Say today you get to live like a king in a palace of your choice for a day, the only catch would be you'd have to ponder over some decisions that he might have to take over that while. Now the king says he is unhappy and is glad he got a day off and you'd be thinking to yourself, if only you could be a king and would nevertheless be grateful. Think of life as your only chance in a sea of infinite possibilities, unhappiness is not something you'd associate with that opportunity. So nevertheless feel grateful.
_Notting Hill_ is one of my all time favourite films and of the late 90s. It shows that some famous people want to love people who aren’t rich or famous like they are, just normal individuals who work, live normal lives and have better personalities and a heart. Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts were brilliant together as William and Anna.
This film has been with me my entire life :) So beautiful! What can I say… The creators - and of course the two incredible actors (and thanks to everyone else as well) have managed to show in such a wonderful way that love knows no boundaries! When it happens, it just happens. No one can resist it! And that’s how it is in real life too!
I was young when i watched this. Really liked it but didn’t quite notice all the delicate intricacies. The dinner scene where she met his family was really, really well done.
@@lucrece4836 wow that sucks for you! go feel some sunlight and touch some grass to dissipate the misery that drove you to jump out of the primordial swamp to comment on people's joy over a nice movie. keep the depression to yourself and get a life.
Love the part when Hugh Grant comments on Topol & Ringo 😂 Hahaha & Dylan Moran (from Black Books) is just hilarious! When he asks Julia "What does it say....?" 😂😂.. I had no idea he was in this movie! Hadn't watched Black Books yet when this came out! The 'Black Books' series is one of the best comedies I've ever seen! 😊

I'm not positive, but I think the most time you can use a copyrighted movie is 10 minutes. If Julia had come back to the shop and kissed Hugh, the time would be over the 10 minute limit, the Copyright Police would have a fit and bedlam would ensue.

Well, other actors said it was difficult to work with Julia. She can be a real pranker and make them feeling not at ease at all. There is chemistry between actors or there is not. If there is not, talent will provide...
I suspected something like that was going on with Julia. In my extras section of my DVD of Notting Hill, Hugh Grant had his own video camera on the set where he was videoing anyone and everyone, but there is not a single shot or interaction with Julia. That speaks volumes. These things happen in real life, sometimes so you just have to make the best of it.
The problem with movies like this one is they convinced generations of men that if they are bumbling doofus, somehow this was will be perceived as "genuine" or "cute" and will attract a women like this
Here I have no girlfriend, no lover, no wife in my life. Because seeing that I am short and less fertile, no woman wants me. Due to this I am facing many problems in my life.💔

Only after 25 years I ask myself: how can Hugh Grant's character afford such a flat, with his job, in Notting Hill?! 😅 I mean, Spike is not bringing the tons of money, is he? 😅
It's 1999. Hugh Grant is 39. His character could have owned the property for a few years. In 1993 the UK property market was on its knees, full of repossessions, and interest rates were historically low in the wake of UK leaving the ERM. So it's plausible if you assume the purchase happened around that time. Prices started to rise in the mid 90s but remained vaguely affordable for a few years.
One thing about the movie. I spent most of my life living in Europe, and there is always a bathroom near the front door. I have never heard of the only bathroom on the top floor. Just saying.....loved the movie.
If in the UK, the Netherlands, Ireland or Germany, there is not very often a bathroom near the front door. The upstairs one is very common indeed. There may be an additional one downstairs (cloak room) but I can't think of a single house where it was near the front door.

Is there a book store?
Is the blue door travel bookshop still there?
Bet it’s gone up in value now 😊
How far from the bookshop…….”Give it to me in yards”

I have stopped counting how many times I have watched this move and movie clips on youtube. Great Movie.
