Thomas Choe I cried, and I'm far from a puss. I'm a soldier in the US. Army. I'm just a very dedicated Red Wings fan. I get teary after each win. I'm emotionally attached to the Wings. I find myself to be most happy at or watching a game. Whenever I'm feeling down, I simply watch recaps on UA-cam and everything seems to be alright again. My happy place was the Joe... Now it's Little Ceasers Arena.
God I’m gonna miss this building. Cried like a baby watching it on TV, would’ve sold my soul to be there that night. No building will ever compare to The Joe.
I went to this game, and it was absolutely the biggest party atmosphere at any regular season game I've ever attended! All 20,000 of us had the time of our lives!
Detroit has the biggest bandwagon in the NHL; all their games are home games yet they still fail to win the Stanley Cup (let alone make the playoffs) with the most expensive payroll in the NHL and all they have to show is a bunch of underachievers in their roster
Hugh Jass, We used to be amazing, however you’re correct about our roster. Our players aren’t nearly good as they’re hyped up to be. The fact that they haven’t gotten rid of Blashill, or Holland for that matter as well is ridiculous to me.
@@hughjass8383 they made the playoffs 25 straight years and we probably have more cups than ur team. after making the playoffs 25 straight years ur team at one point becomes trash and as of right now we are rebuilding
you know, it's really sad to see the Joe go. but we had some really good memories there. 3 stanley cups, a few president's trophies, several hall of famers, last team to repeat in the modern era. one hell of a legacy. time to create an even better legacy at the new arena. LGRW!
Zoom Zombie it will eventually. It only did that game because it was the last game there. Just about every other game that season there was no energy at all lol.
I'm not a Red Wings fan, but even I started to tear up as Mickey did when they started playing Auld Lang Syne. Buildings carry memories, and buildings like these carry some of the best memories of all. Even four years out from this final game, the 'Joe is greatly missed.
I moved to Michigan in 2018 and missed this by a year. How sad that these good ol'fashion arena's have to close. So much tradition, so much history. Would have loved to have been. Those of you who have the memories, be sure to cherish them!
I’m a big Devils fan here, and of course they lost this game, but still, this gives me chills and makes me wish we could’ve had a proper last game at the Continental Arena
man mickey wanted to hear journey so bad and they screwed it up so bad by playing dj khaled at the end and journey at the end of the ceremony and it wasnt the same.
Coming back to this as the Wings try to crawl their way back little by little. Hoping the great fans of Detroit have a team to root for again. Nothing but respect from a Columbus fan.
Thanks for making my suggestion into a video. I appreciate it a ton. Everything you have done this season. I'm hoping for a better 17/18, and I am confident in it. Thanks for everything this season, Awood40
Besides le centre belle, this is the greatest arena I’ve EVER had the unbelievable opportunity to see a sports event in. Unimaginably fun, ungodly loud, it is EVERYTHING I love about hockey
Wish my life had allowed more time to watch hockey, even if the Wings aren't quite as fun to watch lately. I feel weird about not watching this game...
I think it was grandfathered in since it was so old but it put out potentially toxic gases or something so they couldn't use it in the new arena, I think some workers also said it was a fire hazard
They tried to move it to the new arena, but it got damaged. The one they use is literally just a recording of this horn, which sucks. Nothing like the real thing.
All the NBC announcers and Barry Melrose always pick Detroit to win the cup and guess what happens every year: NO CUP, LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope they keep the same horn in LCA... I hope the keep Hey Hey Hockeytown for their goal song I hope they keep don't stop belevin' at every game I hope they keep all I do is win, we they win
Hey Hey Hockeytown is still there. A weak, muted mp3 recording of the Joe Louis Arena goal horn is being used, but as I understand, it won't be on a permanent basis.
The Buell-Reed goal horns are gone Hockeytown is gone The bouncy back boards are gone $10 parking at Cobo is gone The 71 banners from JLA are gone This is now the Chris Ilitch/Tom Wilson Era. We have no say. We either learn to live with it, or we leave. I'm ready to head for the exits myself...

I'm a Sharks fan but one of my biggest regrets is not attending at least 1 game at the joe. Which hurts even more now that the red wings are my second favorite team in the nhl
Do you get the games on your TV and have DVR functionality? That's the first step. Wasn't there somebody who did Penguins highlights in the past? Many years ago I remember searching for highlights from the '08 and '09 Playoffs and seeing some Penguin channels pop up.
I remember when they had the last game at Tiger stadium they moved home plate to the new park. Did they do anything similar with the nets or something similar after the game?

I love that Zetterberg tried to skate with the team in the salute and Kronwall pushed him out front with his stick.
Detroit is the best market in the NHL. It's called Hockeytown for a reason.

4 Stanley Cups
ReTuRneD1 yeah, I just realized that.
ReTuRneD1 three were at the joe
No, 4 while we were at the Joe. 1997, 1998, 2002, and 2008. But if you're counting how many we've won on home ice, then 2. 1997 and 2002.
Had to go back and re-watch Sweet Caroline 10 times. Every time it gave me chills. I hope that energy transfers to LCA.
