You have to remember that due to the massive air superiority of the Allies towards the end of World War II, Germany massively increased its ground defense capabilities, especially on the battlefield. At the end of the war, there were over 750,000 men in anti-aircraft units for air defense. And of course that also led to technical developments. The most modern was the twin-gun "Flakpanzer IV". This was built on the tried and tested chassis of the Panzer IV, but with a special turret equipped with two modified 30 mm Mk 108s. The Mk 108 was the standard gun for fighter pilots at the end of the war. A caliber that is still the standard on-board armament in today's combat aircraft. One hit from such a cannon could be enough to sweep a B-17 or B-24 out of the sky. The weapon was also very light and almost recoilless, as is required for a fighter aircraft. I'm attaching a short video of the British conducting firing tests with this weapon so that you can get an idea of the weapon's effectiveness in 1945... ua-cam.com/video/91LUxqn1QY0/v-deo.html
You missed the fact, that at the end of the cannons there are magnetic coils, that tell the projectile at what height and distance to explode. The projectiles are often shrapnell ones, so that the target will be hit nearly to 100%.
Ukraine got in sum roundabout 100 Gepard. That's why it's called in teh title "against russian drones". The problem with the ammunition has solved. It was difficult to get new ammunition, because the only producer was Oerlikon in Switzerland. And Switzerland, due its neutral position, rejected to deliver in warzones. So it was searched worldwide for ammunition. As far as I know: the first try to replicate the ammunition went wrong. But finally Rheinmetall (a german manufacturer of defense products) made it. One shot costs 560€ (590 US$).
I think that is in Romania, the soldiers wear the flag on their uniform and as far as i know no romanian soldiers are stationed in Germany.Nato holds maneuvers in Romania since several russian drones and planes entered romanian airspace since the beginning of the war...
The Gepard is no longer in use by the Bundeswehr since 201, all are sold or storage, a lot of the storage ones are delivered to Ukraine. Next AA-System in Bundeswehr use will be the Skyranger 30 A3. ua-cam.com/video/ye_8t0QpdHg/v-deo.html
Imagine would decide to revive the Gepard with modern tech. AI, LASER, better Ammo and so on. Oerlikon has something around the same league but not the same
Battle Order has made a good video about the armored forces of the Bundeswehr. However, the video is about the organization of the armored forces, so if you are not interested in that kind of thing, the video is less for you.
Ammunition is since over a year no problem anymore. Rheinmetall built an own factory for Gepard 35 ammunition in Germany. Also successors of the Gepard like the Skyranger use similar ammunition which will come from this factory.

560€? Seriously? Why? Is it this type of ammunition like what MANTIS uses or why?
The ammunition is programmable to explode in a predefined distance to the target.
