is while playing pictomancer you had a chance to add a monster that you’ve battled to your list of paintable creatures and then it would cycle randomly during casts. That way no two pictomancers would have the exact same creatures. It would be almost a cool collection mini game. Don’t have the monsters do anything different, just make them randomly cycle through for visual effect only. I know that would take development a long time but I think it would be fun. Maybe make it a 5% chance that you will obtain whatever monster you fought into your “bestiary paintings” of sorts.
i’m hyped on viper bc i like dual wielding rogue type classes in any MMO. i would’ve mained ninja in 14 but imo i’m not a fan of the mudra system so having this dual wielding non-jutsu focused melee is right up my alley
Personally I actually enjoy the fact that Viper is a lil less "flashy" than some of the other jobs. I looove the rogue aesthetic and part of that love comes from the idea of them being a lil more down to earth and catering to the stealth. At first I was a little put off by the Splatoon n bright Fall Guys-like colors for Pictomancer, but I'm warmed up to it and am still excited for how it will play regardless! It also makes room for plenty of fun character head canon and boy...the memes...memes abound...and as an artist myself I definitely will be adding to that pile LOL
I am so stoked for both! The more expected MMO combat-class flavor option of Viper, the fun & funky classic FF weirdness of Pictomancer... I am super down! 😊
The reveals tell us very little (especially for Viper), so I don't have much opinion on either job. Viper's aesthetic appeals to me, but I would personally prefer pure dual wielding. Pictomancer doesn't appeal to me at all, aesthetically or conceptually.
Can't rightfully say without playing the jobs. The most important part about a job in terms of retention is how it plays, and aside from vague ideas with Viper and guesses with brush mage, we have no idea.
Couldn't agree more about the person glamming Pictomancer is probably even more important aesthetic wise than other casters lmao. I feel the same way. As for Viper I'm already a melee heavy player as a tank main and mnk/drg main. I haven't had a caster dps I resonate strongly with but Pictomancer may just be that one as I'm a massive splatoon fan too.
I love that Beastmaster is already following in Blue Mage’s footsteps by not getting mentioned in this video 🙏

Viper is basically a rogue...
@@ReyRey277 The rogue that does not go full naruto
viper feels more like a blade dancer to me than it does rogue... i usually think of rogues as stealthy assasin type classes that hit quick and hard maybe poisoning... viper seems more of a stylish flashier fighter than that. they seem to have speed but are more "up front" about it if you can understand what i mean by that... hard to explain, more of an agile warrior feel and less of a ambushing squishy rogue i guess. regardless i like the asthetic too and want to play it.

I would hope pictomancer's job HUD involves mixing colors together to get new colors, like red + blue gets you purple

I couldn't be happier with dps.
i would not call pictomancer bombastic lul. Recycled VFX with nickelodeon slime looks out of place, modders have done better visuals since SHB.

Ohhh like a charge mechanic for spell power? That sounds really cool
The starting point movement of the brush for each color is mirroring the elemental wheel.
I find it equally as likely for that mountain painting to possibly be an ogcd ability that isn't an attack itself.
I was mildly disappointed it wasn't a sword/pistol combo, but I fully expect viper to be a contender for "new favorite".
as an artist with a head to toe hot pink WOL i am insanely excited for pictomancer and will 100% make it my main class!!! im so excited this looks so much fun and so cute and fits my aesthetic and personality perfectly!
I play casters(mostly red mage) and ninja so I'm honestly just super excited to have new jobs in both those categories. And twin blades are sick.
Same. Was really hoping they'd do a Corsair
Then don't be. Put your enjoyment first over others, you are always your first priority.
YoshiP did say the hint for the new jobs were in his TMNT shirt
@@BranBal the TMNT shirt could have been interpreted in many different ways. Could have been geomancer because the Kojin are turtles, could have been green mage because the turtles are green the ninja turtles also protect and have shells (both iconic skills for green mage) further backed by the story dropping the symbol of green mages. Could have even alluded to turtle being Tortuga in Spanish which is a region in Haiti notorious for its piracy thus also Corsair. But I digress, still disappointed with the job initial announcements but we get what we get.

Though, not all jobs are meant for everyone to enjoy. Myself, I don't like any caster or ranged classes, still I want more ranged and caster classes. I like seeing other people using them.

@@BranBal hope you find one you enjoy too dude. :) I'm sure they might surprise, I'm curious to see how they'll mesh in endgame content for sure.
We really didn’t need another melee class before getting another physical ranged dps class. We just got a melee class last expansion.
Womp womp
Yeah but now it's balanced, 2 scouting, 2 maiming, 2 striking
I was more referring to the pace of gameplay, slow heavy hitter like a warrior, blackmage or reaper vs fast gameplay like ninja. @@OathkeeperSoraXIII
@@theChaosKe ah thanks for clarifying.
Viper basically made me a Viper/Ninja main. Love they can share gear with the added bonus of sharing accessories with ranged DPS.
Definitely more excited about Viper over Picto

The phys ranged in my static made a comment once after picto's reveal saying that the landscapes may be similar to bard's songs in terms of gameplay
The more variety that we have, the better in all honesty.
i see what you did there 🤓
I'm frowning at you for that one
@@BranBal Simple: I'm not too big a fan of deep dungeons
I don't play FFXIV anymore because it consumed my life, but it's still nice to look at the new exciting stuff. Great video Mr.Happy
Yeah I like the dual swords more than the twinblades
I'm really digging both of these new classes to come! I can hardly wait!
Your initial thoughts help me with not only my love for Viper, but the look into Pictomancer. Thank you
Still super disappointed that Viper isnt more of a pirate class when its class armor is a pirate aesthetic and this seems to be a ship/sea themed expac. Biggest letdown for me.
I love sword DPS jobs, and fast jobs with lots of OGCDs, so I'm picking up Viper right away!
Im literally expect viper to turn-heads with its full reveal and pull out something crazy and make ppl say "Im definitely maining this in Dawntrail 😮"
That will never happen xD we cant even glam 2 different daggers on NIN, swapping VFX is crazy town
I really like a lot of the artifact gear for the jobs, but I play pretty much all the jobs, so I can't glamour with them most of the time. I really want an item set that you can put in the glamour dresser that just shows up as artifact gear. Maybe one for each of the 'max levels'.
2 DPS release stinks. I wanted a tank.
Viper *looks* cool, but I have little hope for how it plays.
Pictomancer is for sure gonna be good.
I'm maining Viper, that was made for me xD but I'm happy for Pictomancer because of its look and I have some friends who are eager.
Dual Blade is my jam. I've always liked classes who are about speed and I only play dual blades in Monster Hunter. For sure gonna try to main Viper and hopefully it's good.
I was hoping Viper would have been sword and pistol.
That class already exists 😂
I'm so glad it wasn't Corsair.
@@jtowensbyiii6018 It does not, there is no job in the game that wields a pistol and a sword.
I'll be running Viper through MSQ, but I'm definately levelling Picto on the side
Simples.

Im really looking forward to the Job Action Trailer, im torn right now between keeping Reaper as my main or switching to Viper.
Same😢
Saaaaaame 😭
Job action trailer and benchmark!
The animations are so pretty and whimsical, its going to be really fun glamouring them and will probably be the 1st dps I lvl after I do msq on WAR.
to each their own i guess as someone who always play dual sword in every mmorpg and games i can play im really hyped for it :3
I never thought green mage was possible.
I'm quite surprised to see you aren't negative about these Mr. Happy. Its nice to see you positive and not nit-picking things apart.
As an artist im so glad picto got revealed
Also, I suspected/called Pictomancer. Mostly because it was the one that I wanted LEAST between it, Green Mage, Time Mage, and Geomancer. All the others I think would have fit better. Relm was one of those "this game's Blue Mage", like Quina in FF9. A one-off character, not a Job proper. So Pict as a full Job instead of Limited Job is just odd. And...yeah, I REALLY don't like the paint splatter sound effect. But again, healer main, so it doesn't exactly matter to me as long as it's not visually/auditorily annoying in parties. I DID like Krile's ethereal neon paints in the CGI, though.
looking foward to play Viper, looks pretty cool ! Can't wait for the Job Action trailer
After both reveals im still more hyped for the ast abd dragoon rework.
I may play picto, but still not sold on viper.
I'm a fan of both! Will be playing Viper through the MSQ (I like to use the "canon" job), and will check out Pictomancer afterwards.
The Warrior class in TERA was the best dual wielding sword class I’ve ever played in MMO’s.
i’m hyped on viper bc i like dual wielding rogue type classes in any MMO. i would’ve mained ninja in 14 but imo i’m not a fan of the mudra system so having this dual wielding non-jutsu focused melee is right up my alley
Cannot wait for the media tour and all the hands on for every class. Viper definitely has my vote for coolest job since Gunbreaker.
I want en epic mickey crossover brush option
Personally I actually enjoy the fact that Viper is a lil less "flashy" than some of the other jobs. I looove the rogue aesthetic and part of that love comes from the idea of them being a lil more down to earth and catering to the stealth.
At first I was a little put off by the Splatoon n bright Fall Guys-like colors for Pictomancer, but I'm warmed up to it and am still excited for how it will play regardless! It also makes room for plenty of fun character head canon and boy...the memes...memes abound...and as an artist myself I definitely will be adding to that pile LOL
Viper got that Zidane aesthetic, and FF9 is my favourite so I'm hyped
