Jesus denounced Capernaum for rejecting him and not repenting. So, my belief is when Jesus asked Peter if the tax collectors of Capernaum tax their own or from others? It was implying His knowing that they didn't receive Him as their own.
I think something to consider is the possibility that Jesus could have miraculously brought into existence the coin that was in the mouth of the fish similarly to how he multiplied the bread and fish out of thin air for the 5,000. Just something I thought of and wanted to add here as a possibility as well because Jesus can do anything :)
That’s an interesting thought! Jesus multiplying the loaves and fish shows His power to create, so it’s possible He could have miraculously placed the coin in the fish’s mouth too. Either way, it demonstrates His sovereignty over all creation. God Bless.
I was wondering why the tax collector ask Matthew as he was a known tax collector in Capernaum. But regardless they asked Peter and it's also clear why Jesus asked Peter to fish, he was the son of Jonah. Matthew 16:17
I love the bible show so many elements and flavors and traditions bring the bible to life. Under the Hood is also outstanding
