I had a half-moon conure (they were generally called miniature parrots back in the 60s), and she had about the same mimicking ability. Half moons don't have the capacity to enunciate words like Amazons, Macaws, or Mynahs, but they do love to mimic sounds, and they're very intelligent birds.
I purchased Frankie as a weaned baby and he was very tame. I have had to continue handling him to keep him from developing a biting habit. He does like to bite my ear when he's in my shoulder, and then he exclaims, "Ouch!" Frankie was already saying "Hello" and "Whatcha doin" when I got him as a baby. He has continued to pick up words and incredibly long phrases, which is quite remarkable for conures, supposedly. However, I had a HalfMoon 10 years ago that had nearly as good a vocabulary.
Back in 2005 or 2006 my half moon flew away 😕 ever since then I've been trying to find on me like her.... I have a green cheek conure but she's not as friendly as my half moon I had 💔 I'm working hard on socializing her but I just miss my half moon so much
Aww, I have a half moon conure as well. He says, "What'cha doin?" as well. He looks and sounds exactly the same and I would swear at some points that it was him! lol. But ours is a lot louder sometimes. If he wants to get out of his cage he screeches like you would not believe (at the top of his lungs too. o.o.) Kinda like when frankie flew randomly (ours does that too sometimes) but a lot worse. XD Nice vid!

I've got a 12 year old half moon conure with just about the same vocablulary. I taught mine to do the wolf whistle, but I wish I taught him to do a melodic tune like you did, that was pretty creative =)
I chose the name Frankie because it was uni-sex and I didn't know the gender when I acquired my little parrot. But, a few months ago I freaked out thinking that Frankie was sick because s/he was on the bottom on the cage - but, it turned out "he" was sitting on an egg! Frankie is a girl.
Loves these ! My half moon is 23 years old and just as active and talkative as the day I brought her home ❤️

i think frankie is a girl, judging from how small the orange patch is, girls usually have little orange while males have more prominent foreheads

This is most likely a female based up on the small orange crown. The males generally have a larger orange crown.
