- Welcome back to the second video about Moneyballon my channel. The previous video was a little bit outdated and since then I have added mulitple extra roles. In Football Manager 24 it is always difficulty to find the right players to buy, decided which players do the best in which position and most importantly to find the best wonderkids. The Excel will help you decided which players will upgrade your team and which players should play where. Everything in this video is based data, enjoy!

This is a very unique and solid way to find players and implement a moneyball style of squad building. However one big limitation I see is it does not account for the potential of a player. E.g. your excel says player XYZ is only the 4th or 5th best for that role at your club but he might turn into a much better player after 3-5 years of development.
You're right! Since the release of this video I have updated the Excel file a lot. It now also includes the ages of the players, their contract and personalities. I have also added a certain rating the players can grow from their age. So let's say a player is 18 years old, from 18-21 I expect him to grow for another 3 points. Meaning a 12 at age 18, could be a 15 at age 21. That way you can much more easely calculated if a player actually makes it. Besides that I have noticed that personalities have a big role in the game and I use the in-game potential ability a lot to determine. Ofcourse you're gonna miss out on some wonderkids this way, but at least you wont miss the absolute top ones!
Hey just found your channel. Super cool concept. I have a problem though. When I open the html file with all the squad and scouted players data some of their names look weird. For example Moises Caicedo will be pasted as Moisés Caicedo, Antonio Silva as António Silva. Is there anything I can change in the Football Manager settings so any name with special characters it will be normal? Hope you can help.
@@Rasmus98 welcome! Did you buy the game from steam or playing throught the game pass?
@@UnskilFM bought it from Steam. In game all the names are fines but not when I bring it to Excel.
@@Rasmus98 and what happens when you open the file you download in your internet Explorer? Are the names already weird in there?
@@UnskilFM yeah. It’s like every player that has a name with like é or ö it doesn’t work.
@@Rasmus98 i think it has to do with the fact that you can only use the views from the discord in the "scouted players" tab in your scouting hub. Can you ask in the discord with @everyone maybe someone can help you, i am current not able to log into fm due to vacation :)
Def a fun way of something I generally do manually although I generally count Green as 200% and Blue as 100% just because it makes it easier to do when I'm comparing the players on the compare player screen.
I agree with the other people that say Moneyball is a term that's kind of reserved for those who do hidden attributes and stats only saves. That community is pretty dedicated but they exsist and have been around for awhile. If anything I'd say this is idk just Attribute Analysis. Or Data Driven FM! for a more marketable name.
As for data though, I'd suggest weighing the physical attributes for outfielders higher than tech or mentals because it's been shown (at least for mid and attacking players when paired with certain helpful attributes like work rate and dribbling) to have a multiplicative effect that makes the guide of the greens and the blues to be just that. A guide. The engine still gives priority to players who can GET THERE on the pitch to put their talents into effect over more talented players who can't or won't do so as often.
I understand where everyone is coming from with the Moneyball. And i suppose it is just a matter of preference how to name it. Althought I understand the community in fm is pretty hardcore when it comes to 'moneyball'.

I agree that maybe physicals should be rated higher than technicals!
Also whats the difference to put the blues to 50 and green to 100? I believe that they both matter a lot but i recon the physicals are the most important since gegenpress became so OP in FM.

I thought moneyball you weren’t allowed see there attributes?
Depends on your definition doesnt it? Google would argue with you that it is finding players on low budget that perfectly fit your style of play!

@@GerS1182 Thats exactely what I am doing! However if you want to go further you can also mask attributes but that take a lot of dedication lol
It's depends on how you would want to play. There are different ways to play moneyball. Different creators have different ways
This isn't moneybags
If anything it's the opposite
