sPod is so much easier and better with the touch screen. My 2 cents you will save more in wiring and labor and only run a single wire through firewall for 8 switches. Can run a second unit in tandem with same touchscreen on same wire for 16 switches if your rig is really crazy.

And the products used seem like they definitely are the best route to go. A lot to explain and even more actual work. Good job covering everything. This was very complete.

Possibly a dumb question -but I was a bit confused about the relays, do you need one relay per accessory? So say I wanted to add ditch lights and a light bar I would need two relays? If that is the case how would I add 2+ relays to one positive terminal to the battery?
You are right! You will want 1 relay per accessory. So each one of those switches is connected to a relay that “relays” power from the battery to the individual accessory. To connect multiple relays to your battery you can just stack ring terminals on top of one another and attach them to the positive post. You can also get special battery terminals that have screw terminals to make it easier on you.
For now we only have the 3rd Gen Tacoma harnesses available, but we are working on it! I have prototypes for the 2nd Gen Tacoma and the 5th Gen 4Runner.
What you can do is cut the red and black wires coming from the harness and add your own connectors at the end of them, then plug those two leads right into the + and - leads from the dual function switch if you want a more detailed explanation feel free to shoot us an email at support@tacomabeast.com
I know this is a old video but I just purchased 17 acces cab tacoma. My USB port suck for charging. Wanted to add a 12 v USB port . I got 12 volts at the cargo lamp plug but when I plug in the USB port it doesn't work. Am I missing something.
The sleeves and terminals used are simple open-barrel spade terminals. You can get them from Corsa, Mouser, DigiKey, etc and should come as a kit (terminal + sleeve). Crimpers are any ratcheting open-barrel crimp tool on Amazon you can find. For the connectors you can find those as a complete wire harness on TacomaBeast (link in the description).
I have a 2014 Tacoma Base Model double cab..It has a 4.0L 6 cylinder engine.I want to add fog lights in the front bumper where the blanks are at now.I also want to add additional lighting on a bull bar.Can I order aftermarket switches and how can I tell if my truck is pre-wired for fog lights? Thank you. Patrick
Silly question for the red wire with relay to battery........ why not put the relay and red wire and tap into an existing fuse inside the car that has constant 12v power ???
One of the benefits of a relay is to position higher-draw accessory power outside of the cab of the truck and in the engine bay (behind the firewall). That way you just keep your low-amperage wires in the cab where they pose minimal risk. A lot of relays (they make solid-state relays that don't do this) are also pretty loud; the coil that opens and closes makes a "click" sound and it gets irritating over time in the cab. To answer your question more directly: we prefer to connect relay power directly to the battery as it prevents you from drawing too much current from the fused circuit in the panel. Remember that each of those fuses on the panel is supplying power to something else on your truck; you wouldn't want to overload one of those circuits and constantly pop the fuse (or worse you could short-out the factory part you tapped).
Awesome video, awesome product. Question: if your light bar has its own harness with relay; does the black wire not get used going to the switch? It would appear that it is only the ground for the backlight which is now being taken care of in your harness. Thoughts?
That’s right - if your light bar harness is supplying ground to the preexisting switch you would disregard it as the switch illumination harness takes care of ground. You can just put electrical tape over the bare end or heat some shrink tubing and pinch the end to “cap” the unused ground.
I'm wiring fog lights using the stock GX460 wiring. I'm tapped into the relay wire on the ECU harness. If you ground that wire, it activates the fogs. My question is, do I connect that wire to the Toyota type switch on the relay wire? Tn do I connect "source" (green) to a ground point? Appreciate the advice.

Hello. Informative video. My Tacoma TRD Pro off Road 2019 has and issue of PCS & TSS.totaly no power at all. If you font mind can you give me and idea what the isue is. Thank you.
The trigger on the cargo light is negatively actuated, so it is not as straightforward. You would need to use the ground-controlled pin to actuate the ground of your new relay. Or find a way to convert the (-) into a (+).
If you’re talking about illuminating the backlight of an SP9100 then yes the left of steering wheel harness can be used. You just cut the 2-pin connector off the left of steering wheel harness and attach the white wire from the SP9100 (supposed to go to the parking lights) to the red wire on my harness. You could then just cap the black wire.
Thank you! I’m going to use an SP9100 and a power management tray setup. Just trying to figure out the easiest way for a novice to set it all up without cutting and splicing factory wiring.

Come on guys, not just another product we need to buy, just tell us which wires to tap on so for people who are more knowledgeable can tap without spending another few hundred bucks buying things that not really need to. Sorry will give a thump down
@@Yankeefan78471 I came to your video thought I could learn how but it was not helpful but the video is simply trying to push some products. So I learned it from another video and share it to your viewers: There're green wires from the surrounding swiches that you can tap in to light the switch when the light is turn on. It's pretty simple for DIY people.
Your truck is going to burn down. Over 10$ lighted switches. Hacking into factory harness and power panel. You make your own harness off your accessories. Off fuse . Off relay to battery..than master Off switch so it won't drain your battery leave you stranded.
We’re not powering an accessory of these harnesses. The only thing we’re doing with the harness is borrowing the illumination circuit to light very low-draw LEDs on the switch. The actual accessory is powered by a relay. The switch drives the relay coil using a different wire on the switch that doesn’t draw from the illumination circuit. Each switch we are using is drawing an inconsequential amount (0.5 mA) from the factory illumination circuit. The current we are drawing is lower than the total amp rating of the wire in the PANEL circuit. The PANEL circuit is fused at the driver’s kick panel fuse box... Those LEDs in the switches draw 0.5 mA. That means you’d need 2,000 switches to reach 1A. The PANEL fuse in your kick panel is rated for around 7.5A. Not to mention, Toyota (and NASA) uses breakout harnesses.

Honestly crazy thankful you guys created this how to guide. Really helped to break-down/explain the path to properly connecting switches to your accessories; as a victim of novice mistakes- I’ve blown many fuses and relays trying to figure things out myself. I only ever went with non-LED switches because they’d always “pop”. This guide makes me excited because now I can do a better job wiring accessories on my 3rd Gen, where my 2nd Gen played as my proving grounds. Thanks TacomaBeast
Excellent video. I pretty much did this without all those connectors but they look really handy and neat. Looks like a great product. I didn't know about the cargo light connection since I also have an access cab Taco, thank you for the info. Will have to use that next time. Also the cover for the fuse box is a great addition since the factory one breaks as soon as you take it off and has no room for a tap a fuse.
A lot of relays (they make solid-state relays that don't do this) are also pretty loud; the coil that opens and closes makes a "click" sound and it gets irritating over time in the cab. Why do you need a daisy chain for the illumination wire couldn’t you pigtail a few together and ground as well?
It’s reversible, ensures a proper connection (versus crimping several conductors into a single terminal), and is dummy proof.
Yeah it’s just easier to do and you can’t really mess it up 🤷♂️
Instead of using an in-line fuse, could I use the fuse from the Sunroof that my Tacoma does not have?
When you run the wire through the firewall are you poking a hole in the boot? If not where are you running the wire through?
Just follow all the cables that already go through the firewall. No need to poke any holes. It’s easier said than done. Take your time

If you're more knowledgeable you could probably figure it out on your own... yeah? Thanks for the thump!
@@mustardfj40 it’s a product installation video made by an aftermarket accessory company. Context went right over your head, huh?
Hello dear friend, I am one of your ardent fans. I have a request: Please provide a playlist of the equipment you have installed on Taco or the changes you have made to Taco systems and chassis.
Thank you very much
Can any of these harnesses be used on a 5th gen 4Runner?
These are made specifically for the Tacoma 🤙
Fuckin awesome
Honestly crazy thankful you guys created this how to guide. Really helped to break-down/explain the path to properly connecting switches to your accessories; as a victim of novice mistakes- I’ve blown many fuses and relays trying to figure things out myself. I only ever went with non-LED switches because they’d always “pop”. This guide makes me excited because now I can do a better job wiring accessories on my 3rd Gen, where my 2nd Gen played as my proving grounds.
Thanks TacomaBeast
we’re glad you liked the video and we could help! 🙌
Wish they had this for 2nd gen.
This guy is The Man. Much appreciated on this information dump.
One of the most comprehensive switch wiring video I have seen. Saving this one for future reference. Great job.
Glad it was helpful!
Best instruction ever! Will save it for later! Thanks bro!
I wonder if accessories and resources like this exist for the 3rd Gen 4Runner..
Daisy chains are awesome. Saves so much work.
This video is really useful, giving it a thumbs up to save it. Thanks
So glad you liked it bro!
What a great video! Thank you
This is the content we need. Would love to see more budget content.
Thanks for the feedback!
Excellent! and completely OCD that's exactly the type of valued tips the make things easy for not so experienced. THANK'S GUYS
