This movie showed us the full range of kelly prestons talents. She left acting about 20 years ago but she was that rare actress who commanded every scene she was in
“For The Love Of The Game” is the only baseball movie where the love story part was not a second thought only inserted to get women to watch. The relationship is integrated into the baseball story. In this instance one cannot have one without the other. The BEST baseball movie ever.
Still my favorite baseball movie of all time. Yes, I love Bull Durham, and The Natural, and Field of Dreams, too -- but this movie and its portrayal of one meaningless game for one awful team at the end of a season says so many things about why we love this game. The cat and mouse of a big AB; the excitement that can come with each and every single pitch in a tense situation; the drama between players who have managed to get to the top of a sport everyone one of us played at some point growing up. Yes, we've all likely felt that feeling John C. Reilly articulated so well here: “'Cause Billy, we don’t stink right now!” What a glorious feeling in a glorious sport.
I know this is dumb, but I just watched this movie again for about the 10th time, in tribute to Ms Preston. The entire time I was thinking of her and her family and crying often. This is one of my favorite movies, along with fried green tomatoes, probably for much the same reasons. Rest in peace Ms. Preston.
I'm a big movie buff, but for some reason, I never knew of this flick. Just watched it. Then watched 2 more times. Loved it. Yea, I know they didn't really play baseball. But for this 60 yr old baseball fan, I really enjoyed it. It's a Hollywood movie, a fable. And for this old softy, a great romantic ending. Costner is always great. Never saw a Preston movie before, but she ROCKS!
The greatest baseball movie of all time it had everything you wanted in a movie and more drama love suspense excitement Kelly was such a great actor and Kevin was great as always great movie
Such a powerful scene.. after he set the phone down all the emotion comes crashing down.. walking away from a career of all he knows.. he has a fantastic night with an amazing achievement, yet it all means nothing because the woman that he loves isn’t there.
The final scene was the most beautiful heartfelt scene I have ever seen rip Kelly u were a fantastic and very very beautiful Actress ur life was cut way to short
This scene puts things in perspective. You can accomplish a great thing in life but if there is no one in your life with you; it is just a big empty feeling!!
I can relate to this so much. I lost my beautiful wife 2 1/2 years ago to cancer after 32 years of marriage. I am still taking care of my mother-in-law who is 92 and it's amazing how she continues even after the grief and after losing her oldest child. I look forward to seeing her in the resurrection of John 5:28, 29.
@@Coco-qz7fn if you think that's funny you're not a person who's capable of knowing what's advice & what's not. "Liberals & feminists"? What a stupid comment. If you're opinion is there aren't Republicans and men who feel the same? You don't think! My final comments on the subject.
When the film first came out It made cry for the baseball part of the movie. Having been a college baseball pitcher. This time I cried because of the love scene that I want for me. My wife and I are split up right now. But also because of the beautiful actress Kelly Preston having passed away. RIP Kelly.
All the comments are about Kelly Preston, and she's great in this movie. But I really like Kevin Costner at 3:56, where he acts like someone who has nearly thrown his arm off the night before. This is a great movie. Cheers.
0:34-1:14 presumably presumably Kevin Costner's real reaction 2 when Kelly Preston passed away, still in shock over her loss yet what a wonderful actress she was and always will be.
Great movie about baseball with two great performances by kevin costner and the late kelly preston r I p I always like her as an actress and as woman she was a classy lady
This was so sad to watch it was bringing tears to my eyes.your so damm good actor in what u do.well dun Kevin I bow my head just because because urr so damm good in all u tutch.❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😊😊😊😊
Un día yo perdí a mi mitad de mi vida i uno lo sabe xq pueden venir otras personas a tu vida pero solo una marca tu corazón ❤😢💔ahora está así i creo para siempre
Such a great actress and unquestionably beautiful even as she got older. Kelly appeared in the last few episodes of CSI Cyber Season 2 which was foolishly cancelled by CBS after that. She played a former Secret Service agent who was about to get into a serious relationship with Ted Danson's character. The chemistry between them was definitely there but, alas, we never got to find out how it would have gone.
Kelly Preston was beautiful and a good actress. My favorite movies of hers was Twins and Jack Frost with Michael Keaton and Space Camp and Old Dogs with Robin Williams
Another one gone too soon. I started watching some of her movies since her passing, some that I'd never seen before. She was excellent portraying John Gotti's wife Victoria in "Gotti" alongside her husband John Travolta in the title role. He was excellent also. BREAST CANCER AWARENESS is vital.
What is so cool about this movie is if Jane had not told him she was leaving , he would not have been “ in the zone” during the game, the perfect game would never have happened and Billy would not have figured out was truly important to him - how he truly felt
Never understood something. Her actions and words and his are to give the impression she is catching a different flight than his. Why wouldn't they be taking the same flight? Am I understanding wrong?
The main reason that Billy Chapel was really upset was because his best friend, and personal Catcher, Crash Davis, had retired a few years prior, and didn’t catch his perfect game.
May she rest in peace, but what a gem she was.
She was just in love 🔮
i think she was ill during this filming but it was not terminal at that time
Just had an amazing cry. Field of Dreams,
For Love of the Game. The amazing friendships, the beauty of love of Kelly Preston. RIP.
Man I miss her. Loved that movie and many of the other ones she did. So beautiful and talented. RIP Kelly.😢
As they say, success is nothing unless you have someone you love to share it with.
So much majesty in this movie
Kelly was the best thing about this film. So lovely. So elegant. RIP 😔😔😔😔😔😔😔😔

This is straight facts!! The love for this woman and the love for the game are directly related. So beautiful.
Very well said
Yes. I loved playing baseball and this movie always reminds me why I love the game.
Just like Al and Peg
True.

Kelly Preston is one of those women that is so beautiful, her eyes, her look, her face, she was so gorgeous. RIP Kelly, my platonic love
Well said
One of the best looking women in Hollywood
Yes her eyes , i could tell it was her by them , and her Daughter has the same eyers as her beautiful Mother .
@@katiedeluise2345 I think her daughter has her dad’s eyes.
I’m stunned! We just saw this movie, she was fantastic!
She was excellent alongside her actor husband in "Gotti" also.
Fell in love with her ...this movie.
Gone too soon, We still can't accept it....
Kelly Preston, the gift from God he took back too soon. When I see this movie as I flip through the channels, I have to watch it.
She was so sweet and beautiful! May she rest in Peace.

I think he did play it he said for love of the game perfect pitches in the 80s was hard and he was proud of it
He threw his pitches. He was player in his younger days. High school pitcher. Played some college ball.

The beginning of this scene, whether your career ended at 18 or 40, is something everyone who played and loved this game has experienced
This scene makes the movie complete. It’s perfect...
The final scene was the most beautiful heartfelt scene I have ever seen rip Kelly u were a fantastic and very very beautiful Actress ur life was cut way to short

I hope all of you in this comment section still loved and missed Kelly Preston, especially me... Remember guys everyone has own ending in our lives...
Her reaction to him saying he was on his way to England at 3:33 was so wonderfull.

The best movie Kevin ever did! When I watch Yellowstone I miss his emotions in this movie and dancing with wolves 😂
I turned my big bro onto this movie. He loved it too. Rip Danny.
Billy has every right to let the emotions out after nearly 20 years in the Majors. Good news is he got Jane at the end!
So did Tarzan.
yeah reminds me of how Mariano let his emotions out after 19 season all as a Yankee.
Every damn movie I fall in love with Kevin Costner all over again.
Your in a better place kelly,
Some day hopefully we be there too.❤
