3:15 What’s up wav man I recently seen another mixer say in a tutorial that cutting off low ends from the master bus from the 0-20 range that you took out will only cause phase issues. So is that true? He said it’s better to tame the low end in your beat and vocals separately vs putting on a eq on your master cutting at the 0-20 frequencies. It makes sense because not every song needs the bass or rumble cut out

Shouldn't be an issue if you use an EQ with a Linear Phase option. The slope of the HPF can affect phase as well, but a linear phase mode should straighten any issues out. I used to do straight "brickwall" cuts in Pro Q-3 on the master and my kicks/808s/bass but I could personally tell a negative difference in the sound (in linear mode) when using the brickwall mode. I usually won't go over a 48 dB/oct curve now but it really just depends on your EQ plugin haha

It's also about the plugin being used. Use linear phase eqs to counter that. However, daws being digital, you can't really escape it.

I agree we need that tutorial, but I’ll speak from assumption. I’m sure it sounds clear and not harsh because of the use of at least two main things, good compression, and a good de-esser which is what “fixes” the harshness in vocals. To sit in the mix you need to compress correctly.

How are you tracking the LUFS to make sure you meet the criteria for when uploading on UA-cam and Spotify etc ??

You can see it on the last limiter plugin he used,it’s on the right side.

🤔, PreMastering is fade-ins,fade-outs, trackmarkers, loudness limiting, metadata. In that order period !! Anything else you mixing. All that 💩 you doing is the mixing process.
NO EQ, NO COMPRESSION , that is applied in rhe mixing procedures., unless the mixing engineer is incompetent and you are trying to correct their errors, which you should not and just send the mix back for the mix engineer to correct.
MASTERING is the process done @ a record manufacturing plant.
The melody and harmony lives in range between 200 Hz-1k! This is the most important things about Music! In your case,i feel that it's somehow,,too much reduces! Be careful when cuting this range!

Appreciate the guide, it's always questionable what is supposed to be a good master tbh. So many variables and opinions. Sometimes mastering a track loses the tone of imperfections which can suck out the soul too also dependent on the genre, sometimes you want that haha
