Such an underrated track. When people think of bloc party they think helicopter, flux , banquet, hunting for witches. I think this might be the best one.
It's more poppy than those tracks with the exception of flux, but I kind of like it. Not as much as hunting for witches, ratchet, helicopter, banquet, the pioneers, two more years, or skeleton, but good nontheless. Bloc party is so good that even their not great songs are great
There is an amazing youtube comment i cant find anymore with a theory to the music video, so i'll try to recap from memory. Basically its understanding a subject matter each band member is not comfortable towards Matt: Understanding a Piano player from a drummers perspective Kele: Seeing an Older person trying to be young from a young persons perspective Russell: Seeing someone who expresses themselves with confidence, from a perspective from someone who's shy Gordon: Seeing the spiritual side of a believer from someone who's a skeptic of the paranormal
Not heard this in a few years, struck a sad feeling of nostalgia in me for better times. While being a dance song this is still strikingly beautiful. The Intimacy era Bloc Party has got to be one of the most underrated eras of any band ever.
Such a kick for me to see this video after all these years. I'm the father of the possessed teenager girl actor. My daughter was 16 at the time. My wife and I were able to be on set with the actors and band mates during the one day video shoot in Portland, Oregon. (USA) I, too, love this song. Just watched a live 2009 performance of the song as well. I'm not sure what's happened to band.
When Bloc Party get it right, they make sickeningly-good tracks like this one. Clever use of electronics and rhythmic patterns, executed to devastating effect!
The opening sequence and closing sequence is hilarious. I always thought the story line for the dude on the keyboard was he was an acid house/rave producer reliving his glory days. He is showing that he still has it even though the last rave he went to was 1995 and since then he has settled into a mundane job in finance to support his conservative family life and mortgage.
Man I love All of bloc parties albums with both new and old members. I would really like to get that dysfunctional group back together though. Even though the original sound of bloc party was quite different to what it became, what it became was still brilliant and there's just been nothing really like them.
ohh. it is just so cool, i love this song and the music video too i can't wait 'til Sziget Festival (Budapest) I will be there and i will be standing in the first row!
I saw some opinions that the lyrics and their meaning are pretty obvious and song gets repetitive really fast, but I think people are missing the point, or I am getting onto it too much. But I believe that message of this song is not exactly about broken boy beggin for one more chance but actually this is metacommentary about self deception. We sound like a broken record sometimes.
Once sung this song at a pizza parlor that had a karaoke night. A couple in their late 30s started grinding and bumping and making out really hard. It was just them dancing and me singing.
This song is literally crimally and fatally underrated
Spot on. Fuckin love it. Keep on coming back to it.
Facts
Dunno, this is far different from what I was looking for as a beginner with the band, may grow on me with time though
Nah it’s perfectly rated.
So is the video
Haven’t heard this in 3 or 4 years because it’s not on Spotify. Woke up with the chorus in my head today. 27 April 2024
It’s so annoying it’s not on Spotify, such a tune
Yea I dont think it’s anywhere..It pops into my head once a year or so and I end up back here hah

This is my fav song ever
indeed this one aged well
I think skeleton, all the Marshall's are dead, things like that.
This one always comes to mind when I think of the band. Probably because of the sheer amount of times I relistened to it compared to the others.
I hate that this song isn't on Spotify, one of Bloc Partys best songs, one of mine
now it is
@@nannekenreally?! I can’t find it
they took it down for some reason it was on there but now if you select it just skips the song entirely@@Stevenson14
@Nicholas-Stevens14 it's under singles rather than albums

2020, and still giving bloc party one more chance..
This bloc party at least
Me too in 2022.

Awesome to hear this!
Love to hear this! I love this band. One of my faves. Reminds me of being 19/20 in Hampshire UK.
They just got older! Think kele the singer wanted to try some solo stuff out
That's such a cool memory! Hope you're all doing well ☺️
they’re still together. their latest album
alpha games (2022) is incredible!
I think this was my first Bloc Party song. I've loved it for probably ten year now. It's completely unique.
It's always the best Bloc Party songs that aren't son Spotify... from "Another Weekend in the City" album to "Skeleton" to this
When Bloc Party get it right, they make sickeningly-good tracks like this one. Clever use of electronics and rhythmic patterns, executed to devastating effect!
Righty right
💯💯💯💯
I like how excited Matt is at the start.
My favorite band forever! Get it bloc party 2019!
MSEAD123 BLOC PARTY RULES!!!!!
Will always come back to this song. The songs just hit hard. Capturing the delusion of thinking things can be how they were when they can't.
Who is still here listening to this song in 2021?? Bloc party is the best band ever!
65 & still love bloc party.👍
My god this is a blast from the past, 2024 and this still sound's like perfection ❤
One of the best songs of all time!!
Thank you Bloc Party for being part of my childhood.
This isn’t even on Spotify. Luckily, it was stored in the back of my mind and I’m here listening to it again

That’s life
It's the drummers dad pushing keyboards on him, when what he wanted was drums. Probably the most successful relationship in the video though.
The video is something about the band mates individual deep fears
Best Bloc Party song not on streaming. Need that mp3 converter asap
