Devotional: Love, Fear and Obedience by David Wilkerson
“… By the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.” (Proverbs 16:6) “The fear of the LORD is to hate evil…” (Proverbs 8:13) “He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me…” (John 14:21) “And this is love, that we walk after his commandments…” (2 John 1:6)
Love, fear and obedience - when it comes to walking with God, they all mean the same thing. In the past I have preached on love for God, the fear of God and obedience to God, as if they were three different aspects of our relationship to the Lord. But I am learning now that these three are inseparable that you cannot practice one without the other two:
You cannot love God without having the fear of God in you. You cannot love Him without obeying His Word. And you do not truly fear God unless you love and obey Him.
Ask yourself: What is your motivation for gaining victory over lusts, passions and besetting sins? For obtaining holiness, godliness and purity of heart?
Some teach that only the fear of God provokes believers to flee lusts. They quote these biblical passages: “Destruction and misery are in their ways: and the way of peace have they not known: There is no fear of God before their eyes” (Romans 3:16-18). “Fear the Lord, and depart from evil” (Proverbs 3:7). “The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death” (Proverbs 14:27).
Scripture says the early church was edified by “walking in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Ghost” (Acts 9:31) And Jeremiah said sinful Israel didn’t follow God with all their heart because they didn’t fear Him: “My fear is not in thee” (Jeremiah 2:19).
But other ministers teach that the only proper motivation against sin is love. I heard a Baptist pastor thundering on the radio recently: “Fear is not for the Christian - it has torment! You can’t walk with God if you fear Him. Love is the only response to grace you’ll ever need. If you love God, you’ll obey Him.”
This pastor absolutely ruled out the fear of God as any motivation for obedience to the Lord! The very idea of teaching people the holy fear of God seemed abhorrent to him.
Indeed, from pulpits everywhere today you hear mostly messages on love. There is little preaching about the fear of God - almost no powerful prophetic sermons that bring conviction of sin and compromise. Instead, pastors teach: “Just love Jesus with all your heart, and everything will be all right. We’re not under the law - we’re called to liberty! We all fail, but love covers all sin. So just learn to love. Love Jesus and the brethren, and you’ll be guaranteed heaven.”
That sounds good - but it’s not what the Word of God says! You may answer, “But didn’t Jesus say the two most important commandments hinge on love - that we’re to love God and love our neighbor?”
Yes, He did! I have no argument with those who teach that love ought to be our primary motivation as believers. My problem is the difference between the modern-day church’s definition of what Jesus calls love!
Love is not merely an emotion or an affection for Christ. It cannot be fully shown just through worship or preaching. And it can’t be measured by emotions. Many Christians can sit in church and feel great emotion, crying out to God and weeping and then walk straight out of the church and disobey God. Jesus says that’s not loving Him!

Obeying the Commandments of the Lord Jesus Christ!

I have said it before and say it again, all of us can have a walk similar to Brother David Wilkerson, not his walk but our own just as deep just as anointed, and I will say this again to have that kind of anointing comes with a price, a dedicated prayer life, a dedicated life of fasting, the life of a servent. we can have as deep a walk as we want.

I was disobedient and didn't do what God said but feared man and courts and now I repent and go to foot of cross of lord jesus christ again and beg lord jesus christ forgive me. From now on I will obey you and the holy spirit and not listen to the sweetest frame but wholly trust in jesus christ name amen. I believe lord jesus christ goodness and forgiveness and I will never lie again to please man but I will walk and talk in truth of jesus christ who loves us. But I think there is price we pay it's painful. Like some of Israelites who died on desert side of Jordan river. So always obey the lord jesus christ and his word. And have no regrets.

Can you imagine the sermons Wilkerson would be shouting from the rooftops today. Strange, nothing like that coming out of his church though. Nothing at all. Poignant isn’t it.
I must admit to being puzzled by the topic of this sermon-"I will fear no evil" when God is known to have visited evil on people?
All leave their souls at the altar.
Repent. Don't relent.
Seek ye the kingdom now.
God is near. It's clear.

***There is a Crown in Heaven awaiting all who faithfully share the Gospel of Jesus Christ and a soul is saved. ( "JESUS SAVES" below) 1 Thessalonians chapter 2:verse 19-20; Philippians chapter 4:verse 1. So too be Rapture ready to meet Jesus Christ in the air. "Maranatha!" meaning "HE COMES". Mark chapter 13: verses 33-37. The Apostles and saints greeted one another that way! Proofs:John chapter 14: verse 1-3; Titus chapter 2:verses 11 -14; Rev.chapter 3:verse 10; 1 Thessalonians chapter 5:verse 9. God the Son (Jesus Christ) has given us the gospel to share with the world.
Mark chapter 16: Verse 15: And He said unto them, Go into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
How can anyone hear the "good" news? Romans chapter 10: verse 17 Then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Isaiah chapter 7: verse 14: "Therefore the LORD shall give you a sign; behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and call His name Immanuel." Hebrew: עִמָּנוּאֵל, "God with us" in human flesh but without sin. The Savior of the world was born to die for our sins! He did so 33 years later. His terrible ordeal; body mutilated; blood poured out, finally died and was placed in a tomb and rose from the dead the 3rd day ! "HE IS RISEN" Matthew chapter 28: verse 6.
Isaiah chapter 53: verse 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. - IT IS FOUNDED UPON GOD'S LOVE FOR MAN AND WOMAN HE CREATED
John chapter 3: Verse 16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." Romans chapter 3: verse 23
" For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans chapter 6: verse 23
" Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes to the Father, but by me.."John chapter 14.verse 6
"1 Corinthians chapter 15: verse 3 "For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:"
THE PAYMENT BY HIS BLOOD FOR ALL SINS EVER!
And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. 1 John chapter 2: verse 2
Romans chapter 5:verse 8 But God demonstrates his love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, now justified by his blood, we will be saved from wrath through him."
“For he (God) hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” 2 Corinthians chapter 5:verse 21.
" In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;." Ephesians chapter 1:verse 7
Matthew chapter 26:verse 28 "For this is my blood of the New Testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins." (the life is in the blood. He had to pay with His life)
"And according to the Law, one may almost say, all things are cleansed with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness." Hebrews chapter 9:verse 22
BY GOD'S GRACE ALONE THROUGH FAITH ALONE IN JESUS CHRIST ARE WE SAVED
Ephesians chapter 2:verse 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 not of works, lest any man should boast.
Jesus died to pay the penalty for our sins and rescue us from eternal death. Because of Jesus' death on our behalf, all we have to do is believe in Him, trusting in His death and in the shedding of His blood as payment for our sins, as well as in His burial and resurrection from the dead on the third day, and we will be saved! John chapter 20: verses 24-31
WHOSOEVER BELIEVES SHALL TESTIFY TO THE TRUTH
Romans 10:
9 That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For with the heart man believes in righteousness; And a confession by mouth is given for salvation.
13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
TO DIE IS TO REJECT SALVATION IN JESUS CHRIST AND BE SEPARATE FROM GOD FOREVERMORE
Salvation and forgiveness of sins is the blessing of anyone who believes in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. We are sealed (permanently!) by God the Holy Spirit: Ephesians chapter 1 verse 13-14. Those who reject the free gift of salvation, see John chapter 3: verse 16 above, "perish", which means their sins are judged by God the Son and they suffer eternal separation from God and the family of God forever called the "second death". Revelation chapter 21: verse 8.
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. ”Romans chapter 5:verse 1
But a seed has to die to bear fruit. A (last will &) testament is effective only upon death of its author. Amen?
