What are your thoughts on the Huda Beauty Icy Nude palette if you have tried it?, i believe about the same price but more shades 😊 This one i'm gonna skip 😂
Thank you for the honest review, it was done with care and attention. And for saving me money on the ND Xenon- I was very close to buying that one but I have the gray Colourpop one and it pulls very gray on me even though I have cool olive skin
Hi! Wow, am I sad! I'll try this expensive palette that arrived today, but I'm not very hopeful. But thank you for your honesty, we need that! See you next time!
Thank you so much for this, Jessica! I haven’t purchased anything whatsoever from Mario and have kind of started Wondering if I’m missing out. Now I know I’m definitely not missing out on the eyeshadow palettes! Viseart has similar color stories to this, which are absolutely top quality! Do you have a review on the ABH fall romance palette? I’ve been eyeballing that one for a year and I’m kind of thinking about getting it in the Sephora sale. Was it you who said ABH rose metals is really good? What about cosmos?
Nope! Definitely not missing out 😆 You're right, Viseart is waaaay better. I do have a review on the ABH Fall Romance palette here: ua-cam.com/video/57qrtnFXQ9k/v-deo.html and I do NOT love it but I DO love both the Cosmos and Rose Metals palettes! Both of those are gorgeous!
@@redgirlreviews thank you, I’ll check out those reviews of ABH. I adore the nouveau palette and might want to add another color story of theirs to my collection!
Shoot I was in a hurry when I made this video so I didn't take note but I think I remember trying to get something really cool so I think I used a base of L'Oreal Colourriche 975 Lilac Impulse (discontinued, I had to pay like $20 for it on Amazon but I freaking love it, makes a fantastic cool cream blush too) and I think I glossed over it with Essence Meta Glow in 03 Pink Fusion. Holy cow, I just looked and it's gone on Amazon and there are only 2 on Ebay one for $45 and the other $69! Dang! Seriously l'oreal needs to bring this color back!
Definitely appreciate this review, as I love the color story and really want to support mainstreaming cool palettes in general, cause I’m worn out with warm-only eye products in particular, but with so much competition for the eyeshadow dollar there’s no reason to be “meh” on $70+ with tax. I do end up reaching for his master mattes neutrals palette a fair bit just because it’s so versatile for everything from a basic eye look to liner to brows and it will never “offend” anyone in a corporate setting, but when I get to play I’m reaching for Viseart and ND (and indie brands next!).
Yeah his mattes formula is pretty solid for blending and neutrals so it's nice to have if you don't have anything else like that but do you need multiples of his palettes...ehhh probably not. I already reached for that black to line my eyes with another palette yesterday so I can see where this may be a base staple for me but I'm too drawn to 'special' shades/shimmers to want to invest in more from this brand I think.
I felt the same exact way about the palette except I was expecting a prettier blue. Mine is in the mail being returned as we speak. It's sad how other reviewers are singing it's praises when it's not all that (sorry Mario). I was almost thinking that perhaps I was the crazy one for not liking it or maybe doing something wrong. 😂 I really appreciate your honest review. ❤
Likewise! I appreciate all of your comments who tried it and were like wuuuut?? Is this even the same palette I'm seeing reviews of? I kept thinking OMG am I just doing something wrong?
I bought this. I like the colours and the blend ability of the mattes and i dont care about the fallout, i just tap my brush, but I agree with you about the shimmers. I don't think it's worth the money either. This is the first negative review I've seen. I don't get it. Why isn't anyone critiquing the shimmers. The gold one in the middle is quite nice but the others are not good for the money. Thank you for great review. Wish I'd have seen it before I purchased 😅 xxx
I agree the mattes are actually really nice for blending, very pretty but yeah, for the price you kinda expect to get some amazing special shades too. I keep wondering if I'm doing something wrong because I see so many positive reviews and some people seem to get those shimmers to work but I've worked myself into pretzels using all my tricks and I can't do it! Morgan Turner has some that look amazing and I can't figure it out! She does use low cool ring lighting though and I've noticed that seems to pick them up more however so I'm guessing that's it. My bright lighting probably blows it out a little...still no excuse when I can get all my other shimmer palette shades to show just fine in the same lighting. I guess you could still return it likely? 🤷
Unfortunately, I'm in the u.k. and you can only return unused makeup here. There's a lot of kick back in this pallette so it definitely looks used. I appreciate your honesty. I will check out Morgan Turner and try again with the shimmers. An expensive pallette should look good in most lights especially daylight 😂
@@sharonbrady4596 oh dang! I do still think if you just grab some shimmer toppers from another palette that this one still makes a nice base look with those lovely blendy mattes so not a total waste at all. ☺
I’ve run through 2 of the that’s taupe palettes from Color Pop. It’s a great palette. Maybe I’ll buy the quartz one next. I like how you put the shadow on with brushes and fingers. I’ve never been good at makeup and this technique has helped a lot. Great review! 😉
That is one of my all time favorites for sure! Not all Colourpop palettes have a great formula but that one definitely does. I used to work with a lot of pastels and mixed media (oils/charcoal/pencils/watercolor) when I was an artist so I am most comfortable using my fingers for blending, even more so than brushes but really I just get super disappointed when brushes don't give the shine/color payoff that a finger will!
I was waiting for your swatches! Usually a lot of product photos pull cooler than they actually are in real life. I hate to say it but I'm really loving the matte color story...
@@redgirlreviews It's so tempting! I've rarely seen matte palette that combine so many colors I actually want to wear. Usually it's like two with warms.
I used this palette last night. I have the same coloring as you. I tapped off my brush every time I dip in before putting it on the eye. The only fall out I had was from the glitter toppers, but I did use a eyeshadow primer. And I would agree with you these are not Pat McGrath style one swipe shimmer shadows. They are toppers with a ton of glitter particles and work better on top of a slightly darker color. As a fair red head, this palette is always going to give me a dramatic look so for me it is going out or special occasion palette.
I'm so glad this one is working out for you! It really is a beautiful color story for us redheads and the mattes are so blendy and beautiful. I am starting to wonder if maybe my eyelids are too dry for those shimmers to stick and sparkle...the swipe on my fingers better than applying to my eye as you can see in the video. I did try to nyx glitter glue but it still wasn't showing on my eyes. I'm going to keep trying to play with it since I'm keeping the palette and see if I can't get more what I was hoping for out of it.
Thank you so much for your honesty. Without the shimmers, this palette isn't worth it IMHO. I ordered it but will return to Sephora unopened to avoid waste. I do have a great dupe recommendation (or rather, Mario's palette is the dupe because the one I'm recommending has been around since last year). It's the Doll Squad Palette 3.0 from Doll10. Gorgeous cool to neutral color story very similar to this one, doesn't have those sparkly shades but does have gorgeous metallics, it's talc free and made in Italy. It's $44 but they have sales quite frequently. It's a much better option I think.
That sounds great! I’m totally going to check that one out thanks for sharing! I’m right there with you…not spending $70 on a mostly mattes palette with 4 non existent shimmers 🙄
@@redgirlreviews Yes! Other reviews made the shimmers look lovely but you are right about the lights. Those shimmers will not look that good in daylight.
Between the ND, I need a nude , ND Xenon , with my Danessa Myricks shimmers. I am nearly covered . I am interested in the new Huda Beauty ICE palette. It's her last large palette release . I have only one Huda 9 pan palette. So I really dont have much experience with her formula . Also, try Cosmic Brushes / Beauty they have released a cool tone palette, and their formula is up there . If you love shimmer, the new Danessa Myricks lightwork looks amazing but super pricey . I would love the Amy adept palette.but the shipping to Australia is ridiculous. Ensleigh Reign cold moon Palette is another one .
Yes! I'm looking forward to trying the new Huda Ice palette since it looks perfect for my coloring! I'm a little nervous because I have not been impressed by her formula in the past. Pretty grunge was a powdery mess that kept falling back off my eyes and the colors muddied together into gray in about 2 seconds instead of staying true to their tones/colors...very unsatisfied with that one. I agree with you Cosmic Brushes is phenomenal. I just got their Undergrowth palette and it is one of my top faves for shimmers especially. I've hemmed and hawed over the DM lightwork one and ultimately decided to save my $ for more indie palettes and the Cold Moon palette is one of my top 10 palettes of all time. The shimmers are fantastic but a bit redundant but strangely the mattes are some of the best I've tried! Thanks for all the recommendations!
I LOVE the Huda formula, but of her big palettes, so I’m sad she’s not going to be doing them any more. Her 9 pan formula, IMHO isn’t bad, but it is nowhere near the quality of the big palettes. Her 9 pans are made in China and her big ones are made in Italy. And I’m not one of those people that automatically feel like “made in China” means bad quality. But, just like there can be not so good or bad formulas made in Italy or US, there can be not so good or bad formulas made in China and there can be good or great ones made in Italy or US just like there can be good or great ones made in China. To me, the Huda 9 pans are okay, but compared to the formula in her big palettes, it’s just no comparison! The big palettes, I barely have to do anything to blend them! They’re just so easy to do even a full glam eye look! It’s great! Unfortunately, most of her color stories haven’t been for me. Mercury Retrograde and Rose Quartz have been the only ones. But I’m definitely excited to see the Ice palette because it looks more cool toned, so I’ll need to see it to find out, but I’m hoping it is because I definitely want it if it is!!!!
@@onewhisper22005 That's interesting to hear because I only got 2 of her palettes, the Pretty Grunge one and one of the 9 pan nudes ones so I wonder if I just haven't experienced the best of her formulas yet. I've swatched Rose quartz many times and almost bought it but they were always out of stock so never ended up getting it but it looked sooo pretty. Pretty Grunge was just a grungy mess for me, super powdery and literally fell off my face while doing a look on camera...like no bright color pay off at all. It was wild. I was so confused because everyone said they loved her palettes and I was like what is this even??? Now I'm extra excited to try the new one! Thanks!
@onewhisper22005 I was actually looking to try and find out where her big palettes are made . This new Ice palette does look so nice , very cool toned . I have the ND Xenon and some Indy brands that give me my pinks, so I dont think I need it , but it does look so pretty . It might come down to a want purchase 🤔.
For that price it's a bit disappointing, i really liked the looks you created but like you said you could create that same look with other palettes, i like the color story but at the same time the colors don't look all that special. But i see you have another video on this palette, so maybe there's hope 😂
@@amyferguson8258 I've never been very impressed with the Urban Decay eyeshadows and especially now that there are so many other ones to choose from so I can't say I have any from them I'd recommend. I had the orginal Naked palette and basically it kind of hard panned quickly. I did like their color stories though. I'm still a nube to some of the classic brands like Mac so I can't recommend anything specific. Also, they really tend to mostly have their shadow pots that are the most popular rather than full palettes so I've just never been drawn to them. I know Jen Phelps uses the lightest taupe one as her shadow base so I've gone to swatch that before and the formula seems nice (nothing special though) but her base lid color is waaaay too dark for my lids unfortunately so I passed on it.
Dear Jessica, I recently purchased the Lamora Nude pallet during Amazon Prime Sale Days - haven't tried it yet. I personally don't have the life style or financial budget to purchase a lot of Makeup so I am very selective. I respect your honesty and alternatives. Thank you. Sent with tons love .
I think you'll really like that Lamora palette once you get into it! I was kind of flabbergasted when I tried it especially after trying high end ones like this for 7 times the price! The shimmer in that one is miles better than ANY of the shimmers in this Mario palette. I'm so glad I could be helpful!
I’m a very shimmery glam girl and I own and collect every Natasha Denona palette. For some reason I decided for the first time to buy a Mario palette, I started with his Neutral cool tones, I loved very much the formula and the colors so I decided to purchase also this Moon Ethereal palette, because I loved the color story, loved that blue, and I wanted to have an Ethereal subtle shimmery great quality look, with a touch of nice sparkle without covering the eyelid and very wearable during the day time, I found exactly what I was looking for with this palette, because is the first one I own that has the perfect day sparkle kind of natural look that I was looking for. Or for a Smokey eyes with just a touch of sparkle as an alternative to the heavy sparkle shimmering I always wear. That’s why for me this is a must have palette to have in addition to my super sparkling shimmering other palettes. But of course if someone wants a lot of covering shimmering sparkle palette, yes they should look for Natasha Denona in my opinion. Color Pop is the worst makeup I’ve ever tried in my life and I threw it all away in the garbage as soon as I looked myself with my magnifier mirror, because color pop makes pop out even the wrinkles that I don’t don’t have. At least this happens to me. Maybe is ok for 20 years old but I doubt even for them. After 20 years old I totally would stay away from Color Pop or other cheap kind of formulas. Plus imagine the terrible chemicals and talc they infuse in the cheapest makeup with. We already live in a very toxic world, sometimes you spend more just for a better quality (less toxic.) If you are into non-toxic stuff I would suggest everyone to buy Suzanne Somers products, even makes up, the best I have ever bought. (but not for shimmers, it doesn’t exist a toxic free very sparkling shimmer on the market 😉) PS You look stunning with that Mario Palette, that blue is really unique.
Thank you! Yes, I really felt torn on this one because I know so many people really enjoy the MM ethereal palettes and his formula. I mean he's not huge for no reason! 😅 I'm glad it really works for you and you will absolutely love having this new color story from him. Also, good for others reading the comments to see that my opinion is just one opinion and not shared by everyone so it might be a good buy for them. Honestly, like I mentioned in the video, those mattes are really beautiful and blend really well and that blue is stunning. Also, I agree with you on Colourpop...some palettes are absolute trash but some of the formulas they put out are pretty darn good in my opinion. I'm not sure what to think on the talc because I've heard a lot of conflicting info on that, mostly that it really depends where the talc was sourced from as to it being potentially cancerous. I've never heard of the Suzanne Somers line so I'll have to go check that out! Thanks for sharing!
@@redgirlreviews you are welcome! Yes that talc seems to be cancerous, but the chemicals petroleum they use even on “clean” products are scary. So now I buy any soap, deodorant, lotions, even toothpaste and make powers, foundations etc everything on Suzanne Somers website, she had breast cancer and because of that she researched for 25 years about health, cutting off more chemicals that she could, creating this incredible toxic free company that doesn’t use bad chemicals. She wrote 27 books with interviewing the best world doctors. That’s how she managed to stay alive for other 25 years after breast cancer, having a good quality long enough life. So I actually buy everything in her company, but I do of course some exceptions buying some great quality shimmering makeup like ND and Mario that I love too so much. The important is to cut off the most chemicals we can. I’m glad you are into all this things too 😊
Have you seen the new Huda Beauty pallet I don't remember the name of it, I'm not even sure if it's out yet but it looks more cool tone than her other pallets but it doesn't have that blue shade. I was trying to decide which one out of these two. I actually prefer matte shadows over shimmers. But some times I like a little shimmer.
I saw a covered pic of it and it looked like a cool nudish palette so I will likely check it out when it comes out. I'm not a huge fan of her eyeshadow formula but her shimmers are waaaay better for the price!
This palette caught my eye at first, but from swatches it looked like the sheer, sparkly topper type shades, which a lot of people love and I think they’d love this palette for that, but I’m just not a fan of those personally. I like metallic type shimmers. That wet look. So I knew this wasn’t for me! And it seems from your experience they’re not even all that sparkly as just a sheer topper kind of shade! So even people that like those kinds of shades might be disappointed by this
@@onewhisper22005 yep! The Moira single lucent shadows are better for that look. I’m also not a fan of the Urban Decay space cowboy because it’s too weak for me but it was wildly popular so I guess this is for those folks 🤷🏼♀️
@@redgirlreviewsexactly! The urban decay space cowboy wasn’t for me either! 😂 I have the UD Moondust palette from years ago with the colorful shimmers in it. I prefer those ones. They have more of that metallic look and are sparkly when I use them wet or with glitter glue, but even when I don’t I still get a good sparkle from them. I’m just more of an opaque, wet sparkle kind of person than a sheer glittery look! Like, I love a lot of K-beauty eyeshadows for their mattes - the cooler toned shades that they do so well and that work well on my fair skin. BUT, their shimmers aren’t for me because they’re the sheer, sparkly not opaque color. Just sparkle. And that’s just not for me. But other people love those sheer glittery shades and that’s okay! It’s great we have enough makeup for everyone to find stuff they love! I always appreciate your honesty in your reviews! And how you give other options as well! ❤❤
I was wondering about pigmentation and powery kick off Mario Ethereal Moonlight palette. That blue shade got me to look at the palette. I have the first Ethereal palette, I was excited about it because all the great reviews but I was disappointed with shade pigmentation and powery kick up. The shades just don't look like palette on my skin tone. I enjoy Natasha Denona pigmentation and not much kick up at all, smoothness of shadows. Thank you for your truthful review on this palette.
Did you get a dud palette? Because it doesn’t sound like the one I have at all! I go in. They’re good and I get zero fallout! The glitters are phenomenal, this is worth every penny in my opinion!
I have to say sometimes I wonder that too! You know, maybe it's just that I like to be more heavy handed with shadows and these kinds of shadows are harder for someone like me to use. I never know and it makes me a little nervous to share a negative review so the best I can do is show people how I'm applying them and the real life/time results of what is happening on my eyes so people can critique or give pointers if I'm just doing it wrong. I do think this one may come down to a preference thing so that's why I gave my positives and negatives. I still am befuddled by the glitters because I saw Morgan Turner (different lighting though) got phenomenal results with hers. I'm glad this one at least is working great for you and that you are loving it though! ☺
Would you recommend cold moon by ER over this palette? I love my shimmers but also my cool tones. I have plenty of grey blue palettes and cool neutrals.
ALL day every day! That is one of my fave palettes. The shimmers are insane and the mattes are the best I’ve ever used! Way more colors to choose from as well. It’s a big palette.
I really wanted this, I love cool tones. But I have of Quartz and Thats Taupe. This palette seemed messy for you. I wonder if you got a dud ? I guess the Huda Icy Nudes might be a better choice. Hope you review that one !
Yes! I kinda wondered that too but am guessing it's just a formula preference and I'm not a big fan. I'm waiting for the Huda one to come out in stores (obviously I'm not on any of these PR lists due to my mouth) 🤭 and I'm definitely planning on reviewing it as well. Looks like a pale girl paradise online though!
@@gwendolyncampbell7932 OMG yes, that's like a best of all worlds color story for us! Love that one, daytime to smokey neutrals and cool tones in every possible shade but yes, could use a little bit less dry and more shimmery of a formula.

This is the first Mario palette i was really considering getting but... i like my shimmers to shimmer. One as a topper, sure, but 4 that barely show in a 12 pan palette? Meh, nope.
Beautiful to look at in the Pan but most of the Shades lack quality n consistency throughout the palette.. I rather pay the Same price for a Nice quality quad n be Happy with the performance n finish of the shadows.. Love the Look you created but Girl you had to work extra hard to there!😊🧡✨
I am not really interested in this palette- i like the taupes but i think lots of other palettes have great taupes/natural shades. I also don't really like that dark shade of blue, i am very pale like you and i don't think it would suit me, and i like palettes that are easy to work with. For AU+$100 i want it to be effortless and for all the colours to work with me. I love blue eyeshadow, my favourite colour is blue, but i just don't lie the look of the navy in this... Blue Moon and So Elemental from colorpop are so much better, and cheaper.
Yep I think you kind of nailed it. If you like blue have you tried the Colourpop Baroque palette? Still the BEST flattering blues palette I've ever used. It's no longer available but you can find it on the secondary market (ebay, poshmark etc.) and it is my blues holy grail of shadows. Crazy fallout but the different tones of blues in that one are like no other I've ever found for natural blues that look fantastic on our skin tone and coloring.
@@redgirlreviews I haven't tried it. Will try and track it down. What do you think of Blue Moon and So Elemental? I've also noticed a lot of indie brands are doing great shades of blues as well...
@tessmcmurray578 I have t tried blue moon but I do have So Elemental and I think it’s a great formula but the blues are a little too primary for me so they end up a bit Barbie makeup blue on my skintone/hair coloring 😊
I just got the new Huda and am hoping to have a full review out by this weekend.so far the mattes seem beautiful and very smooth, most are variants of purples and yellowish beige, most not terribly cool toned, maker neutral to warm but still gorgeous, dry wearable I think and the shimmers from swatching are hit and miss. There’s one that seems like sandpaper like so bad I won’t put it on my eye and the others are extremely flaky squishy but pretty. Can’t wait to start trying some looks this week…
I'm sorry but most of these eyeshadow palettes that are coming out are giving me beginner drugstore eyeshadow with no pigment and have to actually build it all up lol You're pretty much just paying for the name of most of these products and not for the performance
It's hard to spend this kind of money after trying a lot of the indie palettes out there now 😁 Also, I did post Pretty grunge swatches next to the Icy Nudes in my Community tab since you were asking if they were basically the same...there's a LOT of similarities..

I gotta say if you are really most interested in the mattes, they really are so pretty so you might really like this palette!
@@redgirlreviews It's so tempting! I've rarely seen matte palette that combine so many colors I actually want to wear. Usually it's like two with warms.
@@leaflaurel omg so true! I do really love the mattes colors in this one, super wearable for us!

OMG I just went and looked at that Doll Squad palette...uhhh MMario totally copied it! That is a straight up dupe but MMario was the duper!
@@karlieneporter4939 yeah, they’re made in Italy. For me it’ll come down to a want purchase too. Definitely don’t need it! 😂
For that price it's a bit disappointing, i really liked the looks you created but like you said you could create that same look with other palettes, i like the color story but at the same time the colors don't look all that special. But i see you have another video on this palette, so maybe there's hope 😂
yeah it's just overall an unnecessary $70 for me I think...sigh.
Thank you ❤❤❤❤
You're welcome!😊
Are their any Charlotte Tilbury eyeshadow palettes that you like?
Unfortunately no. Almost no shimmer and color payoff, poor formula in my opinion but pretty color stories.
@@redgirlreviews - Are their any MAC & Urban Decay eyeshadows you recommend?
What is the lip products your wearing in this video! Stunning
Thanks! It's Lawless Forget the Filler in Lavender Sorbet.😊
Dear Jessica,
I recently purchased the Lamora Nude pallet during Amazon Prime Sale Days - haven't tried it yet.
@@redgirlreviews i hope you review it, I like to hear your opinion on it, her pallets are usually too dark & warm for me.
@@josiekoerner5345 yep as soon as it's in stores I'm gonna go swatch it and probably pick it up unless it's god awful just to swatch
@onewhisper22005 💯
Yep, I'd say this palette is exactly like his other palettes formula wise so if you prefer a ND formula, this is going to further disappoint you. 😆
@@redgirlreviews I would definitely contact the company because I had zero fallout and the glitters were amazing, one swipe and that’s all I need.

This is the first Mario palette i was really considering getting but... i like my shimmers to shimmer. One as a topper, sure, but 4 that barely show in a 12 pan palette? Meh, nope.
Yeah I just can't do it without stunning shimmers! 😢
Beautiful to look at in the Pan but most of the Shades lack quality n consistency throughout the palette.. I rather pay the Same price for a Nice quality quad n be Happy with the performance n finish of the shadows.. Love the Look you created but Girl you had to work extra hard to there!😊🧡✨
true that!
I was mildly interested in this until I saw the new Huda Icy release.
Can’t wait to start trying some looks this week…
return it. have seen bad reviews
Gotta say I'm tempted! I feel like I should keep it for future reviews and comparisons though...
Nope, just buy the Colourpop Stone Cold Fox pallet. More shades and good quality. And cheaper!
you really can get a lot of the same looks for so much less
I'm sorry but most of these eyeshadow palettes that are coming out are giving me beginner drugstore eyeshadow with no pigment and have to actually build it all up lol You're pretty much just paying for the name of most of these products and not for the performance
It's hard to spend this kind of money after trying a lot of the indie palettes out there now 😁 Also, I did post Pretty grunge swatches next to the Icy Nudes in my Community tab since you were asking if they were basically the same...there's a LOT of similarities..
