Choo Choo’s good care probably lead to Wally’s long life. 6 years is much longer than the average Chipmunk life.
A good supply of protein will do that, now that she feeds them mealworms they live longer. All the tarantula youtube channels I've watched have said their T's lived longer since feeding them mealworms.
Well they can live up to 10 years but this is not likely in the wild

It must be so hard wondering if your older chipmunk friends will wake up in the spring. Your relationship with Wally and Chucky was so sweet and special. Knowing how short their life span is must make them more precious. I'm sad to lose another beautiful little friend. 😢
I was there when Chucky did not return, and now, for Wally. When Wally was digging tunnels in Chu Chu's front garden last year, moving from her lake home , she must have known. She wanted to be closer to Tom and Chu Chu.😢
@ceciliawilson6328 yeah agreed. Sad to see them go but thanks to chu chu and tom's love and care, she lived to be a ripe old age. I like to think that the chipmunks pass away peacefully during their hibernation.
I loved Chucky so much and I loved Wally just as much. This post made their absence real. I believe ChooChoo and Tom extended their lives with trust and nourishment. I am in tears. Wish they could have stayed longer 😪 ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

experienced a similar pain - I adored a sweet little chipmunk I named Clementine, and it was so hard when she passed away. She came to see me one last time before she passed - and I could tell she was not well and was saying goodbye. I feel for your pain and loss…my sympathy to you❤

Wally's friendship was steadfast and very loyal. I had forgotten just how comfortable she was being held and stroked ... and eager to accept a new morsel of food from your fingers. I will always remember and cherish those memories of both Wally and Chucky - very, very dear friends. Thank you, Choo Choo (and Tom), for sharing them with us and, especially, for making your tribute videos of them. They and you have made the past several years much more enjoyable!
다람쥐들 수명이 짧은 게 너무나도 아쉽지만 평균 수명에 비해 윌리는 몇년 더 있었으니 행복하게 잘 지냈다고 생각 됩니다.

Wally and Chucky are the unseen ones who dig holes in your flower pots and leave sunflower seed shells inside the front door. I believe Wally fell asleep in her burrow with a full tummy and passed peacefully just like Chucky did…❤️❤️😪

I've loved Wally since I first saw her, she had personality plus, plus. She created wonderful babies and always brought them to meet ChooChoo. The cutest thing she did though was to get into ChooChoo's pocket for seeds, stick her little head out, then dive back in for more seeds. She sure spent a lot of time with Tom and ChooChoo, for the love. Oh, Bless you both. You gave her a long life.

I guess this is because Wally did not come back from winter sleep? This is sad news. First Chucky, now Wally. Thank you for telling us. We loved Wally of the Lake also. So friendly. It seems she lived twice her normal life span, no doubt due to the good food and protection. Love from California to you both and all the chippies. I knew what this was as soon as I saw the title, and had to work up to watching it. Wally!!!! My favourite chipmunk! I think she died in her sleep, like Chucky, and she never suffered or worried you weren't there - because you were there, in her dreams. It's the best way of dying that can be hoped for in the wild, I guess. She didn't have to suffer a scary death from something attacking her. Her belly was always full. She had your protection and she could always rely on you, as she showed by moving her house next to yours in her old age. And she had more than twice the lifespan most chipmunks get, and got to live in beautiful, peaceful surroundings and get neck rubs. I'm happy she had such a good life, but I'm sad it's over!

Don’t worry, ChooChoo. She knew you were always beside her, if she was upset on her last day she knew she could come to ask you to let her in. I think she went to sleep in her warm nest with her belly full of food you gave her and just let herself stay asleep.

the music put several lumps in my throat, and made my eyes tear up. part of me wants to live in fresh green nature too, and yet still I love and appreciate my modern comforts. it just feels so good, to feel a part of Gods eternal nature. I know that when you go and if your heart is full of love, then you go right to heaven. my guess is that wally and chucky probabally visit you and have a nice chat in your dreams, its seems sweet that way

Obviously so sad we won't see the wonderful Wally anymore. She brought joy to so many thousands of people but as they it's better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all.
I wouldn't worry too much how her final hours were. I think it's highly likely she went into her winter sleep and just passed away naturally of old age.
She lived a very long and happy life and none us could wish for more than that.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I was hoping Wally would come back this spring despite her very long life. She was a lovely little chipmunk. And when she started being a "house-chipmunk" like much-loved Chucky, she reminded me of Chucky, but that life goes on, more to live + more to love. But it seems Wally's moved on, like Chucky. Bless them both.

Wally lived longer because she had Choo Choo feeding her and giving her loving massages. I miss both Wally and Chucky. Both unique characters that brought a lot of joy to many.
