just a observation. the build point of shipyard left after building a ship go to the next one. a 2 turn ship may be build in one turn that way. you still can only build one ship per turn.
For the single fighter that took out your capital ship and that had a lot of kinetic attack, it's probably due to the military starbases that were around. Military starbases increases the attack and defense of a civilization ships in their sphere of influence. Also, maybe that civ had the vigilant trait which gets further military bonuses from starbases (and in this case not just military starbases). Using military starbases in a both a defensive AND offensive manner is a viable way to play the military game ( at least it was the case for galciv3 though not many players used that fact).
It's not from the Civilization franchise if that's what you mean. If anything, it's descended from Star Control I & II. Civilization has had two space-themed games (Alpha Centauri and Beyond Earth) as well as a space-themed mode for Civilization II: Test of Time, but they all took place on a single planet (or three planets in the case of the Civ II variant), and didn't involve an entire galaxy like Galactic Civilizations.
I see Potato is employing the Japan pre World War II strategy.

Never fear strange loud sounds, Civ 6 still can't turn down the maxed out volume of it's starting logos after 8 years.
No kidding! If I'm tabbed out it always scares the hell out of me!
