Broadway version of La Vie Boheme combined:
• RENT (Broadway) - La V...
Musical: Rent
"The opposite war isn't peace, it's creation." I've always loved that line.
I’m wearing a shirt that says this right now. Lol I love this song!
Same here ! So profound when you think about it !!
I don't even understand that line 😂
@@tiaracatra834 tldr war is destruction, so the opposite of war isn’t peace (or lack of war) but creation (building up, becoming something new). There’s probably other interpretations but that’s the most literally.
Cause nothing scream "the opposite of war" like creating a nuke
I loved how the producers got the original cast of RENT to play their characters in the movie. This movie is so good and is so slept on compared to all other on stage to theater movie releases
I ignored it for over a decade and watched it to prepare to see the 20th anniversary tour. I never imagined myself being a Rent Head
Except for Mimi. 😊 I love R.D. Portrayal of Mimi better though. It feels awful to say.
I am Mark at the end, everyone around me is making out and I'm just dancing my heart out alone.
That's literally what I said when I said that I was Mark.
Adrian Aldridge mark is always a mood
All in all, that's a pretty good place to be brother. Peace and love and health to you from this terrible future.
Least I’m not alone 😂
@@robloxnerd8510 hey me too
"To being an US for once, instead of a THEM!! "
la vie bohemmmmmmmeeeeee
chills
I love that dance that Angel and Mimi do after their lines together ♥️ also Mark at the end when everyone is kissing or being romantic is awesome :) and Roger needs to learn something else other then Musetta’s Waltz
They were getting down!!!
Musetta's Waltz is sort of a motif for Roger. He had to work it into the song he wrote.
SAME
Yeah doesn’t musettas waltz also show up in light my candle and another day?
Musetta's Waltz is referenced several times, as an acknowledgement of the source material (La Bohème).
That moment when you realize that you're totally Mark :D
OMG I seriously, literally just said that!!! But I've known that for a while.
He’s literally the single cinnamon roll of this musical
Single Pringle like me. And I think me and mark wanna keep it that way now (;
The drama club at Applebee’s after closing night:
Don’t you mean Apple’s and Bees. I was referencing The Prom
Fancy high school you went to! We went to Denny’s.
@@joed180 haha, Applebee’s was just so close to our high school 😂
I'm one of those people who don't even know half of the references mentioned in this song but I'm still jamming to it
Me too, but I eventually looked them up to broaden my mind. I appreciate the song for that.
"Anyone out of the mainstream, is anyone in the mainstream?" I've always loved the way Anthony Rapp sings this line especially, and the message behind it. Good song in general but I like how that like sort of brings into focus the issue with it, which is a sort of otherist hypocrisy.
"to being an us for once, instead of a THEM!"
MY FAVORITE PART !
So that’s
5 miso soup
4 seaweed salad
3 soy burger dinner
2 tofu dog platter
And 1 pasta with meatless balls
Roger: Ew
Collins: It tastes the same.
Mimi: If you close your eyes.
And 13 orders of fries, is that it here?
Literally everyone: WINE AND BEER!
I want it all!
also, meatless balls probably don't taste the same, but that's great! doesn't need to taste exactly like meatballs
Pretty sure thats what they give us in the HS cafeteria. Stg those things taste like water
Anyone else just love listening to this on repeat?
Dark Rose literally all ive been doing the past week
Isabella, I listened to the entire musical on repeat for an entire week last week, lol
How could u not!?
That’s what I’m doing
Yes
1. This is my favourite song of the entire musical
2. I've literally watched the movie 28 times and the play about 16 times
3. Roger needs to learn something other than Musettas waltz
All of those also my mom showed me this dvd and cats when I was three
Roger needs to learn something other than musettas waltz
Lol
And ever since, Viva La Vie Boheme has been my life motto
I eat ass

That's Queen Elsa everybody...
Benny's headdroop at 2:54 gets me every time
"Hey mister, shes my sister" Best moment

Thank you SO much for this. Although it is the movie version, it's so good to finally hear both parts of this in one continuous song. A Broadway version of this would literally be the best thing in the world.
I know this comment is 6 months old, but request granted :) Here's the Original Broadway Cast version combined: ua-cam.com/video/qlWDOzHtB9w/v-deo.html
I've also combined the Broadway version of Seasons of Love if you wanna check that out as well :)
It wouldn't be the same
This isn't the entire song it starts at "Who died?"
Yea
True
Benny: Our little Akita.
Roger & Angel: Aveeta!?
ACT UP FIGHT AIDS!!!!
My favorite person in the movie is Angel but I really love the way Mark dances in this scene. Also Wine and Beer.
This film had such a strong effect on me 10-11 years ago.
Rosario is the perfect Mimi for me

4:04 angel and collins 😂😂
Benny at 2:56. "Yeah, that was pretty funny."
I love in the play, not show much in the movie, that he has a revelation that he “sold out.” (IMO) I always thought he only married the “daughter of the Revolution” because it was a means to help his boys out “I’ll get this money and come back for y’all.” But it came with the price of gentrification, and as much as he tried to bargain with Roger and Mark, taking care of them still meant destroying Alphabet City. I also don’t think he left his wife for Mimi to get back with Mimi but to watch Over her as much as he could before she relapsed after Roger lost trust and broke up with her without proof she was cheating on him.
"Bro i just want to have dinner, what the hell is going on"
LOL
You can have dinner and a show lol
"The opposite of war isn't peace it's creation.." last line 2020
God this looks like so much fun.
I was first exposed to Rent 18 years ago through the movie. I regret as a very young New Yorker during the 90's, I didn't take the opportunity to see the live Broadway show first. Anyway, the movie had such a deep impression on me, I made up for it by finally seeing the Broadway show. Afterwards I even went to the real life Life Cafe in Alphabet City neighborhood in Manhattan - the very inspiration for the one in the Rent musical. I purposely did it around Christmas time too and I remember ordering huevos rancheros 😂 Of course the real Life Cafe was kinda cozy, so this whole big song and dance thing would have been hard to do in real life. But hey, it was an honor to eat there. It closed down 11 year ago. End of an era.
No one has said it to you here, but that is amazing.
Angel Is a fucking savage
Mark is me. Just having the time of my life by myself and ignoring everyone around me lol!
Watch this in 2018! 😩
I am Japanese
Because I'm talking with a translator, I might change
I like this very much
I think that it is a good song to listen again and again
I'm from Brasil, and I agree with you. I listem this everyday Hahaha
Am I the only one who prefers the music of the movie rather than the actual OBC XD
Thats Amore for me it depends of the song but for this song i think the movie version is a lot more powerful and i personally like this version better
No
The movie music sounds better
the movie version definitely has more color and texture, whereas the broadway version has more segments and variety between the characters
The soundtrack was able to utilize more musicians than the original Broadway show...I believe a total of nine to eleven musicians played on the soundtrack as opposed to the small five piece band in the Broadway show..
god this song is SUCH an affirmation of life!
Love this musical and was lucky enough to see it live.
I am seriously disappointed with how they filmed the end of this number. The stage version ended it with a riot! For God's sake, Mark even recited the shots for the director to use! "The Christmas tree goes up in flames, the snow dances, Roger and Mimi share a small, lovely kiss." Why didn't they film that instead of ending on that seriously anti-climactic shot?
It's a shame, you didn't include Benny's part. I love it, it's a great intro to this song.
My grandfather couldn't believe 0:43.
When Maureen mooned Benny?
For some odd reason I love singing the lyrics of Mark's part of this song.
2:34 my fav part
I can say right now that i am probably the worst aunt in the world.
I love this movie with my whole heart and i literally played my dvd about 12 times a day.
My niece was about 4 years old when this movie came out and she started watching it with.
Well the worst time she could have asked me to play was when MY GRANDMOTHER was around and she NEVER called it RENT...
this is how she would ask me to play it...
Imagine a SQUEAKY, HIGH PITCHED 4 YEAR SCREAMING just about as LOUD as she could....
TEETEE... CAN WE WATCH "MUCHO MASTERBATION?!"
Outta EVERYTHING she could have REMEMBERED in this DAMN MOVIE..... SHE PICKS THOSE TWO WORDS!!!!!
So now imagine a GROWN ASS WOMAN trying to EXPLAIN to HER GRANDMOTHER what that meant!!! That it was the lyrics in a song, WHICH MIGHT ADD didn't make the explanation any better because she came back with "why would you let a 4 YEAR old watch something with something like that in it?!"
So I just shut up, out the movie on and sat down.
Can't believe my grandmother actually likes it and ever since then the running joke in MY HOUSE mind you wasn't "hey let watch RENT!" It was "HEY PLAY the "MUCHO MASTERBATION" movie!!!!!!!!!"
Anthony Rapp is incredible!
Definitely extraordinary!
Mark is livin his best life dude, also Roger needs to learn something other than Musetta's waltz

As I am a fan of craft beer, I've always loved the line, and sing loud.....2:32......"To hand-crafted beers, made in local breweries!!"
@5:20 one of the most defining moments of this show. I played drums for it back in 2011, and have been eager to do it again. Such a fun show, with such amazing music.
First half of song is just so much FUN…
Why is Mimi complaining about being ignored? She's acknowledged just about as much as everyone else! Or is she just talking about Roger ignoring her?
Ally Ball she's talking about Roger.
Ally Ball rodger.
Roger :)
You're doing God's work
Anthony Rapp’s breath control is out of this world
This is a good song❤❤❤
Still watching 2023 ❤
Same here.
2024 for me
This is a perfect adaptation of the song! Many details are exactly the same and many other details are perfecly adapted for the lower limits of the film. For example, on the stage they sit on one side(because of visibility limits) and on the film they sit on both sides and it is a perfect change, it makes the scene more realistic.
I completely died after 2:52 😂😂😂
I have never related to a character in a musical so much...
@0:42 Gorgeous 😍😍😍
I really want to dance on a table right now.
Thank you the uploader for combining both parts

finally. thank you for your service.
This needs more likes! This is my favorite song in the movie

My friends and I are doing this for a talent show, have you done a combined Lyric vid for this?
Nope, tho I might be able to make one like the other music edits if I have time. When do you need it?
Before February, if you can!
That’s doable. Thought you needed it in a few weeks 😄. Just to be sure, is there anything you want (or don’t want) included in the lyric video?
Nope! Just the combined version of the song with lyrics.

Even if most of the cast had aged out of their respective roles, you have got to at least watch the movie for the music! Lin Manual Miranda’s own creations wouldn’t partially exist without Rent! I can’t believe it took me until after Frozen launched Idina to international stardom to stream this.
I never got why she said “hey mister, she’s my sister” still don’t
J crazy joe wrestling bro i have got too. Rebuy this movie on. D. V. D. J
Anyone also wondering about what’s going on around 6:32? Rosario Dawson seems annoyed at the random cast member beside her 🤔😄

Idk but I'm getting the mood where some bullies tried to attack those theatre kids who are sitting in one table but then theatre kids became badass singing this song...tables turned and they owned the cafeteria as their stage lmao
There's too many lines that are" my favorite!"
The one I'm going to highlight today, It always seems to be bopping around in my. "Sodomy is between God and me to S&M"
As I get a little older and I understand what S&M is and live it a little more they are right , it's only about you the other person and god is the only people that's between.
What a lovely line.
But you could take every line in this song and digest it like that.
As much as I hate the show, gotta admit the music is great
Why do you hate it?
i'd like to know that too lmao
@@feya1621 ok so hate is a strong word, however I do have several issues with the show, such as the only bi women being portrayed as gaslighting and very promiscuous, the romanticization of poverty- seeing as everyone but like angel and Tom? I think his name is? Could have very cushy lives if they want but they choose not to because “art.” The fact that Rodger is trying to get clean but Mimi keeps trying to get him to do crack, and she’s viewed in the positive by the movie. There’s a few others, but it’s been a long time since I’ve seen the movie.
@@BirdPeopleArentReal i see, valid points. i don't really feel like maureen being bi was the reason for her flaws but then again i'm a lesbian so i guess it's not really my place to say? since i'm not as familiar with bi stereotypes or whatever
also i don't remember mimi trying to make roger do drugs and her character doesn't really feel viewed as positive (hence in the movie at least a bunch of scenes where she's shaking and crying her eyes out and arguing with ppl and all that) but maybe i missed it :0 it's interesting to see different perspectives though)
I’m not a huge Rent Head but the music is some of the most emotionally energetic songs ever written for the stage
Good luck boomers !
